Part 16
~
Your eyes opened to the sound of your name being called, the sweet voice instantly sending you into a trance, leading you down the empty corridor.
Aside from the dim light that was travelling from the far end of the passage-way, you were immersed in total darkness.
But you weren't afraid.
The incessant, raspy voice that was calling out your name had bewitched you into a state of euphoria.
As your slow steps brought you to the end of the corridor, you were met with a closed white door, a familiar sign attached to the front.
"Am I where I think I am..?" you whispered out loud, the unlikeliness of standing in front of his studio momentarily jolting you out of your trance.
You could hear the same voice coming from behind the door, once more calling out to you and pulling you back into your dream-like state.
It was as if something took control of your body as your hand reached up for the handle, swinging the door open and locking your gaze with the mysterious enchanter who had cast this spell over you.
"Yoongi-"
It felt like the wind had been knocked out of you as you took a few steps further into the dimly lit studio, your utter bewilderment of his sudden presence sending you into the 5th dimension.
Of course he looked perfect, as always.
A spitting image to how he appeared in his latest Vlive session.
You lowered your flustered head to look down at the floor as he began taking long steps across the room, the gap slowly closing in between you.
As the sound of movement abruptly stopped, you could feel his warm breath tickle down your cheek, a clear indication that he was now stood right before you.
Too afraid to look up, you struggled to compose your nerves in his overwhelming presence.
Without so much warning, his hand reached beneath your chin and lifted it up, the sudden contact making you flinch at his touch.
I must be dreaming...
There's no way this could be real...
You quickly slammed your eyes shut before they could lock onto his, the situation dawning on you that this dream could soon be coming to an end.
The bitter-sweetness of reality was seeping in and you weren't ready for that yet, forever greedy to savor this moment with him.
"(Y/N), open your eyes," he gently whispered, lulling you out of your lucid thoughts.
Unable to deny him, your body conceded and your eyes fluttered open to be met by...
"You?!"
You gasped, clapping a hand over your now gaping open mouth, startled by the unexpected masked presence.
"Who else were you expecting, babygirl?"
"AHHHHHHHHHH!"
~
Sitting up in your bed in a wild panic, you desperately tried to catch your breath.
No. F*cking. Way.
He is NOT allowed to invade my dream time!
...
"What a frigging nightmare..!" you grumbled out loud to yourself.
Especially after everything that went down the day before, this dream came in such poor timing to say the least.
Struggling to calm down and bring yourself back into reality, you laid still in your bed trying to figure out what time it might be.
Your 5 am alarm hadn't gone off yet, so it must be quite early still.
Reaching down to the end of your bed for your phone, your eyes stung from the brightness of the screen as soon as you switched it on.
4:27 am
Ughhhhh.
You let out a muffled groan into your pillow, still grumpy over the uninvited guest in your dream.
If it weren't for that smug bastard, you might be peacefully dreaming about Yoongi still and enjoying an extra 30 minutes before your alarm would go off.
There's no way I'm going to fall back asleep after that...
I might as well just get up now..
You crawled out of bed, shivering at the early morning coldness that filled your apartment and unenthusiastically started to get ready.
To say you felt like a hopeless case would be the understatement of the century.
Motivation just wasn't coming to you this morning, moving at the slow pace of a snail to get anything done.
What even is the point in trying to look good?
After everything that went down yesterday, you were seriously starting to second guess all of the exchanges you've had thus far with Mr 742.
I wouldn't be surprised if I was just some big joke to him...
Why is it that as soon as you get over that defensive hurdle of letting your guard down, exposing your vulnerabilities and finally start investing your feelings into someone, that they start to disappoint you?
It seems to happen like clockwork, as if it's predestined to happen...
And it always happens.
But why?
Had this happened weeks before, you literally could not have cared any less.
Is this just some cruel trick of life?
Was I actually a trash can in my past life?
It definitely didn't help that after he left, Hana would not shut up about him for the rest of your shift, despite all of the constant glares Ji-eun was firing her.
