Today was no ordinary day in ELA. Today we didn't learn anything.

Fireworks go out in the background.

People sing Hallelujah in a high pitched voice.

But why you ask?

Simple. Today, we talked about each other and our thoughts on each other. It actually started because Silena asked something that lead to Ms. Slater asking us if we wanted to know what she thought of us. Of course, we said yes even after she warned us that she'll say nothing but the truth.

Ever since STAAR testing ended, Ms. Slater had changed the seating arrangements. Now, The desks were organized to kind of form a U. There were four more desks in front of the right side of the U. In front of the four desks was Ms. Slater's desk.

Anyway, she decided to start on the right side of the U and end with the four desks. Unfortunately for Lizbeth, she was the first one on the right side of the U.

"Lizbeth," Ms. Slater said. Lizbeth shyly waved.

"You're like the perfect student. You have good grades and participate willingly."

I know that she directed that last part to me! I... just... know.

"Lindy. You have always been a good student. You talk a little too much every now and then, but overall you're a good student.

"Scarlet. You started off as an amazing student. Getting good grades and everything, but that all changed when your grandmother died. I don't know if you were close to her or not, but something affected your grades."

"Ruby. You are smart and weird. I like that. You always have a weird comment to make, and I love it."

"Paisley, you are living on the moon. You're very smart and you started off the year with very good grades, but over time you became distracted. I would notice you reading or daydreaming and then I would pick on you because I knew that you weren't paying attention."

I then realized that after Paisley came Quincy. I was beside Quincy. Uh-oh.

"Quincy. You are a genius, no doubt about it. You almost always have the right answer and you are what most students here call a comedian. You crack them up, and honestly, you crack me up too. You always get one of the highest grades and you've never failed any of my assignments."

She then turned to me and gave me a smile that told me that she was going to say something about my shyness. "Vanessa." I shyly smiled at her.

"Sweet. Innocent, Vanessa. You are an angel in my class. I've even heard from your other teachers that you are one of their best-behaved kids. You're almost like the perfect student. You're one of the smartest in the class, you're well behaved. The only thing that doesn't make you the perfect student is that you don't raise your hand much. You've only raised your hand about three times this whole school year. Remember, that is the only thing that doesn't make you the perfect student."

"Zoey. Something I've noticed about you is that you're always trying to please me. I love that. You're the type of student that likes to please their teachers. You're very smart and you've never failed anything I assign you. You participate a lot and is always willing to help. You are very well behaved, and you always know when you talk too much. You even tone down your talking when you know you're talking too much. Not a lot of students do that. You are like the perfect student."

"Kim. You are a lot like Vanessa. You're very smart, but you don't participate much. You're not exactly shy, I think that you just don't like to participate much. You have a very quiet voice though."

"Aurore, you're the type of student that loves getting the highest grade. Your competitiveness is part of the reason that makes this class so much fun. You are very smart and just like Quincy, you are hilarious."

"Kamori. You are very smart, you don't give me any problems. That is unless I put you with Heaven or Aurore. Then, we have problems. Unfortunately, you are in between both of them. Overall, you're a really good student."

"Oh no, it's the girl that is the opposite of her name," Ms. Slater said, referring to Heaven. Heaven gaped at her while the rest of the class laughed.

"You know what? I'm going to do you last," Ms. Slater said. She then turned to Damaris.

"Damaris, you are amazing. You're very smart and well-behaved. Of course, you were raised to be well-behaved since your father is a pastor. You always wanted to help me until the...incident. I'm pretty sure that you haven't liked me since the incident."

"Destiny. You are my second most talkative student. Sometimes, I don't think you'll ever shut your mouth. You're a really smart girl, but sometimes you don't use your brain for the right thing."

"Emily. You are definitely one of my favorite students. You always score one of the highest grades on tests and you are always getting good grades."

"Sabrina. You are a very sarcastic person, that will pick a fight just to defend yourself. You are very smart, but sometimes you talk too much."

