Part 25
-
[12:42] 🔥Yoongi: Send the girl a gift all the way from Japan and I don't even get a thank you?
[12:42] 🔥Yoongi: Do I need to give you a lesson on manners, Yoongi's girl? ;)
-
Sh*t.
Getting a message from your long distant crush was the last thing you wanted to happen right now.
The sudden reminder of him sent you instantly crashing down from cloud 9 after shamelessly returning from your spontaneous lunch date with Taemin.
And the fact that you enjoyed your date only made you feel a trillion times more guilty than you did before.
God f*cking dammit....
Why do I always have to go and complicate things for myself.
When you came back to the cafe you were already more than 10 minutes late and you could tell Ji-eun was struggling with the sudden rush of lunch-break customers all by herself, leaving you with no time to properly get a handle on any of this right now.
Trying your best to suppress the overflowing feeling of guilt in the pit of your stomach, your lack of will power wasted no time in madly typing out the first and only thing you could muster in this moment.
-
[12:43] Yoongi's Girl💜:
I'm sorry
-
As soon as you hit send, you shoved your phone back into your pocket, running back into the kitchen to save your best friend from the waves of customers that were coming through the door.
I can't deal with this right now.
-
For the rest of your shift you worked in relative silence, your conflicted feelings completely consuming everything so much so that even talking seemed like an effort.
Your anti-social aura must have been so visible that even Ji-eun didn't dare ask how your date had gone when the rush finally came to a stop.
The grueling shift finished without even a whisper of question from her, though she did pull you in for an extra long hug on your way out the door, knowing exactly what you needed in the moment.
You don't really remember the walk home from work, but you were slightly shocked when you finally realized you were standing right out the front of your apartment.
Unlocking the door and walking inside, you could feel all of your pent-up frustration slowly grow numb as you kicked your shoes off and slumped into the nearest chair in sight.
What. was. today.
How could you be so...
So selfish.
Of course, your last in-person interaction with Mr.742 wasn't ideal.
Frankly speaking, it still terrifies you.
His unexplained, cold and deadly stare from last Thursday was still freshly burnt into your mind.
Mr. 742's growing backlog of questions without answers was beyond ridiculous now, like why things were left on such a hostile note last week, why he's currently in Japan of all places, and his entire mysterious game that he's playing to name a few...
He seriously has a lot of explaining to do.
But does any of that excuse you for going on a date with someone else and enjoying it the way you did?
The more you thought about it, the worse it sounded.
Waiting until your crush left the country, sneaking behind their back and go on lunch dates with another guy.
And not just any other guy.
A literal god of perfection.
F*ckboy or not, Taemin is the type of guy you only read about in fairy tales or fan fictions.
He's almost too perfect and too nice.
You really did have to go and over-complicate everything by letting him into the picture, didn't you?
Your brain was in such a complete scramble of emotions that it left your body physically tired the more you thought about it all.
If only you could hibernate in your apartment with an unlimited supply of pizza and K-dramas, then hopefully all of your problems would disappear.
After a few minutes of laying upside down on your couch, hoping all the blood rushing to your head might give you a new positive perspective, you quickly got bored and pulled your phone out from your backpack, remembering now that you hadn't touched it since you came back from your lunch break.
Quickly recounting the unexplained apology you sent to 'Not Yoongi' earlier, you wondered if he actually saw any meaning to it.
But when you checked your chat screen, you were disappointed to find he hadn't even read it yet.
Scrunching your face up at the last conversation you had, you wondered what could keep him so damn busy that he wasn't able to read the message you literally sent only 1 minute after his.
The audacity.
I guess I deserve this...
-
Waking up the next morning, you must have hit your snooze button at least 7 times as you desperately clung to any extra time in bed as you could possibly allow.
The side of your neck was so painful from falling back into your bed last night and instantly passing out in the most twisted position, the condition of your body being the least of your concerns in the gloomy state you were in the night before.
You let out a gurgling groan as you tried to roll out of bed, any slight movement causing your body to seize up in pain.
Great.
Just perfect.
At least you didn't need to worry about putting in any extra effort to look nice this morning, your masked 'Genius' being a country away and unable to see your troll face up-close and in person having some perks to it after all.
It must have only taken 10 minutes flat for you to get ready, tying your hair up in a high ponytail and applying only a light layer of make-up.