On a few occasions you acted as a human shield, trying to physically stop your best friend from walking over to her to 'teach her a lesson'.
Ji-eun's fierce loyalty was unquestionable without a doubt, but it was becoming low-key intimidating when it came to your defense with the way Hana was behaving.
Ugh...
Just the thought of it makes your skin crawl.
Her high-pitched, whiny voice carrying on like some kind of broken record.
You're not sure if Hana was doing it intentionally to mess with you, or if she really is that dense to not know.
She did seem like her head might be a little too far up into the clouds, but how could anyone be that oblivious?
Whatever it was, it wasn't cool.
You lost track of time in front of the mirror stewing over it, fixing your face with minimal make-up whenever your mind brought you back into the real world.
You pulled your hair up into a high pony tail, deciding this morning that it would be the perfect choice to fully accentuate the resting b*tch face you're sure to be wearing throughout today's shift.
Might as well go all-out and make myself known...
Still having another 20 minutes to kill before you needed to leave, you subconsciously pulled your phone out.
You felt a sinking feeling in your chest as you opened up your messenger app, bracing for disappointment but all too curious to resist seeing if any unread messages came through last night from a certain someone.
But there was nothing.
Of course there would be nothing.
Why would he waste his time on me when he has a newer, younger toy to play with...
You let out a deep sigh, shoving your phone back into your bag and tied your shoe laces up, deciding you might as well go to work early this morning since nothing else was going to distract you from your thoughts.
Before you knew it, you were already standing out the front of the cafe, not sure where the time had gone in your slow walk over.
Ji-eun gave you a wide-eyed stare as you walked inside, a seemingly knowing look that you must have spent the whole of last night stewing over yesterdays events.
Without uttering a single word, you carelessly shrugged your shoulders and continued to walk down to the back room to drop you bag down before starting your shift.
When you came back out to the front of the cafe you were met with the familiar high-pitched squeal of your new co-worker.
"Unnie!!!"
Hana had practically hurled her body at you, honing in for an over-friendly hug.
"Uhh- good morning," you awkwardly uttered back, never knowing how to show just the right amount of affection to new people.
As you dusted yourself off, you suddenly got hit with that first pang of jealously at her presence.
She seemed to have done something a little different to her hair this morning and you couldn't quite put your finger on it until...
"Unnie! What do you think of my hair? I was hoping you would wear it the same as you did yesterday so then we could be twins!" She pouted, trying to be cute.
Great...
So first she wants to take Mr.742,
Now she wants to take my hairstyle too?
It seemed like an innocent gesture and by now you were probably over-reacting, but after yesterday you weren't sure if you could control your bad temper from accidentally flaring up.
You decided it would be best to walk over to the opposite side of the cafe just to create some space between the two of you.
Ji-eun had already turned the stereo on at max volume and it seemed fitting that 'Seesaw' would come on as the next song.
As you began un-stacking all the tables and chairs out the front, it was too hard to resist singing along to the song as it blared through the cafe.
You felt too far caught up in the moment, basking in the irony of being stuck in your own little seesaw game to even care about how terrible a singer you actually are.
But thanks to the power of BTS and their heavenly music, you were able to distract yourself for the better half of an hour while you completed your morning rounds and empowered yourself into seeing this shift through.
You can do this...
You're better than that...
Who needs dumb f*ck boys anyways, when I have BTS...
It was fast approaching 7:42am now and it hadn't even registered to you, since you managed to momentarily block that kind of negativity from your head.
But that was when you saw a familiar masked face in the corner of your eye, waiting at the front counter for you.
All of those up-lifting thoughts you had moments earlier quickly evaporated into thin air, as you awkwardly looked the boy up and down.
You could feel your knees buckle with anxiety, remembering how he had just appeared in your dream last night, which only made things worse.
You felt overcome with conflicting thoughts, not wanting to serve him, but also not wanting to give Hana the opportunity.
Thankfully Ji-eun must have anticipated this, as she darted over to the front counter to start his order.
As you slunked over to the coffee machine to fill the order he placed, the boy in question didn't take his eyes off you for a second.
