4 MONTHS LATER

I smiled when I saw the very cute set of baby clothes at the baby section of the mall. I couldn't help but to get excited and start to choose clothes for my baby. The doctor already told me the gender just a while ago and it made me happy to know that I'll be having a baby boy.

Hearing the good news would be more exciting and happier if he's with me but I guess it's no use of hoping for him to come and see me. Maybe he's married now and happy with that woman...No! Don't go there! You'll just going to get hurt further! It's already passed the deadline that you both agreed upon but he's still not here so stop hoping!

I took a deep breath and shook the thought off of my head.

When I saw him on the TV four months ago, I told to myself that I would just move on and forget about him but it was easier said than done. Sometimes, I still remember him, especially during the night. Even though I want to erase him permanently on my mind, I couldn't do it.

Hunter's memories are forever be etched in my heart and mind. But I promised myself not to cry because of him again. Even though I's hard, I am trying to be brave for the sake of my baby and now, everything's beginning to get better.

I walked along the row of baby clothes while choosing the baby clothes that caught my attention. When I got satisfied with the articles that I chose, I then walked towards the cashier and pay for the items.

When I finished paying, I decided to go home because it was already almost lunch time. I should eat on time because I'm not the only one in my body now. Before, I used to eat and do what I wanted to but now, my lifestyle became totally different because I think of my baby's health first before doing anything. I think things through first, like, Is it good for my baby or not? Things like that.

When I reached the parking lot, I was about to get in my car when my phone rang.

I quickly took it out from my bag and answered when I saw who was calling.

"Hello, Ben?"

"Hello, Angela. Where are you?"

"I'm at the mall. Why?" I asked as I got in the car and fixed my seatbelt.

"Figures. I'm here at your place but the guard told me that you're not in so I called you" I chuckled.

"Yeah. I went to the doctor a while ago and then decided to go to the mall to buy some stuff"

"Really? So how's the baby?" He asked.

"Hmm....Everything's alright. We're both healthy"

"Okay. I guess I'll be waiting for you here, then?" My eyebrows knitted together.

"You don't have to, Ben. I'll be dropping by to my brother's house so I don't know what time I'll be home. I'm sorry" I said apologetically. I heard him heaved a sigh.

"It's okay, Angela. I'll come back some other time" I bit my lower lip.

"Okay" I answered before I ended the call. I took a deep breath. I didn't have the plan to drop by to my brother's house but knowing that Ben's at my place, I guess I need to go there rather than going home and be with Ben.

I mean, I like being with him but I started feeling awkward around him after that day.

I happened to run into Ben three days after I arrived here in the USA. Starting from that day, he always calls me and comes in my place every now and then. I didn't find it strange at first because I considered him my friend. But everything got awkward when he suddenly admitted to me that he loves me...

"I've been in love with you since the first time I saw you in Greece, Angela. But I didn't have the courage to tell you my feelings because I thought that you and Hunter were really married. I kept my feelings for you and decided to forget about it. But when I discovered that Hunter has been deceiving you, I couldn't stop myself and interfered. Now that you and Hunter are over, I am hoping that you can give me a chance to be a part of your life and be with you" I looked at Ben in shock.

We're currently at the park near my place. He called a while ago and since it's Sunday, I said yes when he asked me to spend the day with him.

"You don't know what you're talking about, Ben" I said and tried to laugh amusedly but it came out as an awkward laugh. .

"I know what I'm talking about, Angela. I love you. Please give me a chance to prove it to you" he said with sincerity. I tried to feel what my heart says but it remained calm and I can't feel anything special towards him other than friendship. I couldn't help but to compare my feelings towards Hunter with my feelings to Ben and it was totally different.

"I'm sorry, Ben, but all I can offer you right now is friendship. As you can see, I'm pregnant and I just want to concentrate on my baby for now. I am not thinking of entering in a new relationship either. I hope you understand" He held my hands.

"I don't care if you're pregnant. I can accept the baby if that's what's keeping you from giving another shot in love" I smiled at him and pulled back my hands.

"No, Ben. It's not right. You're a good friend for me but I don't feel anything towards you other than friendship" his eyes turned sad and lifeless. He became quiet for a couple of seconds.

"It's still, Hunter, right?" His eyes were staring intently at me while he asked me that and I couldn't answer immediately.

"I'm sorry, Ben" Is all I could say. He chuckled bitterly.

"Hunter is very lucky. Even though he hurt you, he still have your heart. Now, you're even pregnant with his baby. I really envy him" He said before he heaved a sigh and smiled forcefully.

"I understand, Angela. I'll remain by your side until you feel ready to love again. I won't give up" I wanted to tell him not to do that but I saw the determination in his eyes, the look that I saw in Adrien's eyes when he told me the same thing.

I left France because I didn't want to give Adrien the wrong idea that he still has the chance with me. But now, I have the same situation with Ben. I groaned inwardly.

Upon entering my brother's house, I saw Carina and Scarlet at the living room, laughing together while playing snakes and ladders. Carina's belly is a big now but mine is bigger because I'm already on my 5th month and she's three months and a half along, I think.

I cleared my throat to get their attention.

"Auntie!" Scarlet squealed and ran towards me. She hugged me and then kissed my cheeks.

"Hello sweetie. You're getting cuter with each passing day" I said which made her giggle. Carina then approached me and gave me a hug.

"It's good that you came. Join us for lunch. Regan is in the office but he'll be home to eat lunch with us" I chuckled and sat on the couch.

