Chapter 33: Transference
Location: ???
The area was dim with a few lights on.
Soon, all the lights turnes on to reveal 4 individuals standing around
Homunculus: Lust
Homunculus: Gluttony
Homunculus: Pride
Homunculus: Envy
The four Homunculi noticed one another and immediately questioned what was happening.
"Well well. Seems we've all been summoned. Well, at but three of us." Said Lust.
"Hm? Oh yeah your right. Where the hell is Greed!? Sloth!? And where's Wrath been!? Haven't seen him in months!" Shouted Envy.
"Did, the state alchemists, kill them all?" Wondered Gluttony.
Pride simply sighed.
"Listen you three. Sloth is still regaining form from an earlier incident. We don't know how long it'll take. Greed's still doing his usual solo act. God knows where he is. And as for Wrath, he's dead."
The other three homunculi gasped in shock.
"W-What!? Not funny Pride! You think we're gonna fall for that shitty lie!?" Envy said as he shouted at Pride.
"A few days after Christmas Day, Wrath got into battle with Akira Mustang."
"Akira?" Questioned Gluttony.
"Akira? What reason would Wrath have to attack him?" Asked Lust.
"Why else? To help that stupid apprentice of his, Alex Mustang."
"Alex Mustang? Hey now. That name sounds familiar." Said Envy.
"That's because he's the nephew of Flame Alchemist Roy Mustang. It's dumb. Wrath entrusting an actual human. His death was inevitable." Coldly said Pride.
"So what now? Are we the SIX Deadly Sins?" Said Envy with a smirk as he chuckled
That was until a voice boomed in the area.
"Your both wrong Envy and Pride. We are still the Seven Deadly Sins and Wrath is indeed still alive."
The Homunculi all looked happy to hear this voice.
"Well well, our creator is here." Said Pride. "How the hell is Wrath still alive. No way you were able to salvage the remains of his Philosopher's Stone. His body sank to the bottom of the oce-."
Pride stopped talking the moment he saw an arm from the shadows holding a vile of red liquid.
"The remains of Wrath are still intact. Bradley's death, while foolish was an unfortunate one. Either way, I've already targeted a suitable replacement."
"Already!? That was fast!" Said a shocked Envy.
"Envy. Lust. In a few days Black Ops HQ will hold a funeral for Bradley. Go attend it and find the candidate."
Envy and Lust walked away as the creator chuckled.
"Let the games begin."
A Few Days Later
One thing was for certain.
The past holiday season was one Alex definitely wouldn't ever forget.
Reuniting with his mom, his father, Bradley's death, and then him ending the year by finally putting his father away for good.
Life finally felt complete for Alex.
Curently, he was in his apartment room getting dressed for Bradley's funeral at HQ.
As he was getting dressed, he had been informed by Yae that Akari wasn't home and that she'd be back later.
Alex wondered where his mom could've gone.
Little did he know, she was seeing someone familiar.
Location: Lastation Park
On a bench atop a hill overlooking a pond sat Roy Mustang.
He sat there, thinking over the past and current events.
It had just now sank in for Roy that his dream of being Führer had just happened, just, in a way he had never expected it to happen.
Before Bradley was pronounced dead, Roy had a small gut feeling that he'd become Führer, though he didn't believe it.
Now, just a few days later, he's being set to become the official Führer of Black Ops HQ on Bradley's funeral. Roy had requested for it to be after Bradley's death but Riza had told him that everyone couldn't wait anymore.
As Roy sat there, he heard footsteps approaching and eventually he saw his unofficial sister in law Akari sit next to him.
"I'm suprised to see you here Akari."
"I come to the park whenever I want Roy."
'Yeah. Mostly when I'm not here."
"You make it sound like you ruin my day."
"Well, you aren't exactly the nicest to me Akari."
"What. Was. That?"
"N-Nothing!" Immediately said Roy in quick panic as Akari calmed down.
"I can tell you got something on your mind Roy. Mind telling your sister?"
"Sister in law Akari."
"Doesn't matter. I'm still your sister. Now talk to your time goddess sister."
Roy sighed.
"When I first signed into the Amestrian Military, I had always wanted to be the leader. Führer. When we were transferred to Black Ops HQ, my goal to be Führer increased more."
"Yeah. I know how badly you wanted it."
"When I rose through the ranks, many people and even Bradley agreed that once he stepped down, I'd be the next in line. It was obvious, but..."
"But what? You achieved your dream right?"
"I didn't wanna achieve it this way. I was prepared to wait for a few more years to become Führer. For Bradley to step down. But this, his death, its all too sudden."
"I see."
"I just, feel like I'm not ready. I haven't waited long enough."
Akari was shocked.
For once in her life, she was seeing Roy Mustang, a man who was always boastful and extemely, doubt himself.
Akari placed a hand on Roy's and smiled at him.
"Roy. Aside from Riza, I know you a lot. I'm positive your ready. You won't fail. You'll be an amazing Führer."
Roy smiled and got up.
"Thank you Akari. Well, I better be going now. Riza and Alex and probably waiting for me."
Akari nodded and got up.
"Good luck Roy." Said Akari as she walked away.
[TimeSkip]
Bradley's funeral definitely was a somber and quiet one.
