Chapter 8👑
Karaye, Kano.
April 18.
Aneesah stared at the man she clearly remembers as the memory is imprinted in her head well enough in High Definition.
The smirk on his face didn't falter one bit and that confirms her suspicions that he remembers her too. How could he not? What she did was unforgettable.
She silently prayed hoping that he's not the groom because if he is, then, this is bad----so bad. But then again, she wondered, of course it's him; the other two men are clearly his brother and father so that means he's her husband to be!
Ya ilahi!
She immediately looked away not wanting anyone to notice the bit of reunion they're having by just their facial expression. Unknown to her, Daihaah noticed it. What she didn't know however is that this is a very special reunion that Sultan Omar has been looking forward to since that incident that made him think about the mystery lady nonstop.
And now, she's his wife to be, they just gave him want he wants on a silver platter without knowing it.
Knowing that he would get to talk to her later, he decided against saying anything at the precise moment.
He, his father, brother and two other men that followed behind them, walked further into the chambers and sat adjacent Baba. After all, Sultan Kabir is a King too.
Prince Aamir couldn't take his eyes off Daihaah, not one bit. It's not his fault though; it runs in the El Khabir men's blood to be that curious about their soon to be wives. Yesterday when they arrived there in Karaye in their Karlmann King SUVs, he didn't hesitate when his elder brother, Sultan Omar suggested they stalked the girls, their future wives.
No, he didn't call it stalking. He called it observing the women that would forever be part of their lives.
He watched her every move from his car which he parked amidst of Sultan Omar and Suhad's car.
Sultan Omar couldn't take his eyes off Aneesah either.
The way the two sisters cared for the two little girls caught the two brothers' attention in the most unexplainable way. It was as if they were hypnotized by these two sisters, everything they do impress them more than they already do.
They both obviously have good characters. That's good enough for the two brothers.
Unknown to the brothers, the women know nothing about being betrothed since birth—for their safety of course. The El Khabirs wouldn't have agreed to such betrothal had the safety of the two women not been at risk.
To the women, this is just merely some arranged marriage made by their Uncles and aunts to get rid of them. To top it all, Daihaah doesn't know that in a year to come she'll be Prince Aamir's wife.
To her, she will be married to Muhsin.
If only she knew all those were just illusions of hers and fake hope from her loved ones.
Because Suhad is the eldest son of the Emir of Gombe, he came on behalf of his father who couldn't attend due to some personal problems he had to take care of.
He knew that someday he'll be the King, so he might as well start taking part in the emirates affairs. Besides, he is more than happy to come to Karaye since he'll be with Prince and Sultan.
Even though Aamir wedding with Daihaah isn't until in a year, he still couldn't take his eyes of her. She is beautiful, ma sha Allah.
He had never met her before, but her resemblance to Hajiya Aisha and Alhaji Uthman is enough for him to know that she is the girl that was betrothed to him.
After exchanging pleasantries which Adda Anee kept shut throughout afraid to even dare look at Sultan Omar in the eyes, Sultan Kabir asked Adda Anee; "Aneesah, how do you want your wedding to be? I suppose you want to have some events right?"
Adda Anee slowly nodded which he took as a yes.
He nodded, then smiled. "Well considering that Fatimah Aneesah wasn't aware of this marriage till a few days ago, we decided that only the Nikah shall take place on Saturday. The conveyance and events shall take place in two months' time giving the new couples a few months to bond. And as a gift from me to my daughter in law, a gift of Lexus to welcome you to the El Khabir family." Sultan Kabir said with a wide smile on his face handing the car key over to Adda Anee.
She refused to collect the key out of shyness but before anyone all say anything, Umma reached out and collected the key with a wide grin plastered on her face.
"Thank you" Aneesah muttered.
"No need to thank me, you're now my daughter, this is nothing" That came from Sultan Kabir.
"Thank you Sultan. Even when the ties hadn't been knotted yet, you're still treating the amanah I gave you, my daughter, as your own. I couldn't be happier knowing that my daughter is in safe hands" Alhaji Uthman Fareed said to Sultan Kabir meaning every word he just uttered.
