Sing Me A Love Song (Geryler Fluff)
Ship: Gerard/Tyler
Words: 680
Work had been shitty. We'd gotten two orders wrong, Dallon had been out sick, Joe was complaining all day, and I was stuck cleaning up at the end of the day. Not to mention rush hour traffic.
As I open the door to the Tyler and I's house, my eyes half shut, I hear a voice singing in the next room over and a ukulele on that boy's hands.
"She asked me, 'Son when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone
Will you take care of me?'
"I will make you queen of everything you see,
I'll put you on the map, I'll cure you of disease."
I shut the door softly and listen closely as Tyler begins strumming some other chords, then sighs.
I continue to set my bag down and hang my coat, careful not to alert him that I'm home because he always gets self-conscious about his voice. It's beautiful. I never want him to stop singing.
"Na, na, na, na, oh-oh
Na, na, na, na, oh-oh
Na, na, na, na, oh-oh
"When the leader of the bad guys sang
Something soft and soaked with pain
I heard the echo from a secret hide away
"He must've forgot to close his door
As he cranked out those dismal chords
And his followers declared him insane.
"I found my way, right time, wrong place as I made my case
"You're the judge, oh no, set me free,
You're the judge, oh no, set me free.
I know my soul's freezing, hell's high for good reason so please
Take me."
I make my way to the bedroom, sliding down the wall oh so slowly and beginning to sing along to his desperate cries softly. Cries I've heard millions of times over. Cries that die out when I'm here.
"Na, na, na, na, oh-oh
Na, na, na, na, oh-oh
Na, na, na, na, oh-oh."
"Three lights are lit but the forth one's out
I can tell because it's a bit darker than the last night's—"
He stops strumming for a moment, absolute silence for a moment.
And then the door opens.
His cheeks go a deep red in embarrassment and he steps back, "S-Sorry, I—"
I've already got him in a kiss, though, wrapping my arms around his shoulders and feeling him relax into my touch.
"You sing beautifully." I whisper.
He swallows, looking away.
"Tyler, look at me."
His dark eyes look up, his cheeks still rosy in embarrassment.
"Sing me a love song." I whisper, "Any song, please."
He swallows, "But—"
I press my finger to his lips and pull him to the bed, letting him sit up with his back on the headboard, handing over the ukulele.
"Please?" I ask.
He shakily takes it, "I'm not good, though. I don't wanna mess up..."
"You'll do amazing." I reply, "I love you."
He gives me a soft smile, "I love you, too, Gee..."
I sit beside him and wrap an arm around him as he thinks for a moment.
Then strums the first chord. It goes for a little bit, and eventually, he begins singing.
"Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay would it be a sin?
If I can't help falling in love with you."
I rest my forehead on his shoulder.
"Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes some things were meant to be.
"Take my hand, take my whole life, too
Cause I can't help falling in love with you,
"Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes somethings were surely meant to be.
"Take my hand take my whole life, too
Cause I can't help falling in love with you."
I find myself whispering along with him, the last two lines.
"Cause I can't help falling in love with you."
"But I can't help falling in love with you..."
