Touch

Wednesday

I made my mind up.

Despite the warnings my girls gave me, I still decided to go along with Sungjae.

"If you think about it," Rose shrugged her shoulders, "There's no point... with Taehyung and all."

Lisa rolled her eyes, stabbing her salad aggressively.  "Yeah...EXCEPT for satisfaction!"

Lisa then turned to me, raising her eyebrows, "Wouldn't it be something if we did get a reaction out of him?"

"That's still not a good idea." Jisoo reminded us. "Jennie, do you realize that playing with fire never ends well?"

Of course, I know.

But what do I have to lose?

All I can think about is how angry I am that Taehyung gets to live this carefree life while not realizing the damage that he left behind.

I know that he doesn't know who I am right now and I know that he probably won't be jealous, but if the saying "the mind forgets, but the heart still remembers" is true, then it'll satisfy me to get some reaction out of him.

"Ready?" Sungjae asks me at the entrance of the studio, hand out to take my purse.

I inhale deeply before looking at him with determination.

"Ready."

He throws my purse strap over his shoulder before holding the door open for me, offering his arm once we're inside.

I hold my breath, keeping my eyes low as we walk towards our office.

My heart beats fast the entire way, only calming down when Sungjae gives me his trademark smile.

"We're turning heads," He mouths, eyebrows pointing in the direction of a couple of the staff who don't even hide their gazes.

Good.

Word will get around this way.

We especially make sure we pass by the queen of gossiping herself, Ga-in.

"Good morning, Ga-in." Sungjae greets her, stealing a mint from her desk as we pass by.

Ga-in does a double-take before a smile spreads across her face, one that tells me she's dying to go around and inform the whole studio.

Sungjae and I enter into the office, holding in our laughter until he closes the door.

"Won't be long before it gets to them." Sungjae winks.

I breathe easily, taking my seat and accepting my purse back as Sungjae hands it over.

He leans back against his computer chair. "I wonder how Irene will react when she realizes she took me for granted and especially when she finds out that..."

I raise an eyebrow, confused by his sudden drop of words. He clears his throat, poking my forehead. "Thanks, Jennie."

I just smile at him.

Something catches Sungjae's attention and he elbows me to look behind us through the glass.

Taehyung's passing by, eyes glued to the tablet in his hand.

I lower my eyes to the ground as a reflex and when I glance back up, he's already passed.

"Come on." Sungjae suddenly gets up, grabbing my wrist and gently pulling me off my chair.

"What are we going to do, Sungjae?" I whisper as he takes me into the hall.

Sungjae keeps walking, heading into the break room, "Just follow my lead."

As we enter, my eyes fall on Taehyung who's leaning over the sink, the electric kettle on beside him.

"Hot chocolate?" Sungjae asks me as he heads toward the cabinet with the mugs.

I tense up a little, eyes on Taehyung's back.

"Sure."

"I'll add whipped cream, just like how you like it." Sungjae winks as he reaches for the mug, ending up knocking it onto the floor in a loud crash.

Taehyung looks over his shoulder right away, eyes on Sungjae who's picking up pieces of the mug.

"Shoot."

I don't hesitate to rush over, "Sungjae, are you okay?"

He looks up at me, winking before jerking back his hand with a groan. "Ouch, I cut my finger."

"I'll get a band-aid."

Spotting the first aid kid on the wall behind Taehyung, I start to head over to it, noting how Taehyung turns back around to his kettle.

After carefully wrapping the band-aid around Sungjae's finger (which totally doesn't need one), Sungjae smiles at me, taking me by surprise as he wraps his arms around me.

"Thanks, cutie. You know what would really make it feel better though?"

I raise my eyebrow.

Sungjae's eyes drop to my lips, "A kiss."

"Enough." Taehyung's low voice interrupts, startling me.

Sungjae laughs, letting me go, "I'm sorry, does this bother you?"

I carefully study Taehyung's face.

He steps closer, keeping Sungjae's eyes locked onto his, "Sung-"

"What? Are you going to make me do a new batch of edits in an hour?" Sungjae's eyes tighten, "'cause I already did them. I got them from Irene this morning."

"Then," Taehyung looks away, eyes rolling to the side, "We don't have a problem here."

"Why don't you tell me what's really bothering you?" Sungjae provokes, taking a step closer.

Taehyung briefly glances my way before turning towards the counter, quietly placing his tea bag in his cup before picking it up and leaving.

I duck my head, stumbling back to give him room.

Only - as he brushes past - I jerk my head up, looking over my shoulder as my eyes follow him.

His finger tips had just grazed my own.
