Chapter 13
Kylo
Aria once said Xander doesn't need to feed the floor. But the ice creams in my hands seem to disagree as they melt and fall drop by drop onto the floor. And yet they still feels warm against my skin.
Aaron's expression matches my own and I know we share the same thoughts too. The castle has been uninhabited for decades now. No one was allowed inside even before that. All the royal meets or process of condemning prisoners used to take place in the mini castle constructed at Zion.
Besides, it is quite rare Lucifer and Lillith summon someone these days. Specially not someone who is still in school. My rise up the leader board may be surprising, but it could not have been suspicious, right?
“Do you have any idea why?” I ask as I toss the ice creams away and shamelessly lick my fingers for the leftover chocolate on my hands.
“If I had to guess, it would be related to the competition.” he replies.
“No shit, Sherlock.” I snap. Maybe I should tone down my rudeness towards the crown prince, but my brain can't seem to process that. I don't see a royal when I look at him anymore, I just see a friend and maybe something more.
“It is probably nothing, don't worry.” He says but I know he doesn't mean it. I sigh as I fall back down on the floor and lean against the wall holding my craved name. I guess my happy ending just lead to another beginning.
Time melts faster than the ice cream on tye floor as my nerves take over. Aaron puts a comforting hand over my shoulder and it feels easy to let my eyes close. It is easy to think that this dream or nightmare might not be real when I wake up. But the lie I tell myself never seems to be true.

I wake up with a jolt and it takes me a moment to realize I’m not on earth listening to one of my mom's silly stories. Instead I find Aaron beside me, his face pulls into a small smile “My arm is numb.”
I quickly get back up as I realize I've been using his arm as my pillow. “How long was I asleep?” I ask, utterly and completely embarrassed.
“I don't know, I passed out too. Until you started drooling, that is.”
“I do not drool.” I defend myself. Aaron chuckles and moves his arm away from me. Thankfully, the spot on his shirt where my face would have been is completely dry. One embarrassing moment avoided, just have another two hundred to go.
“You ready?” Aaron asks.
“For what?” I reply even though I know the answer would not have changed since the moment I fell asleep.
“For getting more ice cream. You destroyed those two.” He says, pointing at the chocolate puddle on the other side of the room.
Laughter comes easily when I am with him. A few weeks ago I never would have even thought about liking the devil's kid but now, I might as well be in love. We get up and walk upstairs, leaving the carved name behind and I know that this is not the last time I'm going to see it.
We reach the cafeteria, maintaining a respectable distance, but people are staring at us like we are kissing in public. We grab two ice creams and head over to the same table as before. Unsurprisingly, Xander and Aria are still there.
I take a seat next to Aria and Aaron takes the one near Xander. Xander's face right now is worth every moment of my life and death. He looks like he is remembering all the times he's made fun about him. Thank the devil, Aaron can't read minds, or can he?
Aria starts talking from the moment we sit down. “Hello, I’m Aria.”
Aaron smiles, he doesn't need to introduce himself but he does it anyway, “I'm Aaron.”
“No fancy titles? I thought you would at least have a few considering that suit you wear everywhere.”
“I have one, but that isn't important. Right, Xander?” Aaron turns to look at my completely confused friend who starts blabbering like a fish out of water.
“What? Oh, yes. I suppose.” At this point I’m not even sure if he knows what we’re talking about. Aria on the other hand is very interested now. Sometimes, I forget how new she is to all this. I need to warn her to stay away from Lucifer, the third floor washrooms since no one bothered to renovate it since the prision ages and Professor Paranoia-is-his-murder-weapon. It’s the least I can do, afterall her's is the first soul I took.
After almost an hour of Xander being confused and Aria being Aria, Aaron states that we should leave now. Xander finally gets out of his trance to look at us, “To get more ice cream? I need one too.”
Of course. Food is the only thing that can wake him up. “You will get sick if you eat that much.” I reply, hoping he eats at least three more ice creams after I leave.
“Don’t be silly. You can't get sick in hell, right?” Aria asks innocently. But now that I think about it, she may be right.
“Wait, how do the teachers take a sick leave then?” Xander asks.
Aaron chuckles, “I guess hell isn't that different than earth.” He checks his phone before standing back up, “We really have to go now, Kylo.”
I sigh, “Can we just hide here until they get bored and leave me alone? We can even have more ice cream.”
Aaron smiles but he makes no move to sit back down. I finally force my feet to get up and follow him out the door. Teleporting to the castle might have been easy for Aaron but he walks with me instead. Soon enough, we are walking through the trees which look like they are pointing to my ultimate doom.
