{11}The Tantrum
Today we get our first set of grades. Every six weeks we get our report cards with every one of our grades so far and every single time I'm excited to know my grades. Most students don't want their grades because they know that they didn't do good, but I almost always get good grades. My lowest grade ever was a 79 which was from Science. Other than that, my grades have been an 83 or above. Every time I get my report card I always check everything. I even check the attendance part. I'm obsessed with getting perfect attendance. The last time I was absent was in first grade.
"Is it just me or are you shaking?" Zoey asked me. We were sitting on the wall beside the door to our first-period class. We're always there early and our teacher doesn't open the door until a few minutes before the tardy bell rings.
"Oh, I'm definitely shaking," I said. "Today I get to see my grades!"
"What's your satisfaction range?" she asked. Since I always want good grades I always make sure to have my grades at a certain level. This time I want an 86 or above in all my classes. Whenever I don't reach my satisfaction range (for example that 79 from science), I always beat myself up for it.
"86 or above," I replied.
"Why couldn't it have been 85?"
"Because 85 is too low."
"If I got an 85 then it'll be a miracle for me," Addison (who just sat down beside Zoey) said. I only have 2 classes with her yet I see her 3 times a day. That's because she's Lizbeth's friend and Lizbeth sits with us at lunch.
"If she got anything lower than an 85 it'll be her worst nightmare," Zoey said. "Last time she got anything lower than an 85 was last year when she got an 83 and she was not happy about it. I'm pretty sure that she freaked out when she got home."
If only she had seen when I got my 79.

"Hi Mia," I said as I sat beside her. It's fifth-period and I'm not looking forward to my second least favorite subject. Science. Curse that 79.
"Hi," she said. Mia is the good type of weird just like Paisley. She is socially awkward and she's just as shy as me. At least her face doesn't turn red like mine. She is in my first, sixth, and seventh periods as well. Technically that's about to change since she's going to go to Accelerated Math. That means that she's really good at it and will be learning sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade math.
Science was filled with elements and compounds today. We had to work in partners and then present our work in front of the class. Ava (my partner) did most of the talking. I just said about 5 words during the whole presentation.
During sixth-period, all we had to do was walk around the track four times. I have a couple friends that I have sixth-period with. There's Zoey (obviously), Emily Mclaw, Scarlet West, Amber Smith, Ruby Specks, Aurore Martin, Alya Miller, and Mia.
I have Emily, Scarlet, Ruby, and Aurore for my block period. Sixth period is the only period that I have with Alya and Amber. I knew Alya since I was in the first grade since we both went to the same elementary school. Amber is the only one I don't have any connections to. The only reason that I met her was that she is in Zoey's homeroom. Amber is a year younger than me since she skipped a grade.
Finally, it was seventh-period. The last period of the day. The period where I get my first report card of the year.
For some reason, this period seems to take longer than the others. It takes ten times to look at the clock to find a new minute. I guess you can say I'm a very impatient girl.
When I did get my report card though, I wasn't happy about it at all. It wasn't my grades I was mad about. My lowest grade is an 86 while my highest grade is a 96. What I was mad about is the column that holds the attendance records.
Like I said before I haven't been absent to school since first grade. I take the whole perfect attendance thing very seriously. I have a very bad obsession with the whole thing. I overreact over the smallest of things. If it is about school I will always overreact.
Just imagine my face when I saw that I was supposedly absent twice during Ms.Slater's class. My eyes widened so big that Zoey noticed without having to look at me.
This is basically saying that I skipped class twice. Something that I would never do. I'm too much of a good girl to do something like that. I don't have the guts to talk in front of an audience, so I sure as hell won't be able to skip class knowing that I might get caught.
"What's up?" Zoey asked. She looked at Lindy who seems to be confused as to why I'm acting strangely.
"My life is ruined," I said.
"Let me see," Zoey said. Before I could say anything, she snatched my report card from me and was looking over it. "I don't see anything wrong. You reached your satisfaction range so why......oh." Zoey was in the middle of asking what's wrong when she finally saw the attendance column.
"I'm confused," Lindy said. It took a few seconds for Zoey to explain what was going on to Lindy.
It took a few minutes for me to move again. I was still in the same position I was in when I was holding the report card. I didn't move until the bell rang. I got up from my seat and picked up my binder, and then left the room with Zoey and Lindy not far behind.
"As you can see," Zoey told Lindy, " Vanessa is far from being okay. She hasn't reacted to the situation which means that she's bottling up her feelings. That is bad because she might explode any second now and- AAH!"
Zoey didn't get to finish her sentence because I threw my binder at her which almost hit her in the face. "I'm not going to say anything since I know that if I do then she'll do something even worse."
I just moped around the halls that led to the orchestra room. I bumped into walls every now and then, but I didn't care. When we reached the orchestra room I stumbled in and the sat down next to the row of slots that have my violin. There was only us in the room.
"She's about to explode," Zoey whispered. I stood up and took my violin out. Then, I screamed and threw it towards Lindy who luckily caught it. I started stomping and jumping up and down while screaming. Zoey then dropped everything she was holding and dragged Lindy to the other side of the room which made Lindy drop my violin. Luckily my violin was inside my case and it's had harder falls before.
"It's best to stay as far away as he as possible when this happens. Yet, at the same time you must be able to see her just in case, she does something stupid," Zoey told Lindy.
I was in the middle of kicking the floor and violin when my report card caught my eye. I walked towards it and ripped it in half. I ripped the bottom half of it. Thankfully, that half was blank. I dropped the half of the paper with the grades and started ripping apart the blank half even more.
I began to start jumping up and down again like a mad woman when I heard someone enter the room. I immediately stopped everything I was doing and composed myself. I looked over at Zoey and Lindy and they were both staring wide-eyed at the person that just entered the room.
I turned around to find Diego paralyzed in shock by the doorway.
