Chapter Nine
Chapter Nine
Ashton’s POV
The next morning, I woke up in the same position as I was in last night. I lifted my head and looked around to find the boys off in a corner piled up, sound asleep. Chloe was still completely out cold in the middle of the floor.
Using all of my strength, I pulled myself out of the rubble of broken glass that surrounded me. My right leg was killing me. The pain was unbearable, but I managed to drag myself to her side.
Her breaths were short and her body was quivering. With the slightest contact of my skin on hers, she flinched and her eyes sprung open. She immediately retreated back to her spot on the floor and moaned, rubbing her temples. “What happened last night? I have such a raging headache.” Her breath had a distinct scent of alcohol. “I think it had something to do with beer, love.” Her eyes widened. “God damn it. Why did I do that? One measly drop if it and my brain switches off!!!” I nod understanding.
“Oh, Ashton. You’re bleeding.” Her hand caressed my cheek as she glared at the dried blood. “I’ll fix this.” She motioned her hand to the kitchen counter, where a glass of tap water sat. The water formed into a bubble and she pulled it over to us. Soon, the water was on my cheek and the blood was gone. “You’re amazing, you know?”
She got off the ground and began to help me off the ground and I yelped. “Oh my god, Ashton what happened?!?!? Your leg! It’s—it’s” I grabbed it, hoping to relieve the pain, but there was no use. A salty tear ran down my cheek as the memories rushed back.
Suddenly, she smacked my arms away from my leg and laid my leg out flat. Closing her eyes, she clenched her fist. I could feel my bones moving around inside of me. The pain was excruciating, but it felt a hell of a lot better when she was done. It was like she had lifted a million tons off of my leg.
“You fixed a broken bone?”
“Yup.”
“What can’t you do?” She smiled deeply, making me fall into a trance. I stared into her blue orbs and watched as she bent over and kissed my cheek.
The front door slamming into the wall for a second time in twenty-four hours snapped me out of it. Georgia stood in the door way, a frantic look on her face. She ran over to Chloe and pulled her in as close as she could.

Chloe’s POV
She wrapped her arms tightly around me and I was struggling to breathe. “Can’t—breathe!” I managed to choke out as she let me loose. “I went to your house and the front door was wide open! I was so worried…Hey, what happened here?” She said, pointing at the huge hole in the wall.
The girls don’t know about my secret, so we had whip up some old lie. Before Ashton could speak up, I had spit out the first thing that popped into my head. “Extreme tag?” She laughed hysterically before spotting the pile of boys in the corner. “Oh—kay?”
She walked over to the stack of sleepy heads and picked out her boyfriend. Somehow, she got him to wake up and his expression was calm, until he saw me. He flinched away and glared at me. My soft smile put him at ease, showing him that I was back to normal now. The other boys slowly woke up and struggled to remember how they got there. After helping the boys to their feet, Georgia walked back to me.
“Oh, you’re bleeding!” She ran off and came back with a soaked dish cloth. I pushed her arm away. “That’s okay. I’ll do it.”
“No, really. I’ll help you.”
Before I had a chance to say anything else, the dripping wet cloth was laid on my face. I gasped and Calum ran as fast as he could towards Georgia. His body force made the two come crashing down. He kept his palm over her eyes and she squirmed relentlessly. “Calum Thomas Hood, you get off me right now!” She desperately slapped at his hands, but he didn’t let her go.
With his other hand, he motioned me to leave. Luke held Ashton down because he desperately wanted to help with the situation, but he needed to let his leg rest. After calming him down, Luke and Michael grabbed my waist and dragged me to a random bedroom and shut the door.
Whoa. I just realised….first time alone with these two….
“So…how’s life?” My attempt to break the awkward silence was ultimately failing.
Everything went to a blur. Ah great. Beer’s still there.

Michael’s POV
“So…how’s life?” She smiled and then something went wrong.
Her pupils shaded to a dark grey and her expression became oddly demonic. I looked at Luke and his face was full of fear. “Go get Calum” He ran out the door and shut it with a loud bang.
Her face turned soft and she smiled out the corner of her mouth. She held her hand out and I curiously grabbed it. A strong force pulled me closer to her, so that I was now kneeling next to her.
“Have you ever kissed a mermaid?” I hesitated, but she held a tuff grasp on my cheeks and pressed her lips on mine. It was normal until I felt my lips begin to tingle. Then my fingers, my toes, and I was starting to feel dizzy. I kicked and screamed against her lips, but she didn’t let me free. The feeling was agonising. I could feel her sucking every last bubble of air from my lungs. The room began to spin just as she let me go.
I collapsed to the floor and gasped desperately for breath. Panicked, I clenched my fist and pounded on the door. It swung open and my breath hitched when I saw who it was.
Georgia.