He then turns over to Sultan Omar "Omar, I give my eldest daughter's hand in marriage to you; she's now your amanah. Now all is left for you is to prove to me that I didn't make a mistake giving her to you. Promise me you'll love and cherish my daughter, treat her like the princess I raised her to be" He said in a serious tone, all trace of lark gone from his tone.
Adda Anee's eyes well up at his words, at that moments all thoughts she had about her father not loving her and wanting to get rid of her is thrown through the window, dumped in a trash can, sealed, burnt and disappeared into thin air.
"Of course. I promise I'll love and cherish her like a wife deserved to be. But I do not promise to treat her like a princess; to me she's so much more. Instead I promise to treat her like the Queen she is. I'll take care of your daughter and handle her with fanatical care and love. I don't know her well enough to say that she's my life, but eventually I know that she'll be. So, Sultan Uthman I promise to be the best husband I can be to your daughter" Omar Faruk said to Alhaji Uthman. His tone matching the determination and honesty rolling from his statement of vows. That is, if it can be called that.
Adda Anee's heart melted at his words, a rush of blood tinted on her cheeks and right then she Thanked Allah for the excess melanin in her body hiding her flushed crimson red cheeks which can't be seen.
But somehow, Sultan Omar knew that she was blushing so he winked at her which other people didn't notice because they were flabbergasted by his speech.
Is he really saying that he'll love and treat her as his wife; after all she did and said to him. God! She will be so embarrassed when she gets to talk to him alone.
No one is to be blamed in this situation except her sharp tongue.
Daihaah couldn't be happier by her soon to be brother in law's speech. She believed every word he said knowing that he meant it. This means that Adda Anee is in good hands.
Mahira who is sitting next to Daihaah awed. "Oh My Allah! He's a keeper. Let him take me as his wife instead if she doesn't want" She said hand fanning herself.
"Mahira can you hear yourself? You're getting married in a few months yet here you are drooling over another man" Daihaah sent her a fake glare not bothering to hide the smile that made its way on her face. She knows Mahira too well, she's just saying what's on her mind but it doesn't actually mean anything to her.
"And so, shebi I'm not married yet?" She rolled her eyes playfully.
Daihaah sighed and look at her sister, she can definitely see a future for that duo, a happy future that is. Albeit she knows they'll be rocky moments, but she's sure they can make it.
Aamir stared at Daihaah who is unaware of his gaze on her. He prayed to be just like his brother, if not, maybe more. Even if she doesn't know him, he'd already fallen in love with her and he'll gladly take a bullet for her any day, any time.
Ok, that's a lie.
Taking a bullet for her is so intense; he'd rather cry for her when the bullet hits her instead than to sacrifice his life.
After more minutes of finalizing the date for wedding events, they all decided to leave the couples to get to know each other.
Adda Anee felt beads of sweat form on her face as she nervously bit she lower lip, something she always do when she's nervous. The carpet never looked as interesting as it did at the moment considering that her whole attention is on it. She fiddled with her fingers nervously tracing the intricate design on her laffaya.
Sultan Omar just stared at her with an amused expression on his face. Who knew that the lady he spent 10 months looking will turn out to be his wife and would actually be nervous of him. Life is definitely full of surprises. Especially after the stunt she pulled with him.
"So, we meet again my dear wifey" He teased.
Aneesah gulped, then cleared her throat to wash away all her fear. "Can we pretend what happened before never happened, please?" She tried to sound confident, even though she's anything but.
"Forget what?" He's feigning innocence.
She slightly narrowed her eyes at him. They both know he know shwat she's talking about. Still, she decided to say it to get it over and done with. Dragging it won't do her any good. "That day..."
He cut her off. "Oh that day! Now I remember"
That fateful day, 10 months ago...
Adda Anee walked out of the mall holding multiple bags in her hand. She rolled her eyes, muttering incoherent words under her breath because she's annoyed to the core.
Her manager called her amidst of her shopping spree and told her that she is needed at work for a photo shoot. What irked her was that it wasn't even in her schedule.
She opened the back door of her Sleek Blue SUV and threw the shopping bags angrily in it. She then stumped to the driver's seat, got in, and angrily turned on the engine.
