"God. This feels good!" I exclaimed as I step into the tub of warm bubbly water in my very own apartment.

Just one week away and it feels like ages. I just want to jump into my comfy bed and take a long nap but all my dreams were shattered by Reuben, the handsome arrogant jerk when he said,"Nobody is taking the day off. After we land you'll be given two hours break. Do what ever you want in this two hours but be back in the office by 12 noon."

Now when I say he's handsome doesn't mean I like him.

He's tall, good looking, his seducing dark scent, his soft brown eyes, his broad shoulders.

Uhhh!!!Snap out of your thoughts Kaesy.

He's not what you think. Everyone knows he's a womanizer. Everyone knows he's with different woman everyday. You can't and won't fall in love with him.

Wait!!!Oh my gosh did I just say love? No, no this is not me. Stay focus. The last thing you'll ever want is to fall in love with him.

I brushed away all my thoughts,got out of the tub and slipped into a black dress.

I reached the office 30 minutes earlier. I entered my cabin, the lights were shut, the curtains were closed. I took a few steps in before I saw somone standing behind my desk.

"Uuhh, excuse me?" I said.

The person didn't reply, instead he turned around and took a few steps forward.

I couldn't see him clearly.

"Wh- who are you?" I said taking a step back.

A shiver ran through my spine.

He reached out his hands to grab me and at that moment I did what I do best.

I screamed.

He pulled me over and covered my mouth.

"Shut up! It's me." He said.

I looked up and watched more closely. Reuben.

Our faces close to eachother. His eyes locked with mine. He slowly let loose his hand covering my mouth and brushed his fingers across my cheek. It sent waves of electricity through my body. His hot breath fanned across my face causing me to freeze.

Suddenly I got hold of my senses and pulled myself out from his grip. I hurriedly went and opened the lights.

I could see Reuben running his hands through his hair restlessly.

"Uuhh what are you doing here?" I asked him unable to meet his gaze.

"I-I uh I just wanted to check if you've turned out or not." He said.

"Did you want something?" I asked.

"Go to my place. There will some files on the desk in my study room. I need you to bring those files. My driver will take you there." He said and left.

Ha! Bossy Billionaire.

I walked towards where Reuben's car was parked.

"Hello Miss Pachelbel." Lane, the old, jolly driver greeted me.

"Hi Lane." I said with a smile. "How have you been?" I added.

"Very well ma'am. Thank you." He replied and opened the door for me.

Lane had been a good company for the 20 minutes drive.

"We're here, ma'am." He said and turned around and smiled at me.

I peeped out of the window and saw the entrance gate. There it was written 'The Bareth Residence' in big, bold, stylish letters.

Hump! not bad, not bad. I thought to myself.

I rang the doorbell and was greeted by a fair looking lady.

"Hi! I am Reuben Bareth's secetary and I am suppose to pick up some files." I said.

"This way please." She said and leaded me inside.

The interior was painted with light blue and a slight touch of lavender purple. I noticed the high walls and windows, the curtains and the beautiful chandelier hanging in the middle of the room.

"Who is it, Mrs Pearson?" Someone said and walked in.

I turned around and saw a beautiful woman. She had pretty amber face, brown eyes matching her blonde hair.

"Its Master Reuben's secretary ma'am. She is here to collect some files."

"Uhh... Hi!! I am Kaesy Pachelbel ma'am and you must be Mrs Bareth I suppose." I said extending my hand.

"Well hello. Yes I am Mrs Caroline Bareth. Reuben's mother." She said smiling and taking my hand.

"I heard from my son you were coming. You are here to pick some files, right?" She said.

"Ah! Yes yes , the files." I replied.

"Come I'll show you." She said motioning me to follow her.

We climbed up the stairs and was greeted by an unending hallway. The walls were decorated with beautiful antique pieces.

"Is my son treating you well?" She looked at me and smiled.

"Huh treat me well?" I said."Yeah he treats me very well." I added sarcastically.

"You know, my son is a very good man." She started. "He used to be kind ,friendly, happy and sometimes he was funny." She said chuckling.

"But 2 years ago something awful happened to him." Caroline said with sadness in her voice. "And that day changed his life completely."

"I know he is hard on everybody but when you get to know him he is not what you think."

"Oh! Why am I saying all this now." She said rubbing her forehead.

"No no it's fine it's fine. Actually I'm really happy you opened up to me." I said.

"You're really a sweet girl." She said. "We're here. This is his study room. Well, you go do your thing. I'll be downstairs, call me if you need anything." Caroline said and left.

I entered Reuben's study room. There was a shelf of books in one cornor, thick curtains and the files on the desk which I needed to pick up.

I grabbed the files and turned to leave but in the process drops some books lying on the table.

Clumsy me!

I hurriedly collected the books when a note slip out from what looked like a diary.

Seriously?A diary? Well who could have imagined Reuben maintaining a diary.

I carefully took out the note and read the most beautiful words which once made my heart leap and will do so for a million more times.

I wanted to be the brightest star the universe could hold but for some reason I wasn't and the moment I laid my eyes on you I knew why!
