Calum: I opened my eyes, but I was met with darkness. My head was pounding and I seemed to be laying on some sort of cold metal which sent shivers through my body. It was only then that I realised I was being moved in an upwards direction, the crate I was in travelling at a fast speed showing no sign of slowing down. I tried to call out, but my voice caught in my throat, stopping me from doing so. Though it was hopeless anyway, there was no one around. After what felt like minutes, a thin line of light shone down on me, expanding until an almost blinding light took over my vision. My body slammed down against the floor once the crate had stopped and I almost hit my head in the process. One by one, dark shadows started appearing before me and it wasn't long until I made out unfamiliar faces all of whom belonged to a minority of around 50 boys. The ceiling of the confined space I was in was soon opened as boys from each side reached down to remove the barrier separating us. A rope was chucked down to me, one which had a loop at the end, big enough to tie around my waist. I was hesitant at first but I knew that I didn't have an option. Who knows what was waiting for me up there? I fell to my feet once they pulled me out, relieved to feel the familiar sensation of fresh grass under my fingers, taking a moment to catch my breath before looking up towards the crowd of angst boys. I turned around, remaining sat on the grass as I nervously looked to everyone as they formed a circle around me. I tried to not let anyone see my fear, because as far as I was aware, they weren't on my side; but the bitter reality was that I was scared to death. I coughed a little, not even sure if I had enough understanding in me to talk. "Wh-where am I?" I asked out, and the boys each erupted into laughter. I stood up, scanning the faces as I spun around. One of them, the leader perhaps, stepped closer to me, the circle adjusting to fill his absence. He wondered over to me, walking around me several times as his eyes glanced up and down at me, mine too defensively. He had dark and dirtied ripped jeans on, a faded navy shirt on which clung to his muscles. As I looked at his face I noticed a small lip ring which he took between his teeth. The object made me confused, such questions as to how he has one in such a place we are, or why for that matter? It led me to an even deeper set of questions, the main one being "why are any of us here?". But they didn't answer me with what I wanted to hear. "Don't worry, shank. You'll get used to it."
Ashton: My eyes shot open and I instantly sat upright, breathing heavily and struggling to regain my breath. It seemed that every time I closed my eyes, the visions came on stronger, more haunting, more destructive. It felt as though I was always so close to finding something out, though I would never allow myself to think quite that far, or to even remember that much for some reason. I wanted to know why I was here, who I was, and why anyone would do something so inhumane as to keep us trapped up like animals, wiping any memory of who we are. It was still late, or maybe it was really early. I didn't have a clue as to year it was, let alone the hour. It was quiet, the crackling noises emitting from the fire along with birds in the far distance were the only things to be heard, that is of course when the walls of the maze weren't changing. I drifted over towards the ancient looking tree which rested slightly to the left of the centre of The Glade. I sat down, resting my back up against the bark, tearing apart some blades of grass in between my fingers. I thought I was alone, but I turned around after hearing footsteps, a face I learned to be Michael making his way over to me. He sat down beside me without a word, taking a rock and juggling it in his hands aimlessly. I hit my head back against the tree a few times, the ache that came along with the action somewhat soothing. Michael huffed beside me, a tired smile reaching his lips as he skipped the rock along the ground, his eyes following its movement until it came to a stop. "What's so funny?" I ask him, half expecting some sort of weird insult that everyone else understands, to be thrown at me. "You," Michael tells me as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. "You've been here three days and you already have more desire to leave than half of those guys over there." He tells me as he nods towards the bunkers where everyone is sleeping soundly. I don't say anything else, and neither does he for a moment. I look up. The sky is still the same. That seems to be about the only thing that hasn't changed, the only thing I haven't forgot other than my own name. Six letters, that's all I remember, and the sky. A sudden overwhelming fear strikes me and I yell out, punching the ground I sit on as tears spring my eyes. "Calm down buddy, you'll wake the others." Michael chuckles slightly, almost unsure how to deal with the situation at hand. I feel my lips tremble as I am unable to stop the rush of unanswered questions that flood my mind, all the 'what if's and the 'why's. Michael looks over at my empathetically, and for a moment, I almost forget that he's been in the exact situation I have. Everyone here has. "Why can't I remember who I am, Mikey?" I ask him, my voice breaking midway. His face falls and he looks down for a moment, his eyes travelling back up to meet mine. "What did I do wrong?" I ask him, quickly receiving an answer. "You didn't do anything wrong." He tells me. "But how do you know that? What makes you think that I didn't do something to deserve this?" I question him, the thought that I may have caused such a crippling pain onto a person almost driving me insane. "You didn't do anything wrong." He repeats, not a single trace of doubt in his voice. I look into his eyes questioningly but I still receive the same answer. "None of us could have stop this, Ashton, whatever it is. Not even you."
