Who

Sunday

Your past or your future?

Which one means more to you?

Your past made you who you are today,

while your future can make you a better you.

Picking up my head, I stare directly into each of them:

Taehyung and Sungjae.

Taehyung stands with his hands in his pockets, while Sungjae stands tall his arms at his sides.

"Who's it going to be, Jennie?" Sungjae lifts a brow, "Me..."

Taehyung's gaze is doleful, almost as if he feels he has no right at all, but he still does,

"...or me?"

I wake up to the sound of the doorbell, Yejoon thankfully safe and sound playing on the floor, unaware that his mother had accidentally taken a nap while watching him.

Taking a minute to process my mini-nightmare, I get off the couch.

Fixing my cardigan, I rush to see who it is, peeking through the blinds.

Jungkook stares back with purposeful wide eyes, "You're not being slick at all."

I roll my eyes and open the door.

"What brings you here, JK?"

Jungkook sticks out his tongue, "I thought you said 'mi casa es tu casa'."

He chuckles for a bit before his smile sort of falls off.

My brows crinkle in concern.

"Yeri and I broke up yesterday."

I gently place my hands on his arm, guiding him to have a seat on the couch, which he ends up sliding off to play with Yejoon, giving him the best smile he could put on.

Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, I kneel down with them. "Jungkook...how? Do you want to talk about it?"

He inhales deeply, closing his eyes.

I give him a moment, ready for when he's willing to open up.

"I freaked out because I assumed she was cheating on me...It's just...I thought once she was done with that internship with that guy...that that'll be it, but they're still together and then they talked about finding a job together and I just... I felt that they were getting closer and she was making all these excuses to be with him while I just waited for....for nothing."

I nod my head.

Jungkook combs his hair back. "I got drunk last night, so I told her how I felt, but it didn't come out right. She was offended that I had even thought that she would cheat on me. Saying that I never fully trusted her and then..."

He sighs, "...then I told her that she cheated on Taehyung with me."

Oh no.

"She completely flipped, saying that she wasn't who she was then and that she couldn't believe I said it. I couldn't apologize because it's how I truly felt, Jen. She cheated on Taehyung with me. I'm scared that she's cheating on me right now."

"Jungkook...why do you feel that way? Why do you really feel that way?"

Jungkook pursed his lips, shrugging.

"Because he's better than me. He's going to be a lawyer and I..."

"...I dropped out of school."

I scoot closer to him, picking up his face in my hands. "JK... why would you do that? You were in your final year..."

"I screwed it up. My grades got so bad, there's no way a master's program will accept me with my low GPA. It makes my entire degree worthless and I can't afford to repeat courses."

I sigh.

He chuckles half-heartedly, "Guess, I can just work forever at the Line Cafe."

"Hush," I remove my hands from his face. "There's nothing wrong with taking some time off and saving up. I think that raising your GPA is most important... and if you told Yeri all this, I'm sure that she'll forgive you."

"We talking about the same Yeri?" Jungkook raises an eyebrow.

Yejoon reaches up for Jungkook, wanting to just touch his face. Jungkook picks him up and asks for a high-five.

"Just trust me. Admit that you were wrong for that, admit that you were just insecure and I'm sure that everything will go back to the way things were."

"That jerk's still in the picture though," he mumbles, "And I'm sure she's already told him everything, so then he'll have the satisfaction of me being jealous of him."

Jungkook groans.

Yejoon copies him, giggling.

"Don't teach my son that!" I tease him.

"But you know... isn't that feeling better than feeling heartbroken? Breakups suck you know... you're just going to drive yourself crazy with the 'What if's and all the memories...and remembering how happy you were in those moments compared to now."

I would know.

Jungkook looks over at me, probably starting to regret coming to me of all people with his current situation.

"...I'm sorry." He whispers.

I laugh, putting my hands over his mouth. "Don't start. Don't even say anything. I'm not turning this into a pity party for me. I'm over it. I'm over it. I'm for sure over it."

"In fact," I proudly sit up. "I went clubbing with a guy last night."

Jungkook raises an eyebrow, "Who, Jin?"

"No! Well yeah, but- mainly with the guy who helped me get the job at...Winter...Bear..."

My voice trails off as I frown up at Jungkook.

Jungkook still has contact with Taehyung.

He had to have known Taehyung worked at Winter Bear.

He knew that I wanted to stay away from Taehyung and he knew that I got the job offer at Winter Bear.

Jungkook squishes Yejoon's cheeks, unaware of my shift in tone.

"Oh yeah, when do you start?"

Slowly looking up, he catches my expression. "O-Oh..."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

He leans back on his palms. "Didn't you tell me you wanted to know nothing about Taehyung?"

"Yeah and that I wanted to stay away from anything that had to do with him!"

Jungkook gulps. "Jennie, I don't need two girls mad at me right now. I might as well just throw myself in a volcano."

"Did you meddle? Did you tell him to hire me?"

"No, I swear. I had nothing to do with it. You got hired because you earned it and as far as I know, Taehyung had nothing to do with the hiring process."

I keep my gaze steady, "...You swear?"

"Don't you think I would be working there right now if he did? You get paid good money and then I wouldn't really even need a deg-"

"Swear on your mother's life, he didn't have anything to do with it."

"I don't swear."

"Swear, right now, Jungkook."

"Shi-"

I cover his mouth. "Well, whatever. I'm not going to work there anyway."

He raises an eyebrow. "Why? It pays amazing and it's close to here, beside isn't that guy working there? So what's the problem?"

I give him a death glare, he responds by holding Yejoon in front of him.

"Ugh, I think he pooped."

"You know what the problem is." I take Yejoon away from him. "I'm sacrificing my happiness."

"Or finding it."

I tilt my head at him as I unwrap Yejoon's diaper.

"Admit it, you're not happy right now. Running away from him...ignoring him... forgetting him...that's never going to work. You said it yourself. You're just going to think of all the "What if"s to the brink of insanity. I'm not saying that you need to get back together with him or anything...I'm saying that you need closure. You need to deal with the root of the problem. It'll hurt, but in the end, it'll be good for you. You might be able to walk away with a healthy heart."

My eyes start to sting.

Jungkook gives me a small smile. "Go to work tomorrow, Jennie. If you do, I'll go to Yeri as well. If you don't, then I'm going to be miserable...and that's on you."

"Jungkook..." I whisper, feeling a bit defeated, going back to finish up changing Yejoon.

When I finish, I turn back to him, "Okay..."

"...I'll do it."

A/N: Wooo, another update! I love Jungkook and Jennie's friendship. I remember someone commenting asking how Jennie and Jungkook got so close. They actually became really close at the end of 5MAD. Jennie afterall was there to repair Jungkook and Taehyung's friendship and Jungkook helped Jennie stay close with Taehyung. During that time, Jungkook was constantly sharing his feelings with her. A special bond had developed between the two. So it felt only natural for them to keep coming together <3 Let me know what other questions I could answer <3