Now with so much free time to kill, you walked over to your fridge out of instinct, despite the fact that you already knew it would be completely empty.
Your lazy ass hadn't been to the grocery store since before Mr.742 surprised you last week, all of the snacks and drinks he bought while you were sick disappearing in less than a day.
The sudden reminder of his sweet gesture from only a week ago making your heart ache a little.
What the hell am I doing...
Taking a proactive approach for once in your life, instead of wallowing in self pity and moping around in your apartment, you decided to leave your negative attitude behind and go to work, still having enough time to get breakfast at the near-by bakery on your way.
By the time you arrived at the cafe to sign into your shift, you felt so bloated from all the pastries you stuffed your face with only minutes before, your slow metabolism not used to anything other than cold coffee on an empty stomach for breakfast.
All the while, your fake new positive outlook was busy making mental notes every few seconds about getting a new gym membership and going healthy-food shopping after work today.
Let's see how long this will last...
After setting your bag down in the back room and walking out to the front of the cafe to greet your coworkers, you almost got whiplash from the double take you gave Hana, her appearance making her almost unrecognizable.
Her flawless porcelain white skin now accessorizing a shiny black eye.
What the hell.
Your eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets must have instantly given your total and utter shock away, her usual spear-tackle greeting now being replaced by a very sheepish and awkward hello.
"Unnie-" she croaked out, timidly waving her hand at you.
"-What happened?!" the words instantly left your mouth before your filter could save you, pointing your finger directly at her bruise.
"Oh-I-uh... Well.. the other night," she stuttered, stumbling to get her words out. "I kind of uh- some girl tried to fight me-"
"What?!" you let out, struggling to keep a straight face.
No f*cking way...
"I swear I didn't know he had a girlfriend..." she pouted back, cupping her face with both of her hands.
"You're joking, right? Tell me everything!" You blurted out, maybe sounding a little too excited.
I am living for this!
You gave a few seconds to quickly stifle the laugh that was begging to come out, feeling the need to sound more sympathetic, before listening to the rest of her story.
Deep down you think you knew this was bound to happen to her at some point, knowing her man-stealing capabilities and knowing that not everyone else in this world is as nice or forgiving as you.
Apparently after sending Hana off in the back of a taxi on Saturday night, she drunkenly climbed out 50 meters down the road and stumbled into another bar.
Credit to her for going so strong and continuing to party, because you were positive she was too wasted to even walk, yet alone dance and flirt with other girl's boyfriends.
If it weren't for her unfortunate taste in boys that were already taken, perhaps her night would have turned out a lot nicer.
Then again, sometimes you need to learn things the hard way, and maybe this can be a perfect character building opportunity for her.
"So that means (Y/N) wasn't the only one you p*ssed off that night," Ji-eun butted her way into your conversation. "Girl, you have got to stop this or else you're going to have no friends."
Harsh..
But the girl's got a point.
"I'm warning you now Hana, if you ever go after a boy you know I already got my eyes on, I will cut you, skin you alive and hang your hide outside the cafe like a flag, got it? LOL." she continued in a half joking, but threatening tone, slamming both hands onto her hips for a finishing blow.
Strange thought, but you could always imagine Ji-eun wielding a knife for some reason.
Now it's all starting to make sense..
"Wow, okay girl. I think she got your message," you jumped in, grabbing your best friend by both shoulders to try and lighten the mood.
"That reminds me," Ji-eun sang, the aggression in her voice quickly evaporating as she excitedly turned around to face you. "When are you and your Mr.742 coffee dude bro going to set me up with his cute friend?"
"Oh my god, not this again!" you huffed. "You've only seen him for 2 seconds of your life and you have not shut up about him all week!"
"What! He's hot!"
"You can't even see his face! For all you know, he could be hideously deformed or something!" you retorted, the words leaving your mouth too fast for you to properly think about it.
"Yeah? So could Mr.742!" She spat back without any hesitation.
"I'd still date him..." You mumbled under your breath.
"See!? You're such a hypocrite..." Ji-eun scoffed. "But what about Taemin?"
Yeah, what about him...
It was like you had momentarily forgotten about him, the memory of your cute lunch date effectively being tainted as soon as your masked 'Genius' messaged you yesterday.
Before you could even collect your thoughts, Ji-eun already had Taemin's Instagram pulled up, shamelessly stalking his page like it was second nature.
