SEVEN ♡ GRASS FACE

chapter seven grass face

(Everyone go check out -forever-chloe- )

The doctor had already removed the bandages from last night that Damon had wrapped around my shoulder and wrist which he said, quote, 'was impressive' and that he should consider taking a medical course, something along those lines, I drifted off.

But what I did notice was the gleam in Damon's eyes and the very slightest twitch of a smile playing on his lips.

He seemed to be very interested in whatever bollocks the doctor was raving on about as he nodded along.

"I'll be right back." The doctor told us firmly as he pushed out of his chair taking long, strong strides out of the room. Leaving Damon and I in here together.

"Damon, do you think I'll actually-"

As if he knew what I was going to say before I had even finished he replied.

"I'm not sure, there's no visible bone sticking out so the chances are it could just be a sprain." I let out a breath of relief.

He seemed keen, and unlike last night when the incident occurred he was knowledgable even without his smart phone.

"How do you know?"

"I was researching." He mumbled "After you fell asleep." He went a slight tint of red as if he was confessing something embarrassing, which, probably in fact in his mind was embarrassing.

I smiled at this, but decided to remain silent. Naturally, I would have teased him and maybe I didn't because I was in lack of the energy or maybe the fact that he was actually trying.

-

I gritted my teeth as the doctor- which I found out, loved kids and soon was going to evolve into a teacher, as well as his name was Alfredo- tightly wrapped the bandages around my arm.

He said it was supposed to be tight, something or another about helping the sprain, I sort of drifted off. But, this was one too many levels of 'tight'.

The bandages were going to be on for roughly the span of two weeks. Yay.

Once he finished he pulled a white sling around my shoulder and my arm to keep the arm in place.

It was loose and gave me the freedom to slightly move my arm.

If this didn't make me look like I was involved in a serious fight then I don't know what would.

The doctor left once again to fetch a few things he told us as Damon and I sat there in silence it didn't last very long, because slowly yet eventually Damon begun laughing.

"What." I dared.

"You look like the biggest idiot."

"Gee, thanks."

Damon shrugged in response, clearly happy with himself.

--

I took another sip from my plastic cup as Damon parked the car in the driveway.

Yay, home.

"Thanks." I muttered not daring to look back at him.

"Sorry, what was that? I didn't quite catch it." Damon teased as I rolled my eyes.

"Oh shut it." I laughed, pushing him by his side.

Damon raised his hands as if saying 'okay'.

The car was filled with silence after this.

It wasn't so much as awkward, more an exhausted kind of silence. Well, I thought that anyways.

It was still early, yet I was mentally and physically so drained.

Sighing, I placed my hand on the handle.

"Thanks."

For once Damon actually, genuinely smiled at me.

The smile was small yet it was enough to lighten my day.

I stepped out of the car, closing the door behind me carefully. Not to hurt his precious 'baby'.

I slowly made my way towards the door.

Turning my head over my shoulder I realised Damon was still here. Waiting.

I lifted the mat where the keys usually were.

To my delight they weren't there.

This day just keeps getting better and better!

"Bree-Hannah, can you hurry up? I don't have all day." Damon teased once again, his window was now down. His tattooed covered arm outside, fingers tapping the outside of the car softly.

"No one asked you to stay." I retorted. Now deciding to look behind the two large pots in front of the Windows besides the door.

Of course, they weren't there either.

"Yeah well, I was raised better."

I rolled my eyes mumbling an unconvincing 'sure'.

The sound of the door shouting was shortly followed by several footsteps inching closer to me.

Damon looked at me confused.

"Lost the keys."

He was asking to be irritated when he stepped foot of that car.

"Of course." Damon spoke in a flat tone.

Damon reached over the small ledge above the door in search for the set of red keys.

I jumped back a bit out of fright when the sound of yelling echoed behind the door.

"Rob! Stop!"

I looked back at Damon, he was standing there with a puzzled face. His hand still above the door.

The sound of glass shattering was shortly followed.

I didn't know what to do, knock? Run? Stay put? Tell Damon to leave?

Panic begun settling in, rising within me.

My breathing became sharp and fast. Eyes still averted to the floor I thought of a plan.

"What're we going to do? Beg them for money!" The familiar voice shouted.

Damon could not be here right now. This could not be happening. This could not be happening.

Closing my eyes, I tried to relax, I tried telling myself it was nothing but a dream.

My clenched first begun becoming tighter and together until I started to become weak and my knuckles went white.

"Sophia!" Dad called. The sound of heels clacking against the wood floor board sent shivers into my spine. This was not a dream.

I tugged at Damon's sleeve attempting to get him to move.

"I'm leaving!"

I knew they were stressing about things, and I would be lying if I said I didn't know it was bad. But I just never interrupted how much this would effect their relationship, our family.

Damon shook it off, as I pulled him over to his car, getting in.

He came in, sat in the drivers seat for a few moments not saying anything.

"Drive." I demanded.

He was unresponsive. What was wrong with him? This wasn't the time for it.

"Damon." I placed my hand on his right cheek turned away from me when averted his gaze my direction, looking him in the eye.

"Drive." He stated back for a while, his eyes flicking back and forth from my two eyes.

After a moment he started up the engine, turning away from me.

He reversed, getting off my driveway before speeding off. Just in time.

We drove down the street and away, as fast as the car could take us.

After five minutes of driving Damon finally slowed down. And before we knew it, we were miles away from my house.

The red light flashed back at us. I'd been dreading this moment the whole car ride.

Several cars drive in front of us, passing.

"What-" Damon stopped talking, as if thinking, re-phrasing himself.

"Are you okay?" He spoke in a soft quiet voice.

"I'm fine." I reassured him, biting down of my tongue.

Damon turned, looking away from the road, now, at me.

His frown deepened, he scanned my face as if trying to figure something out,

He quickly shook it off though, he didn't push the matter further.

"Let's get some ice cream."

It was the most cliche thing I had ever heard.

"I'm a vegan."

"Okay..." He thought "Grass it is."

"You asshole!" I yelled, offended as he couldn't keep down his grin.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." He joked, putting his hands up.

I sent him a very unconvinced face, rolling my eyes.

"What do you want?"

"Sushi."

He nodded. "With some grass and flowers on the side?"

He could not be serious. I was so close to slapping him.

"Hilarious." If looks could kill, he'd be dead.

"Thanks Daisy, I actually get that a lot."

"My name is Bree." He was starting to really get on my nerves.

Sticking his tongue out he softly tapped my cheek as if I was a child.

I remained serious, sending him a death stare.

"Oh come on, you know you want to laugh." Damon teased as I shook my head, pushing his hand off my cheek.

"You want to laugh." He continued.

"Whatever." The smile smile crept onto my lips as I turned away.

"I knew it, little Daisy."

I gagged, was he using Daisy as a pet name?

"You need to stop. You sound like a creep." I sent bother turning to face him.

"Fine, grass face." He called me instead.