She jerked the car in reverse stormily but stopped midway when she heard the loud sound of her car hitting another car behind her. Her eyes widened in fear that she might've caused some damage.
She quickly opened the door and walked out to apologize to the owner of the car. Her eyes widened and her mouth hung open at the huge scratch in front of a sleek black freaking Buggati's La Voiture Noire.
A tall figure angrily emerged from the car.
The angry figure spotted a five o'clock shadow, sharp jaw line, and tempting muscles that show through the white button up shirt he had on. She couldn't see his eyes because they were covered with dark shades. What she could see though is the slenderest and pointed nose she has ever laid her eyes on.
And yes, she was exaggerating but still.
She could see his lips moving, hands threw up in the air exasperatedly but she couldn't make out anything he's uttering.
"Excuse me Miss whatever your name is, can you stop drooling at me for one second? Geez, you just hit my car with your freaking SUV!" He yelled.
What he said seems to snap her back to reality "Excuse me?" she asked in disbelief.
She shoved her hand into her hand bag and pulled out as much money as her hand was able to pick out. "Here!" She yelled, "Take this freaking money and repair your fucking car with it. If it's not enough, contact my assistant and I'll pay for your crap car repair. Who knows, it might just be your daddy's car and of course, I wouldn't want to get you in trouble with your father, right?"
She pulled out more money and threw it at his face "Here! Use this for surgery. You know regular people want plastic surgery, but you! You need mental and attitude surgery. Now, if you'll excuse me I actually have work to do something you don't have" With that she spun on her six inch heels, walked back to her car, and slammed it angrily shut before she drove out.
He wasn't angry, no, he was actually amused.
No one has ever stepped up to him and dared to humiliate him like that, but she did. She had the audacity to throw money at his face; does she not know who he is? Which generation does she live in to not know Omar Faruk El Khabir?
He smiled amusedly. She's different, he thought to himself. Right then, he vowed to look for the mysterious girl who left away with his heart when she sprinted out of the driveway.
A ridiculous way to fall for somebody right?
But, all his life, he has seen too many vanilla flavors that strawberry seems so addictive after a while.
"How can I forget the day a mysterious lady threw money at my face after she scratched my new car?" He asked, clearly mocking her.
Her cheeks heat up, she wanted nothing more than for the earth to open and consume her just to save her from this embarrassment. But, Sultan Omar has other plans of teasing her more. He wouldn't leave her off the hook that easily.
"She also threw more money at my face telling me to get mental and attitude surgery. Apparently, I have a lack humility" He said feigning being offended but deep down, he wants to laugh out loud.
"That was not what I meant!"
"But, it's what you said sweetheart" He raised a brow challenging her to say a word more knowing fully well, he won this time around.
Releasing a low breath, she made up her mind to utter the two words she had been dreading since she saw him. "I'm sorry" She mumbled, but he heard her.
He kept shut and stared at her for a moment. She looks more beautiful looking up at her closely. The black laffaya added more to her beauty. He has never found that thing interesting or attractive but when she wears it, she made it look beautiful not the other way around.
"You're forgiven" He smiled. She smiled back but it was short lived when he added. "But you still have to pay for my car. We both know it's too expensive to be compensated by the money you threw at me" He shrugged.
She looked up and him, her eyes slightly narrowed" I paid already" She said, her tone now above a whisper.
He looked back at her; his facial expression matching hers. "Do you really think that could pay for the damage you caused my car? My poor car, I just bought it the other day yet the next day you ruined it"
She fully narrowed her eyes at him "You are rich, you have money, pay for it"
"Me?! It's my father's money not mine. I don't even have the money to pay for my own meal" He used her words against her.
She closed her eyes momentarily "Fine! How much is it?" She asked trying to keep her anger leveled, she is seriously annoyed right now but it's partially her fault so she can't blame him.
He smiled, glad that he got the reaction he wants out of her. "No. I don't want your money" He shook his head pretending to think.
"What do you want?" She asked cautiously.
"I won't tell you when, I won't tell you what, but you'll find out soon"
"Fine!" she replied not willing to back down.
Bring it on Omar. She thought in her head.