"Is this where he took you yesterday? " she asked, pointing to a new photo that was posted this morning, showing the table of sandwiches he ordered for the two of you and your signature charm bracelet clinging to your wrist in the corner of the picture.
Completely forgetting that you hadn't gotten around to checking your Instagram this morning yet, your usual online ritual being disrupted over an abundance of pastries and gossip about Hana's black eye.
"This boy must have balls the size of grapefruit for posting about his first date with you so fearlessly! I like this one!" Ji-eun snickered, triggering a blush to spread across your face.
It truly was a bold move.
You never posted anything about someone you were interested in until at least a month into the relationship...
Just to be safe.
In all honesty, you were completely taken aback by the unexpected public display, you were so used to being given uncertainty and secrecy from so many of the boys in your past, that you were terrified to let the rest of the world know you even existed.
Times are certainly different to how they used to be, where it's practically on-trend now to be eminently commitment-phobic, the extremely broad spectrum of what it means to be 'in a relationship' growing each day.
The more you thought about Taemin, the more sincere and genuinely serious he seemed, even if he works in a bar surrounded by drunks and initially gave you strong f*ck-boy vibes.
The fact that Taemin appeared to be chasing you, while you were caught up chasing Mr.742 only made you feel even more undeserving of it all.
Some god damned clarity was well over-due with the cloud of problems you were creating for yourself, but you were sure they wouldn't simply disappear on their own, at least not until Mr.742 returns to the country.
"Why is literally everyone in Japan right now..." you groaned out loud.
"To torment you, obviously!" Ji-eun sang, nudging you out of her way so she could grab the freshly baked muffins out of the oven.
"Hey! Turn up the TV!" Hana yelled from the other side of the cafe, you hadn't even noticed her leaving the confines of the kitchen to start organizing the tables.
You reached for the remote under the till, pointing it at the TV to raise the volume before even checking to see what she was so excited to watch.
A smile graced your lips as the 7 boys you adore so much caught your eye, a TV interviewer from Japan questioning them about their personal lives instead of their upcoming album.
Why are reporters always so nosy... you thought angrily to yourself, forever overly-protective over your boys.
Your eyes scanned the subtitles at the bottom of the screen as you followed along reluctantly.
"And how about you, Suga, what would you say your ideal type is?"
Before you knew it, you found yourself leaning over the front counter, all motivation to get your work done completely lost as soon as the camera zoomed in on Yoongi's perfect face.
The boy cleared his throat, dodging a swat from Jimin as he sat up a little straighter in his chair.
"Well, in an ideal world I wouldn't want the person I like to know who I am. As Suga from BTS I mean, or as an idol at all. I just want a natural real connection with someone who isn't afraid to speak up for themselves, be real and straight with me like my brothers do. You come across a lot of insincerity in my line of work..."
You cocked your head to the side as you listened to the boy drabble on, shocked at how much he was so openly saying to this lowly reporter.
"Pfft, good luck with that." Ji-eun scoffed from beside you, startling you slightly as you didn't notice her standing there before.
"Yeah..." you agreed, eyes locking back onto the TV screen, "As if he could ever meet someone who didn't recognize him."
The thought was absurd.
Who could ever be so dumb?
Just as Namjoon cut the boy off from airing out his person business, your phone vibrated in your pocket.
You mindlessly pulled it out, half-expecting a text from Taemin since he was in the forefront of your guilt-ridden mind all morning.

Hi Angels!
Happy new year!! Happy new decade!! 😅
We're only 9 days in and this year has already gone wild worldwide.
All of Australia is still burning alive, which is really heartbreaking. And all of that talk about WWIII has the world anxious. Heck.
But how is everyone? How was your holiday season?? Mine was pretty average. I had to work night shifts over Christmas eve and new years eve from 6pm until 6am... 😒😒😒
Anyways, sorry for yet again another late update. My new years resolution is to update more frequently! Hopefully work and everything else won't be as stressful and crazy this year and I'll be able to focus more brain-power into writing. 🤞
Hope ya'll liked this new chapter! It took me a while to wrap my brain around how to express what I was thinking into actual words... so hope it turned out somewhat okay!
As always, feel free to vote and leave lots of comments or feedbacks! I'm forever living for reading all of the hilarious comments you leave. It genuinely makes my day 💕
