"Ruth. I've told you numerous amounts of times, get your hair dyed back to a natural shade. You know the rules." Ruth nodded, her eyes darting around the room as if looking for something to entertain her.
"Ruthless," Yes, just like her name Ruth was Ruthless, and that my friend, was the problem, that's why I, was stuck in this room with the principle Ms. Rush, the lady who shopped at the local Paul's warehouse for her shoes, or should I say Crocs.
Not only was Ruth's hair the problem but Rachel's aggression towards Jessy Waters, and my loyalty as a friend, was what got us into this mess.
"I mean it. If one more teacher in the staff room tells me about your pink hair..." She shivered, shaking her head. "But that's beside the point. What were you thinking?" Ms. Rush snapped, continuing her hour's long and counting, lecture.
Sometimes I felt as if Ms. Rush felt the need to shove her religion down the student's of Haven High's throats, I mean, if she couldn't do it verbally she had other ways. Like, sitting in her office the walls were decorated with Catholic scriptures all framed, and on her desk was displayed what I think to be her family standing in front of a church, the majority of the girls in the photo had on turtle necks, and colored slacks, so bright I was almost blinded.
Sitting here, I had almost felt what I was wearing was sinful. Besides Ms. Rush wearing her favorite pair of pink Croc's; her long black slacks, black stockings under that, long sleeved button down shirt that had a snazzy zebra print going on on it, vintage vest and finally coat made her seem as if we were all wearing nothing.
Rachel begun laughing, covering her her mouth with her hand as she turned her head away from us, so naturally I wondered what was so funny, but then I realized...
"Ms. Hale! A systems, a conference!" Ms. Rush screeched, pulling out her desk cabinet in a harsh manner.
"You're not even listening. See, this is why delinquents like you young ladies, who may I add have so much potential, throw it all away! Because you don't listen, this is why-"
"We're delinquents for standing up for our rights?" I spoke in a threatening tone, I had to stop myself from slapping this lady.
"For starting a food fight in the cafeteria." Ms. Rush spoke, not screaming this time, surprisingly.
Ruth 'oh'ed' mockingly as she waved around her hands muttering under her breath 'What rebels, starting a food fight'.
I had to press my lips together tightly to stop myself from bursting out in laughter, Rachel on the other hand had no problem with laughing out loud.
"Why so ruthless for Ruth?" I joked, it was sort of like an inside joke between the three of us. Ruth was always the one to do the most dumbest things, like her hair for example, she did that on a dare. One dare led to several detentions after school.
"We have one, happy gathering with our fellow Hayes High and you all must start up an argument?" Rush shook her head, grumbling. A blue bio pen was in her wrinkled, pale, fragile hands. She pushed down firmly onto the paper with her pen, the veins in her hand seemed to be showing, more than usual.
"Ms-" Rachel stopped laughing, looking down at the sheet of paper. I had a gut feeling that that note would be heading to my parents.
Ruth however, still remained smug, as per usual.
"You, girls, hand this to your parents." Ms Rush handed me the slip of paper. As my eyes slowly scanned it, the school's logo was in the top right corner, a red border surrounded the edges and inside was the details.
"I've known you girls since you enrolled, seventh grade. I have always known you were girls of much potential, but every once in a while everyone gets lost, now, it's come to my attention it'll be mandatory to guide you back down the right path. As principle. Please, tell your parent guardians to give this consideration and look into this." All I could really process was a murmur of words coming from Ms. Rush. What really had my attention was what was written on the slip.
"Attendance to Hayes High?" Rachel spat, be-wild.

"Rachel was only making a big deal out of this situation because she'd have to see Jessy Waters mangy face for the next month. Besides, our parents surely wouldn't accept the offer." Out of exhaustion I let my head fall into the roll of pink frosted bread with sprinkles on top.
Eugene laughed at this, it was almost closing up time at the bakery. Scratch that, it should have already been closed but Eugene kept it open for longer because of my presence.
"Your parents may not want to look bad, maybe they'll want you to go to apologies." I frowned at this. "Bu-but don't get me wrong, it's unlikely." Eugene tried lighting the mood, although I was in a glum mood I couldn't help but laugh at the baker's words.
"You'll be just fine, you've got family there." By family Eugene meant his son Adrian. The Heywood's and I were one happy, -sort of- family. I nodded at this, knowing he was right.