Then, Ms.Slater turned to the four desks. "Oh no, it's crybaby number 2." Of course, she was referring to Tyler. A couple months back, Tyler had started crying in the middle of class. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago too.

"Tyler. I feel like if you participated more in class, you'll be able to fully understand every topic we cover. I feel like you would get better grades if you paid more attention."

Then, she looked over at Carlos. "Oh no, it's crybaby number one!"

Everyone laughed at that. It was no doubt that Carlos is a crybaby.

"Carlos, you started off as one of my smartest students. I don't know if you had any bad influences, but you definitely changed. You're still smart, but you always use your brain."

After Carlos, came Diego. This is going to be good. Why? Because Diego is talkative. Too talkative. Ms. Slater sighed and tried her best to say her words correctly.

"Diego," she started. "You started off as one of my favorite students. You were one of the first ones whose name I learned. You were doing so well, but then you started to talk. You started to talk too much. I've called your mother a bunch of times. I even know what' on the menu for your dinner. That's how many times I've called your mom, Diego. You're still one of the smartest, but you just don't know how to shut your damn mouth."

Ms. Slater looked next to Diego and let out a sigh of relief. "Finally! A good student."

"Jericho. You are amazing. Every year I do a mini award ceremony. I always have a male and female student of the year. Out of all the boys in the room, you are most likely to win it. You are very very smart and I appreciate you being the last student that I'm going to talk about today."

"What about me?!" Heaven complained. Ms. Slater groaned, remembering that she hasn't told the class about Heaven.

"Right...Heaven," Ms. Slater said. "A couple of years ago, I had your brother as a student. Believe or not, he was worse. Way worse. Both of you are smart. It's just that you don't always use it for the right thing. I know that deep, deep down, you are a good girl. Right?"

Heaven nodded while grinning.

"Okay," Ms. Slater said. "Now, we can get our lesson started-"

"Wait!" Sabrina screamed.

"What?"

"I have a proposition to make. How about we tell you our thoughts about you," Sabrina said.

Ms. Slater considered it, and said, "Okay, why not?"

"What about the ones that don't like you miss?" Destiny asked.

"To the ones that don't like me, let them tell me. I won't kill them for them," Ms. Slater said looking directly at Destiny. She already knows that Destiny doesn't like her.

"Now," Ms. Slater said, "who do we start with?"

"Ooh, me, me!" Sabrina yelled while raising her hand, eagerly.

"Okay," Ms. Slater said. "After Sabrina, it'll be Emily, and then so on."

"Okay," Sabrina said. "So you're the type of teacher that's very strict and mean but at the same time nice and fun. I like that. That's all I've got to say. Thank you for hearing my speech!" By the time she had finished talking she had both of her hands on the air.

After Sabrina, came Emily. She looked rather nervous about it.

"Emily," Ms. Slater said, "It won't matter if you don't like me."

"It's not that."

"Then what is it?"

What Emily said next wasn't what made the class laugh. It's the way she said it.

"Well at first...I was scared of you."

She had said scared in a much higher pitched voice than the rest of the of the other words.

"What?"

"Uh..well I've heard a lot of things about you from your old students. They all said that they were scared of you at one point, so I was scared of you in the beginning. Like, really scared, but as I got to know you, I realized that you aren't as scary as anyone made you up to be. I'm still scared of you, but only in the moments when you're mad at us."

Let's flash forward a lot of people later.. Pretty much everyone talked about how cool or scary Ms. Slater is. Well, except Destiny. Destiny was the only one that said that she liked Ms. Slater but at the same time didn't.

Now, the only students that were left were Jericho, Diego, Carlos, and Tyler. This time Jericho went first and Tyler went last, but Tyler was the only one that said something besides saying he's scared of Ms. Slater. He put it in different words.

"So," Tyler said, "You're a really good teacher. You know how to balance learning and having fun. Plus, you always let us talk about things that happen to us unless it has absolutely nothing to do with the lesson. So, yeah I like you, but sometimes...I think of you as the devil."

The whole class laughed at the surprised face Ms. Slater made.

"Well," Ms. Slater said, "apparently I'm the devil."