"I'm glad he still have time to come home and eat with you two. Anyway, you looked radiant, Carina. Pregnancy becomes you" I stared as I stared at her with amazement. I could tell that she's happy. Her eyes we're even twinkling. She and Regan just had their wedding 2 weeks ago and they just came back from their honeymoon the other day.

At last, they have their happy ending after all the things they've been through.

Carina smiled at me.

"You too. You looked beautiful but you need to eat more. I can see that you're getting thinner. Your brother is worried about you too"

"You don't have to worry about me. I'm fine. I just came from the doctor and she told me that my baby and I were healthy" I said proudly and stroked my big tummy.

"I'm glad you decided to stop moping around and just concentrate on the baby inside you" A baritone voice said.

"Daddy!" Scarlet squealed cheerfully and hugged her father. Regan then approached Carina and gave her a kiss on the lips; then kissed her stomach too.

That scene made me envy her. Carina is so lucky to have my brother. He's loving and very sweet towards her. He always makes sure that Carina is comfortable and in a good condition. He always accompanies her to her OBGYN.

I heaved a sigh when an image of someone popped up in my head. But like I usually does when I remember him, I shook his image away from my mind. It's not healthy for me and the baby if I always think about him. Maybe, it's time for me to just accept that he already forgot about me and our unborn child that's why even if It's already been 4 months since the last time we saw each other, he never came back.

"What are you thinking about, Angelique?" I looked at my brother and realized he's already staring intently at me. I knew that he's still angry at me for not telling anything about him. I could still remember the look on his face when he discovered about my pregnancy.

I was at the garden, busy trimming the flowering plants when I heard the voice of my brother. I stopped what I was doing and strode my way towards the gate where I heard voices.

My eyes widened when I saw my brother, carrying Scarlet in his arms, while talking happily to mom and Ellie. I was about to turn my back and walk away from there when Regan looked at my direction and saw me standing there. He waved his hand and put Scarlet on her feet before he walked towards me with a smile.

But that smile disappeared when he noticed my belly. He stopped on his tracks.

"What is the meaning of this, Angelique?" He asked through gritted teeth and I knew, he's mad. I felt nervous all of a sudden. He looked so mad which made me more tensed under his gaze. .

"Answer me, Angelique!" I flinched because of his thunderous voice. I bit my lower lip as my eyes watered.

"Stop it, Regan. You shouldn't shout at your sister like that. She's pregnant and it's not good for the baby if you make her cry" Our mom said and approached me and pulled me closer to her as she patted my shoulder. Regan's face softened when he noticed my watery eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me about this? Even you, mom, Ellie? Why didn't you mention about this to me?"

"We didn't mean to hide this from you but Angela isn't ready to tell you yet because she knew that you'll act like this" Mom explained.

"I can't believe this" He said and heaved a frustrated sigh.

"Who's the father?" He asked in a calmer voice after a few seconds.

"I-I'm sorry, Reg, but I can't tell you" I answered with a trembling voice.

"Why? Because he abandoned you, is that it?" His eyes squinted in anger.

"Is he the one you mentioned to me before who you were with in Greece? Tell me who he is and I'll give him a lesson if he really abandoned and hurt you" Panic started to crawl throughout my body. This is the reason why I avoided telling this to him because he would do something to get back at Hunter for my sake.

"I'm sorry, Reg, but I can't tell you who he is" I said and turned my back on them. I quickly went to my room upstairs and went to my room. I couldn't face my brother because I knew he would insist for me to tell him the identity of the father of my baby.

"Ange?"

I was brought back to the present when I heard Regan's voice.

"Yes?"

"I'm asking you what you're thinking right now. You looked sad" I rolled my eyes.

"Nothing. Anyway, since you're already here, let's eat. My baby is hungry" I said, trying to avoid his questions.

"Okay, let's go. I know you're already hungry too, honey" Carina said and then pulled her husband's hand. I mentally thanked her for being sensitive enough to get the attention of her husband. Regan's really persistent sometimes but I know he means well.

It was already 6 pm when I arrived at the penthouse. Regan used to stay there when he was still single but when he found Carina after how many years, he bought a mansion for his growing family. He has been pestering me to live with them since their house has extra rooms. He's worried about my welfare, especially because I am pregnant, but I declined.

Now, I am working with him at Bayleaf Corp. as an operations manager and I am planning to work as long as I could.

Upon entering my unit, I immediately sat on the couch and rest for a little bit. I noticed that I easily get tired now. Maybe because of my big belly.

"I already prepared your dinner, Angela. I'll go ahead" Mary said, my household helper.

"Thank you, Mary. See you tomorrow" I said.

When she left, I stood up and went to my closet and chose something comfortable to wear for the night and then went to the bathroom and took a bath.

When I finished taking a bath and got dressed, I was about to go to the dining area to eat when someone rang the doorbell. My eyebrows creased. Normally, the information desk would notify me when someone wants to see me but I didn't receive any call from them.

My heart began beating rapidly but not because of nervousness or any negative feeling. Instead, it was beating in a weird way, like I'm excited about something and that made me confused. Silly.

I strode towards the door and looked at the CCTV screen to see who it was when I gasped in surprise because of who I saw outside my unit. I couldn't believe what I'm seeing. My heart thumped even faster than a while ago just by seeing him again after how many months. What is he doing here?! How did he know my location?! Did he come here to say sorry because he already has someone else?
