{9}The After Effect
Yesterday I chased Diego because he had thrown a snack at me. Today, I face the consequences.
Diego left shortly after I tackled him. My car came twenty minutes later. I felt someone watching me through the mirror that was in the front to help the driver see the surrounding behind the car. I looked up and saw Lucas staring at me with a smirk.
I remembered seeing his group of friends while I was chasing Diego. Crap. He had seen the whole scene.
I've known Lucas since I was in first grade and he was in second. I know how he works. He finds something to use against someone and he will blackmail that person.
Right now, it's morning. I am just getting out of the car that belonged to Luca's mom. Right before I could get inside the building, someone grabbed my arm. Lucas.
"I need to talk to you," he said.
"No, you don't," I replied. "Now let me go."
"Unless you want your mom to know about you chasing and tackling a boy, I suggest you listen."
I didn't protest this time. If my mom found out she would ground me for life.
"I need you to memorize this for me," Lucas aid. He gave me a set of five cards filled with his writing. "You have to say this in front of my friends. All of it."
''Fine."
"Make sure that you've memorized them by Friday."
Today Is Tuesday. I just have three days. Great.
I didn't see Diego until second period. I didn't talk to him, though. Nobody can talk while we are having a lesson during second period. Mr. Venus wouldn't allow it.
I didn't talk to him until lunch. It was when I was in the line to get my food. Diego and Bianca were right behind me.
"How did it go with your mom?" I asked.
"Quite well actually," Diego said. "You didn't get in trouble because apparently, she understood why you did what you did. I'm also grounded because I hit two girls with a bag full of snacks. So, unfair."
"She also said and I quote 'I'm surprised that you didn't get something worse. You should never hit a girl. Every single girl will kill you for that. I can't believe you hit a girl Diego! I've taught you better than that! It's your own fault your so dirty right now, NOT the girl's!'. She honestly surprised me too. I thought she wasn't going to like the fact that her son got beaten up by a girl," Bianca said.
I found the hard to believe. At the same time, I also found it funny. Diego made a face when he noticed that I was trying to contain my laughter. Soon, we got our foods and went our separate ways. Well, they aren't exactly separate ways since we are sitting in the tables that are in front and behind each other.
