"That'll be $20 for you, enjoy your evening." I say, plastering a fake smile across my lips.
As the person leaves, I can't help but groan and lean over the counter, stretching by back. Today's been really long. Black Friday isn't the best day to be working the cashier, but it's better than restocking the aisles.
As I look over, I notice a man with dark red hair, muscled, a lil bit of facial hair, are those tattoos poking out of his sleeves holy shit. He's wearing a hoodie with the sleeves pressed halfway up his arms and jeans and across his eyes are a pair of sunglasses from the stupid tray we have set up. A mirror above them.
Is this guy seriously trying on sunglasses?
"Hey," a man says to my right and I immediately straighten up, pretending I wasn't just checking a random guy out.
"Hello, Sir." I say respectfully as I begin to scan his items. Apples, cereal, milk, broccoli, chicken, toilet paper... "That'll be 122.69 for you."
He begins paying and as I bag the items, I get another glance at the sunglasses boy in the distance, now with a white pair on.
"Thank you." I repeat for the thousandth time today, setting the bags in his cart and watching him leave.
I make sure nobody else is in line before I look back to Sunglasses to see that he's making finger guns at himself in the mirror and I can't hold in the laugh that comes.
He jumps and turns around, a smudge of pink in his cheeks as he sets his sunglasses back down.
"Hey, it's fine!" I call to him, a smile across my lips.
He stays silent, an extremely embarrassed look across his face and I feel horrible for pointing it out in the first place.
Eventually, though, as I'm serving another customer, he turns back to the mirror and picks a few pairs out before heading to the checkout line.
"That'll be 6.28 for you."
The woman continues on once she pays and next thing I know Sunglasses is here with a row of sunglasses on the belt and I blush softly because oh my god he came to my line.
"Hello, Sir." I say, forcing my tone to be stronger than I feel.
"Hey." He replies as I scan each pair. After a moment of awkward silence, I finally speak up with a, "That'll be $60.69 for you."
He slides his card through the payment machine thingy and answers all the questions while I bag the items.
He finally takes his sunglasses and leaves, and I'm a little disappointed that I didn't—
OH MY GOD IS THAT HIS NUMBER?
I grab the small slip of paper with a number and a signature of "-Sunglasses" and I smirk to myself.
I'm definitely calling him tonight.
