Prologue ༄ Lost Hope
"One more." Vukaa begged though a mouthful of grapes.
"I can't keep throwing grapes at your mouth." Kay complained, but threw him another grape anyway.
Vukaa caught it in his mouth and began to chew it. "Yum."
They were having diner together, like every other day at the academy when a noise no one had ever heard before filled the academy.
The emergency alarm.
Time stood still, everyone turned silent, many eyes locked with each other's around the room.
Then time speed up when someone screamed.
Kay feel as if she was watching the room in slow motion as people and humanoids both began to panic.
"Kay..." Vukaa squeaked and looked up at her, he looked more afraid than she had ever seen him.
Master Luke has installed the emergency alarm to warn them of any attacks on the academy.
Chaos began to happen all around the academy, everyone was scared for their lives, for the future and for the first time in a long time Kay felt completely helpless. She tried to yell over the screaming to get people to calm down, but she wasn't loud enough, she wasn't strong enough.
She felt horrible that she did nothing to help. She heard familiar voices yell directions, but chaos still ensued.
She grabbed the hilt of her lightsaber to join the older ones, but felt someone touch her hand.
"I'm coming with you." Vukaa said, looking determined.
"No you can't you have to get out of here. You aren't ready for this, I couldn't live with myself if you died."
"I can't live without you, Kay. Please don't die."
"Go." She yelled at him.
"Promise me you won't die." He gripped onto her hand.
"I promise." Kay looked into his eyes and said. "Now go."
Vukaa nodded and she watched him run out of the cafe where they had spent so many meals together, in the false hope that he could get to one of the few ships stationed on planet.
She ignited her blue lightsaber and ran towards the fighting.
"Ben Solo." She gasped as she saw who was the cause of all this fighting and panic, he was currently fighting two of the older padawans, Jann and Vora, a theelin and a Mirialan, but they were no match for this boy filled with hate and anger, and no longer controlling it.
She watched as he striked them down, two people she would consider her friends. Jann's head rolled right off his body and Vora soon got a quick jab of a lightsaber though her heart.
Kay let out a sob as they both fell, joining the pile of already growing bodies at his feet. The range of ages from 2-18 so far, the younger ones must of perished when there was no one to protect them.
Ben or whatever he was now looked her straight in her eyes as soon as he heard the sound.
I'm putting an end to this now. She thought and charged him.

Vukaa ran though the crowd, deciding since he can't fight, he might as well make himself useful and find Master Luke.
"Master?" He yelled and began to run off down an empty hallway, everyone was now either fighting or running. "Master?"
Vukaa checked his office, but no one was there. "Karabast." He muttered. "We need backup, I need to warn someone." He told himself, figuring that if everyone was either fighting or running no one had called for backup. He grabbed Luke's short range transmitter from his desk, getting heebie-jeebies from Darth Vader's mask that was sitting on one of the shelves.
He starting sprinting towards the long range communication room, hoping whatever was attacking hadn't taken them down too, but his worse fear was soon to be realized.
༄
"Help! There's an attack on the Jedi academy. Help!" The holo-transmitter said, mutely in the background and the listener dropped his paint brush, splattering paint all over himself.
"Kay..." Freedom whispered, and got up in a blur and grabbed a hold of the transmitter and froze.
"Hello, is anyone there?" The familiar voice continued, sounding panicked and afraid.
"Yes." Freedom responded, and held the transited a little more firmly.
"Something is attacking the academy, people are dying." The, now Freedom realized, small voice squeaked though.
He was fighting the urge to ask about his sister. "What do you need me to do?"
"Our long range transmitter is down. Oh force." The voice continued and Freedom cold sense panic in the last statement. "I don't know what to do this was the only frequency I could remember."
Freedom was confused for a second, until he put the pieces together. "Vukaa?"
"Yes that's me." He answered.
"Don't worry I'll use our long transmitter and signal the resistance and New Republic for back up." Freedom responded. "But I'm going to have to hang up."
"Ok." Vukaa responded.
"Go somewhere and hide, but first before you do can you tell me anything else about your attacker." Freedom asked, already pulling up the resistance's frequency.
"I'm not sure, it could be the First Order." Vukaa whispered.
"Thanks Vukaa, you did great now go and hide." Freedom told him. "I'll get back up."
"Thanks." Vukaa said relieved and hung up, soon now dropping the transmitter, going to find somewhere to hide.
Freedom quickly informed the resistance, but the New Republic thought he was bluffing.
"The First Order." The person on the other side huffed. "This better not be another ploy by Vader's spawn." And quickly hung up.
"Stupid kids and their pranks." She muttered under her breath and got back to work.
The resistance was sending back up, but they would be too late.
༄
"Kay Bridger, if I recall right." A cold voice scraped its way out of Ben Solo's throat.
"Why are you doing this?" She yelled over the sound of their blades touching, scraping against one another.
"It's my destiny." He replied back, and began a raid attack of swings.
She began to block each one, with her strength fading after each one and he didn't let up, somehow each stroke was harder and faster than the last.
Kay soon realized that talking wasn't going to get her out of this and began to focus on her attack strategy.
"I see it in your mind." He said after some more offensive strokes, Kay was fighting to stay on the defensive, barely and was so close to slipping to dead on the ground. "Your friend, you're hoping he can make it out of here on one of the ships, but Kay I already destroyed those along with the long range transmitters."
"Shut up and let me kill you." She snapped out of anger.
"So much potential, too bad it's all gone to waste." A voice somehow echoed in her head, making her falter her attack.
She felt extreme pain run up her right arm as Ben's lightsaber made a swift cut on her hand, causing it and her lightsaber to fall to the floor.
"Ahhhhhh!" She screamed out in pain, reflexively grabbing the stub with her left hand.
Ben didn't hesitate in aiming his lightsaber at her heart.
Kay closed her eyes and hoped that her friends and family would be alright, but death didn't come just yet.
She opened her eyes to see Vukaa holding her lightsaber against Ben's, stopping death for a second.
"Vukaa, you need to run." She whispered, though the pain. "Run."
"No." He choked though tears running down his face, that was now covered in blood, because Ben had the chance to slice his saber down the young togruta's face. He was holding his own for now.
"Yes you will." She ordered, now more sternly this time. "I'm ready to die. Tell my family I love them and I love you too, Vukaa."
Before Vukaa could react, with Kay's last bit of strength she flew herself at Ben, her body hitting him, lightsaber and all, making him fall to the ground.
Vukaa looked at his fallen friend and wiped the blood out of his eyes, the only thing on his mind was obeying his friend's final request and began to run.
Ben soon got off the ground and pushed the bleeding girl to the side, put out his hand to pull Vukaa back in, but not before a few more padawans had the turn to fight with him.
Vukaa continued to run as he watched some of his other friends fight that monster and took one last look at Kay, who was slowly bleeding out beside the fight and turned the corner.
"Run." Her voice whispered in his head. "Run."
