Chapter Ten
Chloe’s POV
Calum and Luke ran in seconds later. She suddenly turned pale, her eyes changing to a light grey. It seemed as if she were falling in slow motion. Calum dove to catch her at the last second before she hit the hard wooden floor. I let out a dramatic sigh of relief. “Okay….when she wakes up, she saw me naked, not as a mermaid” Michael rested his hand on my knee and smiled. “One can only dream…” Slapping his hand away, I scoffed. “…Perv.” His look of confusion made me wonder what was going through his mind….
“Well, you kissed me first.” All eyes were on me. Great.
Wait, I remember now! The beer was still there. I kissed him! Ashton is gonna be pissed. “It was the alcohol!” A wave of laughter rushed through the room as I began to dehydrate my tail. As the scales finally gave in, my muddy pyjamas were shown once again.
A groan from Georgia silenced the room.
“Chloe’s a fish!” She pointed at me, wiggling her index finger excitedly. I gave her a weird look, as if she’d just said I was something stupid like a vampire or something. “No! I’m not kidding! You all saw it, I know you did!” Calum ran his fingers through her curly locks. “You must’ve hit your head when you fainted, babe.” She shook her head. Calum decided to end the conversation and picked her up bridal style. “I’m going to take you upstairs to Ashton’s room. You need to get some rest.”
As soon as they left, I couldn’t help but giggle. “You got lucky Chlo” Luke patted my shoulder and smiled.
“Chlo?”
“Yeah. It’s your new nick name” I smiled at that.
*One Week Later*
Ashton was fully healed now and we finally got some alone time at my flat.
I gazed at the faded baby blue painted walls and smiled, remembering the day me and Isabel painted them. I could almost hear the laughter we shared as we had a full on paint war. Good times.
The door bell rang.
“Who is it?”
“Mail!”
I ran and greeted Sam; an elderly man in his late sixties. He’s been a mail deliverer for over forty years now. “You have a great day now.” I thanked him and shut the door, skimming through the envelopes. Junk, junk, ohhh coupons, junk, mortgage. Damn it!
I sat down on the kitchen counter next to Ashton, who was happily enjoying a lettuce sandwich. Awwwww…
My theatrical gasp caught his attention. “What is it, love?” I showed him the bill and he gasped too. “You pay $6,000 a month?!?!?!” I sighed. “Yes, the neighbourhood is installing a community pool and playground and we have to pay the price.” He shook his head.
“Come live with me and the guys, then.”
