Prompt 2: The Band

"If you wrote a song about your love life, what would the title be? Write the first verse."

Hey everyone, how are you doing today? I'm doing very well! I've been a lot more motivated recently and I cant wait to start writing again! I hope you enjoy this story, remember to leave me any suggestions for prompts or stories that you'd like me to write!

Another note: I know the prompt says write a song about my love life, but I don't have one, so I created this entire situation in the story, also, I sang the song in story myself and uploaded it you youtube, It should be at the top of here ^^^ (that up top) so you can listen to it. I did all of this really late, so I hope you don't mind it, my voice was really unprepared for singing

Edit: oof my voice is not fun to listen too :/

THIS CHAPTER HAS SONG LYRICS AND LGBTQ+ WITHIN IT, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, MOVE ON PLEASE

Love you Birdies!!

Three people enter the crowded bar, most of consumers were there for a pint of cold beer to distract them from the tiring week, but, Sarah, Charles, and Olivia, were there to see the up-and-coming band 'Heart of my Cards.' Unsurprisingly, their first album was Playing Card themed, but they loved it anyways. The three fans were very surprised at how beautiful the music this small band created - it only had two members, brother and sister from what they knew. The brother had recently gone through a very rough break-up from his girlfriend of 5 years. It was really hard on him, and Jackson almost didn't make it through. Luckily, Rhiannon was there to help pull him back from the dark. The siblings hadn't been on any social media, they completely fell off the face of the earth, until the abrupt album release and announcement that they would be performing at this very bar. Charles had the biggest crush of Jackson, but Olivia did too. Sarah was already in a relationship, but she thought that Rhiannon was pretty cute. The snatched a table as soon as they could, ordering their drinks and waiting for the the band to start. They listened, observed, learned the songs that played, note by note, trying to understand the feeling behind them, trying to feel the meaning in their hearts, minds, and souls. They listened as the duet marked off songs from the album in order: Deal me in, In my Court (I'm King now), The Ballad of a Widow (Queen's lament), Prince in Paradise, Decennium, Nine Flags Half Massed, Simple Octet, Spent my money, Sex in the Dark, Cinco Corazónes (Mi corazón es para ti), Quarter past (Late to Lunch), Trois (Je pense a toi), Double Trouble (the duet), Aces, Joker's Fool.

Joker's Fool stood out to them most though. They could tell Rhiannon didn't write these lyrics, hers were always so cheerful, even her ballads. This song was written by Jackson, and saved for the last. It was slow, and melodic. It filled the room with a kind of sadness that is only truly felt when alone in your room, crying and wishing someone would hug you. Rhiannon's voice was much more beautiful in this sad tone, with the soft tearful instrumental behind her. Her voice rang through the room:

"The velvet stars

Danced in the sky

And twinkled past the universe

I still felt closer to them

Then to you, who was right across the room.

You played sweet, sweet and kind

And I was just a fool

A hand to bluff

To raise the bet

I let you play me,

To your heart's content

But you made me blind

You left me unprepared

Sitting by the stairs

Wishing your hand was in mine

But you, were somewhere in dark

Adding loops to your belt or hearts

You won them all, with a single touch

But you lost me.

You lost us

What we used to be

Is in the dust

'Cause I'm too good for you,

I'm too kind

You don't deserve me

Not this time

I'm not a game to play

I'm not a toy

I loved you with all I had

You gave it up,

So sorry dear, but I've had enough

Goodbye, I'm not some Joker's fool

I've got a heart to protect just like you

So goodbye love

Hope you had fun

Hope its worth it

So goodbye dear

I'll see you soon

In the daytime

With some other buffoon."

The bar erupted into cheers and claps, no one could believe what they just heard. This girl who had been singing rock up until this song changed to a pained melody about a lost love. It matched the feeling of the bar more. Rhiannon turned away from the crowd and towards her brother, Jackson. He had tears rolling down his eyes. He missed them, their smile, their touch, their laugh. But, Jackson wouldn't let himself get hurt again, so he planned to stay away from relationships for a while, at least until he was ready to get back into it. Jackson stepped out from behind his booth, and gave Rhiannon a hug, sobbing slightly into her shoulder. Charles stopped and stared, Olivia kept clapping and cheering for them. Charles sat down, wishing he could go apologize for this unknown lover that hurt Jackson so much. He watched the musician slowly let go of his sister and wipe away his tears. He scanned the crowd, locking eyes with multiple people around the room, most of which were standing, cheering. But, the one person that stood out to Jackson was Sarah, her long brown hair enticed him, at first. But then he looked to Olivia, who, contrastly, had short blonde hair, she swooned, waving at Jackson. He rolled his eyes. Finally he looked down at Charles. He stared at Charles longer than the others, mainly because he was confused, he couldn't really place a gender on this unknown person, who stared up at him, almost in tears, empathetic to his situation. Charles had mainly feminine features, a thin waist, softer facial features, breasts that not even the binder he was wearing could contain. But, on the other hand, Charles held himself differently than the women around him. He puffed his chest, wore more masculine clothing (he wore a button down and some pretty dressy pants to this event) and when Jackson looked into Charles' eyes, he knew that whatever gender this person was, could not be understood in a single moment. So, he and Rhiannon bowed, and Jackson made his way over to the three people. He sat between the short-haired blonde girl (olivia) and the one he was interested in learning more about (Charles). Olivia immediately started introducing herself, setting her hand on Jackson's arm and leaning in, "Hi there, I'm Olivia, it's a pleasure to meet you." she said, in the most sultry voice she could muster. Jackson, in return gave a very apathetic smile and replied, "Nice to meet you Olivia" and turned away, towards Charles.

"Hello I'm Jackson, might I ask your name? I noticed you from on stage, and I'd like to get to know you a bit." Jackson's smile reached his eyes as he introduced himself to Charles, the one person he couldn't seem to understand with a single glance. Olivia huffed and moved closer to Sarah, she wasn't the kind to keep up with a person if she knew they weren't interested. That's one of the qualities the others revered in her.

"I'm Charles, it's very nice to meet you Jackson!" Charles' was extremely excited to be meeting his idol and crush, let alone be having a conversation, a real getting to know each other conversation, with him. But, Charles thought he his emotions well.

"Well, I can't wait to get you know you more Charles, now, my first question for you... You Ready? Okay, what are your preferred pronouns, I don't want to mess that part up." Jackson stated with a smile, he wanted Charles to know that this wasn't an extremely serious conversation, but a more relaxed and casual conversation about life. Charles smiled, "I'm glad you asked!" He stated and they continued to converse until the bar shut down, exchanging numbers and going their separate ways for the night.

Hey Birdies, how did you like the story? I know it was very cheesy and probably a bit predictable, but I just finished this prompt and I really wanted to show you guys that I am trying to keep up some semblance of a schedule while I'm motivated.

Also, I am in the writing club at my school and we had the regional tournament recently. I didn't win any awards, but my friend did (Props to her) anyways, just earlier today my club coach person teacher thingy sent me an email about going to state, so I QUALIFIED FOR STATE BOIOS!!!! I'm super excited, I really wanna go, but its like an 8 hour drive so I'm kinda bummed. :( but it should be worth it!!!

Also, I got a solo in choir! We're doing a Lion King Medley and I got the Scar solo along with a friend of mine!

Also, I'm in Varsity Softball (I'm a freshman woot woot)

Sorry, theres been a lot of news recently that I haven't been able to share with you guys because I've been so busy and so FRiCk FRaKeN unmotivated!!!! But this will be the main thing I'll be posting on for a long time until I can actually get to writing the other stuff and posting and SHooT
