Tragic Rescue: Part 7

All Jenny knew was that she woke up. Darkness was all that surrounded her with only a little light coming from a far window. She looked down to see a figure lying in her lap. She felt comforted by its presence but confused at the same time.

Scurvy, she thought to herself. She tried to reach down to touch him, but her arms wouldn't move. That's when she realized that she was chained to a wall. So it wasn't an awful nightmare, not this time. This was real. She had been captured and rendered powerless. She hadn't felt this helpless since she was captured by Brown years ago and held as his captive for almost a year, but even then she had hope. She had Cree then. They had helped each other escape, but Cree wasn't here now and she felt more alone than she ever had.

Suddenly the shadowy face of the dog looked up at her. His expression held concern which gave Jenny cause to wonder just how much trouble they were in. She then heard a humming in her ear and felt like he was trying to say something but what.

She remembered that Sophie could speak to this dog. Is that what she heard or something else? She didn't know how this dog's telepathy worked, but she did know that he was trying to tell her something.

The silence in her dungeon cell was deafening, but it suddenly ended as the door swung open. She saw the figure of that awful man, the one who had captured her. He was smiling which made Jenny even more terrified.

"Good morning, Miss Wilson," he said with a slight grin on his face. How he knew her last name she didn't know. Then her thoughts went to Charlie. He had probably told this man everything about her. Two other men entered as well and approached either side of her, but Scurvy was growling and showing his fangs. He lunged at one of the guards.

"Restrain him!" the mostly bold bulbous man shouted. One of the guard held his mouth closed with his gloved hands while the other injected something into him.

Scurvy suddenly stopped struggling and just laid there limp in the guard's arms. "You killed him!" Jenny shouted.

"No, my dear," her captor said. "That's just to relax him. I want him awake and alert for the main event," His guards then put the dog in a cage that held just enough room for him.

"What event?" Jenny asked but something inside her told her that she didn't want to know. "Bring her," he said with a seriousness in his expression. He picked up the cage that held the dog and quickly walked out of the cell.

Jenny felt herself being manhandled by the two guards as they unchained her from the wall. She barely had any strength to struggle even though she tried. One slapped her to get her to stop moving as they chained her arms behind her back. They also put a neck restraint on her with a chain attached to it.

"Come," the guard that held the neck chain said. The other had put her on her feet and shoved her forward. She didn't even have enough time to gain her balance and fell on her knees.

They both laughed at her, and the one that held the chain said, "Stay like that, demon," he said laughing. "Stay on your knees where you belong. Now, stop wasting time."

He pulled on the chain which choked her a bit. It was hard trying to move while on her knees, but she was going as fast as she could, and if she slowed up just a little the guard behind her was ready with the whip.

The thin rag of a garment they forced her to wear absorbed some of the blow, but not all of it. Jenny was already in so much pain and she knew this would not be the end of it.
