An Important Meeting
(A little heads-up: this chapter contains a word's worth of spoilers from Chapter 8! So do find a summary of the story before you go on, unless you don't really mind because it's just one word.
This chapter is also a continuation of the previous one, and a lot shorter, so I hope you'll enjoy!)
Kal'tsit sat in the office, not sure of what to think of the man opposite of her.
Ever since the Doctor had awoken from the Sarcophagus with amnesia, one would only ever see the man with a nonchalant look on his face. Sometimes one would even get to see a glimpse of a smile. That was not the Doctor from the past.
Now, it seems as though Kal'tsit was sitting in front of the man from the years before. It was as if nothing had changed.
His eyes were pointed, his lips turning slightly downwards. He had the look of a man who was ready to sacrifice it all, just to get the results he wanted.
It was just like before, even Kal'tsit got a little nervous.
Had he remembered his past? Did he wake up today to remember everything, and brought her here to berate her for not telling him the truth earlier? Did he bring her here to reprimand her to put all the operators back on the grinding stone?
Surely not. It was too sudden a change.
Yet Kal'tsit had half a mind to summon Mon3tr for backup.
"Kal'tsit," he spoke suddenly. She nearly jumped out of her seat. This situation was starting to get uncomfortable.
"What is it, Doctor. I have a number of things to do today, so do make it quick," she replied, sighing in relief inwardly when her voice didn't quaver.
"I have come to a decision that will ensure that Rhodes Island would prosper. No longer would we be ridiculed by the nations, not with this idea," the Doctor said.
"Really, now?" Kal'tsit spoke, intrigued with this idea he had brought up. "Do tell then, what is it?"
The Doctor sighed, then leaned over on his chair so his face would be closer to Kal'tsit's.
"We need...
...RI-branded kettles."
Kal'tsit stared at the man. His unwavering hard glare. She could tell he was serious about his proposition. This was the most earnest face she had ever seen him wear. Even during some of the toughest battles Rhodes Island had engaged in, this was the moment he chose to show how serious he really is about his job.
Kal'tsit continued to stare on for a while longer, both people's gazes never dropping.
Then, she slapped him.
"Are you out of your mind, you 4am-noodle-making-freak!"