Luke: I felt like I had been drugged up and every inch of me was screaming that it was true. I tried to open my eyes upon hearing voices, but I was too weak to move. I could hear everything going on around me and I surprised myself as I heard a familiar name leaving my lips. "Luke." It seemed to be the only thing I could mumble out, and I was left unsure of who it was and why, apart from my own, did his name seem to be the only thing I could remember. There was a silence for several moments before I heard someone jump down, their impact shaking the ground I laid on. I felt two hands pick me up, pulling me from the cold metal. I didn't know who was holding me, but I had some hope that it may have been Luke - whoever he was. The voices continued again, some words sounding almost foreign, but before I knew it, I was drifting unconscious again. I had managed to cause quite a commotion, but the confusion that came along with my surroundings only made me even more overwhelmed. My first instinct was to run away, but that very quickly became a problem when I looked around at where I was. I was surrounded by tall, broad, muscular men who all seemed to have some sense in them, some sort of idea as to what was going on, and then there was me; small, weak, vulnerable me. There were no other females around as far as I could see, no one around that I knew. It was only up until the point where I looked down at the crowd of boys did I see a face, one I was sure I knew. How could you forget a face like that? I paused my actions to focus on his features more clearly though some of the guys took this to their advantage as they tried to climb the ladder up to the platform I was standing on. Immediately I picked up the rocks again, chucking them down at anyone who dared to step closer to the ladder. He was still staring at me when I looked back at him and I think he could feel something too, something that screamed 'I know you.' His voice cut off the actions of everyone else, and before I knew it, he was making his way up to me. I held a knife before me as he climbed up to where I was, ready to defend myself if he was to suddenly strike. He held his hands up in defeat, stumbling away from me and I could see that he was just as scared as I was. I dropped the knife and he sighed in relief, sitting down next to me cautiously. "It's ok." He whispered, being the first words he spoke to me. "Who are you?" I asked him quickly, somehow already knowing his name. "I'm Luke. You're...?" He trailed off and I didn't make much sense to me as to why he didn't know me. "I'm Y/N." I murmured out, his eyes intently studying my features. "Who are you? Why am I here?" I asked him, panic taking over me all at once. I looked to him expecting an honest answer, but he dropped his head in defeat, taking sudden interest in his hands to avoid the question for a while. "I don't know." He told me, his voice croaky, but not lying. He looked up at me once again and I noticed how quickly his eyes had filled with tears. "All any of us know are out names, but..." He paused again, a frown etching onto his features as his eyes locked contact with mine. "You." He spoke. "I think I know you."
Michael: I was crazy, insane, and suicidal as Calum kept reminding me though I knew that if it wasn't for me, nor him or Ashton would have lasted the night. I could see the rays of sunlight beginning to break through the clouds and it was then that I realised that we were going to make it. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, hard enough to make my bones shake, but I didn't give up. What I saw, it was haunting and unforgettable. I was too caught up in the moment to understand how real everything was, but now that it was almost over, now that I was almost safe, I began to realise just how dangerous this place was. The walls of the maze were continuous and intimidating, the creatures that lived between them much worse. I had no clue where I was going but I kept my faith in Calum as he walked between the walls as if he knew every route by heart. We turned a corner and hanging up in the vines, hidden from harm's sight, was a knocked out Ashton, his body hanging loosely as if had no sensation. But with every step I took closer towards him, the more I felt like I was being dragged back. It was only when Calum stopped that I did too, knowing exactly what was behind me without even needing to look back; a griever. "Michael," Calum began. "RUN!" My feet carried me forward, turning the paths and running for my life. Calum wasn't far ahead of me, though when he was halfway through a path, the walls began to cave in. He reached the end, expecting me to turn around and be at his side, and I saw the sheer panic on his face, even from a hundred metres away when he realised I wasn't. "Michael, what are you doing!?" He yelled out, his voice desperate yet so angry. I didn't answer him, I knew it would only ruin the chances of my plan working so I stood there, breathing deeply as I looked at the creature waiting for it to strike. 'One' I counted, breathing out the dust in my lungs. 'Two.' I bent my knees the slightest, ready to run. 'Three.' In a split second, I was running towards Calum faster than I ever had in my life. The monster was right on my tail and I knew that if I slowed down for even a second, I was a goner. Metres separated Calum from where I was and the walls began to close so quickly that I almost wasn't sure if I would survive. With one final push I jumped out from between the walls, stumbling to the ground beside Calum as the griever was crushed to it's death. After a minute or so I had managed to catch my breath, earning a mouthful of profanities from Calum. "You almost killed yourself! How stupid can one person get? It's like you don't even think sometimes!" He finally finished, adjusting the weight of Ashton's arm around his shoulder. The walls of the Maze began to open and we only had a few more corners to turn until we reached The Glade, the centre of the maze. And then we saw it, just as everyone had turned their backs and began to walk away, we saw The Glade. "Hey guys!" Calum yelled out, his voice far from everyone else, but just able to be heard. Heads whipped around from all over the muddied courtyard and within seconds everyone was crowding around us, pulling us out of the maze and helping us set Ashton down on the ground. Somehow, we had survived.
