#31 What a Human Heart Needs
What a human heart needs, I wonder?
Is it the blood coursing through our veins?
The red river transports the oxygen,
Or so my biology teacher says.
What a human heart needs to function?
Is it the conscience that whispered to me?
But we have our minds to do the thinking,
Then why does the heart feel?
Why does the human heart feel,
The love, the affection, the adoration?
Why do our hearts prickle with,
The fear, the anger and every negative emotion?
But then, why does life without heartfelt love seem so bleak,
Isn't heart just a bunch of muscles put together?
Why does a heart without compassion,
Looks so different from others?
Why does it feel so heavy?
When longing for the lost ones?
Why does the heart weigh so light,
When in the arms of a loved one?
The heart needs kind and compassion, one could say,
Then why isn't love also enough?
Why can't love start again,
A stopped heart, is it so tough?
What does a human heart need to beat?
Beat and then breathe rhythmically,
Does it need agression or fear?
Or does it the response of 'flight and flee'?
If fear is the key, then why wars exist?
When everything that war brings in end,
Is caskets and funerals,
And heartbroken goodbyes to our friends.
I think and wonder, what really does a human heart need?
It must be science that proves our blood pumping,
Or it could be the emphatic literature that moves us,
Or it must be the art that had us smiling.
It could be love, I think,
But saddness also moves the heart,
It could be affection, I wonder,
But it may be fear where beats of a heart start.
The good, or the bad? The white or black?
What a human heart needs, I wonder,
It always comes down to emotions,
After all, we humans are fickle beings for sure.
