Drugstore Perfume (Geetrick Fluff)

Want to make this into a story

The boy is here again.

Everyday I go to this coffee shop, it's worn down. Nothing but old broadway posters and announcements covering the wall. The bitter smell of coffee beans filling the air and the sound of dishes clinking against each other as I gaze across at him.

He looks so lonely, kind stressed, maybe. Everything around him seems to bother him as if he can hear every little thing going on in people's heads. His blue eyes looking from the owner to the lady with her sewing needles, to the window leading outside, to me. Blond hair, leather jacket, skinny face, black fedora. He's cute. But he's young.

He seems to recognize me, I wouldn't doubt it. We both come here a lot and even if he didn't see me much, he would recognize me. I'm the traveling man. Rumor is, I've been to all the continents, all 50 states, seen all 7 wonders of the world crossed all the oceans.

I'm getting there.

But this boy recognizes me. Almost immediately his eyes light up and he blinks and everything fits together in his mind as I inhale my cigarette and blow out not long after.

He stands, gathering his book which he's hardly reading, and comes to my table, "M-May I sit here?"

I look across him, then nod, "Sure thing."

He quickly does so, cheeks a bright red and hands shaky and fidgety and I internally wonder if he has ADHD or something.

"Anything you wanted to talk about?" I ask.

"I-I want to... uh... I've heard that you travel. Leave Chicago to New Jersey and then on to Germany or something. I-I wanted... do you... do you think I could come with?" the boy asks, "I-I'm Patrick by the way."

I blink, raise my eyebrows, and straighten my posture the slightest.

"You want to see the world with me?" I ask.

Patrick's eyes widen, "U-Uh... n-not exactly... I j-just want to get out of here. I-I can't take being cooped up all the time. A-all the s-same sights and s-sounds... I want t-to see m-more."

I squint at him but finally nod, "Okay."

"Okay?" Patrick perks up.

"Okay," I smile, nodding, "I'm Gerard.

"We'll leave tomorrow as soon as the sun rises."