The casket was carried to the spot where it would be burried as three men one by one shot once from their rifles at a time.
The dirt was slowly piled onto the grave and at that moment, Alex broke into tears and hugged Roy who immediately hugged back to comfort him as well as Riza.
Soon, the dirt was done was Bradley's casket was now buried under as everyone saluted at his tomb which read
His Excellency
Führer Bradley
Slowly, many left and the only ones there were Alex and Roy.
"You okay kid?"
"Y-Yeah Uncle Roy. I'm fine."
Roy smiled as soon, a Black Ops employee had arrived.
"Führer Mustang. I need help with something. Can you come with?"
"Sure no problem. See ya tomorrow Alex. Tell Akari I said hi."
With that, Roy and the Male employee walked away as stared at them.
'Truth. This feeling. What're you trying to tell me?'
"Alex listen. Something's bad is gonna happen."
Soon the employee and Roy stood at a tree.
"Well, what's the issue?" Asked Roy.
The male smirked and red lighting flashed over him and soon the male shape shifted back to normal form, Envy.
"An Ouroboros!? Your a-!?"
Right before Roy said Homunculus, he suddenly felt two long spears stab deeply into his lower left abdomen.
He looked down to see blood drip down and two long spiky black nails stick out.
He coughed blood and look back to see Lust.
"Y-You both, a-are."
"Congrats Flame Alchemist. Your next."
The nails were pulled out as Roy fell over and passed out.
Mustang woke up in the dark. He immediately tried to sit up, but couldn't move-something was holding him down.
Restraints, he saw through the dimness, strapped over his shoulders, stomach, and legs, binding him tightly in place. He was lying on some kind of bed.
He surveyed his surroundings. It was a large, windowless room, possibly underground, and barely lit.
The ceiling, walls and floors were covered with a large number of pipes, leading to a central location that he couldn't see from his restrained position.
Then his eyes made out the figure of Envy standing off to one side watching him with an bored expression. "Oh," said Mustang. "It's you."
Envy snickered at Roy's response.
Mustang saw that his wound from Lust's blade-like fingernails had stopped bleeding as he felt no pain at all.
He craned his neck until he could see an older man with glasses and a mustache approach.
He was wearing a doctor's coat as he turned on a utility lamp over Mustang's head.
Now it was much too bright, and he squinted painfully at the light shining in his eyes. The doctor began prodding at him, murmuring, "Yes, this specimen is in good shape, and still fairly young. He has a good chance."
He broke into a grin, revealing a gold-capped front tooth.
"A good chance for what, exactly?" Mustang asked, now even more alarmed.
"Surviving," leered the doctor.
The next to approach was a tall, strange, middle-aged man with long blond hair and a beard, wearing a long white robe. This man was definitely in charge; he moved slowly, with an imposing air, and both the doctor and the homunculus immediately deferred to him. "It is ready?" the man asked, inclining his head toward Mustang, his voice deep and ponderous.
"Yes, my lord," responded the doctor.
The blond man stood absolutely still, but his forehead began to glow. As Mustang watched in horror, a crevice slowly opened within the glow, revealing a structure that looked like an eye turned sideways.
It began to drip a red substance, which congealed into a blob; when it had reached about the size of large grape, the blob rolled down the man's face, then fell into his outstretched palm.
He turned and presented his hand to the doctor, who carefully scooped the red substance into the mouth of a large syringe. The doctor's expression was reverential, his hands shaking slightly as if with excitement, as he finished assembling the syringe.
Mustang swallowed. He had a terrible feeling that whatever that red substance was, they were about to inject him with it.
"What the hell is that?" he exclaimed, struggling futilely inside the restraints. "What are you doing?"
The doctor began swabbing the inside of Mustang's right arm with alcohol. "This is the Philosopher's Stone," he grinned. "Isn't it wonderful?" And with no further explanation, he jammed the needle into Mustang's vein.
The pain was like nothing Mustang had ever felt. He seized, and his whole body went rigid, as the substance-whatever it was-coursed through him, invading his entire body. It felt as if acid were running through his veins. He would have screamed in pain if he had been physically able; instead he could only gasp and gurgle as his lungs desperately fought for air. Blackness gripped him as his mind began to warp in out of consciousness. His last coherent thoughts were of HQ, Riza, Akari, and Alex.
Amid the agony, he was dimly aware of the blond man peering down over the bed, with a coldly curious gaze that a boy might use to examine an insect. "Will you be the one to accept my wrath?" he intoned. The voice was growing fainter, the image farther away, as if Mustang were falling away from it. "Or will it be someone else..."
Sometime much later, Mustang felt himself gradually returning to consciousness.
"...an even better specimen than Bradley. He's recovered in less than half the time," the gold-tooth doctor's voice was saying. Mustang opened his eyes, saw that he was addressing the blond man. Father, Mustang remembered hazily.
"Even the Ultimate Eye-it's on the right side this time-formed without destroying the original. The iris is hidden, but intact," the doctor continued. He looked over and noticed that Mustang was watching him. "Good. You're awake. How do you feel?"
The haze of the ordeal was fading, and he felt a new energy coursing through his body.
At that moment, he knew what happened.
Roy's eyes widened.
He was no longer just Roy Mustang.
He, was Wrath.