It felt like his stare might literally burn a hole right through you.
You made the impulse decision that you weren't going to accept his free hot chocolate this morning, instead slamming his black coffee and his change for your drink onto the counter for him to come up and collect.
Without even a glance in his direction you stalked around the counter, nearly body checking Mr.742 as you angrily made your way over to a nearby table.
You pulled the rag out of your back pocket, furiously scrubbing away at some stains as if you could possibly distract yourself from the frustration and embarrassment burning in your soul.
Too far focused on your rage-cleaning, you hadn't even noticed that your 'Genius' was now standing beside you, that was until his hand reached in to grab your wrist.
Your body froze at the unexpected contact, feeling like time had stopped all around you.
Confusing thoughts swirled around your head as you were unable to move yet alone think of a suitable reaction for this.
What is he doing...?
After a short pause, you finally gained the courage to look up.
His head was tilted and he had taken his sunglasses off, showing you a full display of the seemingly concerned frown he was wearing.
"Is something wrong, Yoongi's girl?"
Oh heck.
You really weren't anticipating being called out so soon, hoping you could magically ignore this entire situation.
Was I really being that obvious?
But before you could even get a single word out, someone else had already beat you to it.
"Oppa! You're here!"
The sound of Hana's high-pitched whine reverberated off the walls as she skipped over to the pair of you, like an over-excited puppy.
"What are you doing with her?" she asked in a confused voice, finger pointed out at your wrist still in his clutches.
You had been too amazingly distracted over how dense she could be, that you'd totally forgotten about it, quickly snatching your hand away from him as soon as she made a spectacle of it.
Now empty handed, you could immediately feel his eyes burn into you, too afraid to look back up at him for confirmation.
"Uh- I'm sorry, what was your name? Nana? Panda...?" He finally spoke up, with an ounce of irritation laced in his voice.
"It's Hana-"
"Right well Hana, I think it's fairly obvious that I'm trying to have a conversation with the girl that I like, so... Do you mind?"
...
Wait...
...
What?!
Those words seemed to roll so effortlessly off his tongue that both you and Hana had to do a double take just to understand what he had said.
"B-but Oppa-"
"I'm not your Oppa... I don't even know you."
It took Hana a moment for it to all sink in, and you weren't quite sure how you should take everything.
You couldn't help but feel bad for the poor girl, but also secretly relished in the swift, brutality of her rejection.
Your body was also working overtime, desperately trying to contain the wild blush that was threatening to take over your face from his out of the blue confession.
With Hana now gone, it once more left the two of you alone and you could feel his whole attention being tuned back onto you.
You could feel your anxiety going around in circles just trying to keep up to speed with where this conversation might be headed.
"I'm sorry..." he mumbled, taking a step closer to you. "Why didn't you take my drink this morning?"
"I-I-uh..." you stuttered back, not quite sure how to answer his question without sounding like a total idiot.
Your battle in concealing your blush had long failed, and you were hoping that if you stared down at your feet for long enough he might not notice.
Damn this high pony tail...
Still waiting for an answer to his question, Mr.742 finally reached beneath your chin to lift your head up, seemingly growing impatient for your attention.
But upon seeing your embarrassed bright red face, his worried expression quickly disappeared into an eye smile, forever taking satisfaction out of your awkwardness.
"Cute.." he uttered under his breath, totally unaware of just how loud your heart was pounding through your chest.
The uncomfortable silence in the air was soon brought to a close as the sound of a phone ring went off, sending Mr.742 rummaging through his pockets to put an end to the sudden noise invasion.
"Hello? -Uh, yeah. I'll be there soon."
The call was over as soon as it began, with him pulling his phone away from his ear and turning back to you.
"I'm sorry, I have to go or I'll be late to practice... I'll message you later." he mumbled, giving you an adorable eye smile before putting his sunglasses back on and turning around to walk out the door.
Your mouth was gaping wide open, unable to muster up a response before he had disappeared from sight, still trying to catch up on everything that had happened in the last 5 minutes.
He actually likes me?
...
Practice...?
