-----------------

Adrien had hardly slept the night before and he couldn't remember the last time he'd felt this tired. After putting Marinette to bed — coughing and spluttering — he'd been the attentive boyfriend and made her a warm drink and placed a box of tissues next to her on the bedside table. But the constant tossing and turning, and snoring, oh word, the snoring, kept him awake most of the night.

It wasn't until 3am when Plagg had come to him and threatened to leave cheese in his sock drawer if he didn't figure out a way to stop the freight train, that Adrien had found the medicine (with the help of Tikki) in the little white box. That wasn't all though. His face flushed once again as he remembered the smaller box he'd lifted out, quickly hiding it in the bedside table. Who knows if they'd been needing that anytime soon?

He was currently standing and staring out the window of the cabin, a hot tea in hands as he placed his phone back into his jeans pocket. He'd booked the cabin for another couple of nights, wanting to make sure Marinette was fit and well before moving on again. If the journey here was anything to go by, the one home would be awful. Maybe they could take a little detour to the small town they passed through two days ago... wow, two days... Adrien's eyebrows lifted as he considered everything that had happened in the past 48 hours.

He'd driven a van.

They'd been sent on a crazy detour.

Found the town of Hallmark dreams.

Stayed in a cute cabin at a bed and breakfast... alone... with Marinette.

They'd met Granny and Gramps. The same Granny and Gramps who were just stepping out of the main house and onto the veranda. They were laughing and joking, the perfect example of long lasting love. Lifting a hand, Adrien gave them a quick wave wondering if marinette would want to say her goodbyes too.

He turned his head and peered over his shoulder, his girlfriend was still fast asleep on the sofa. She hadn't wanted to be left alone in the bedroom, and it seemed the medicine she'd taken had caused severe drowsiness, so instead he carried her out of the bedroom and lay her on the sofa in front of the roaring fire (which he was now a pro at lighting) and covered her in the thick, fleecy Chat Noir blanket supplied by their new friends. A proud sort of possessiveness overpowering him from seeing her wrapped in his design.

She'd woken in the night, cold, and reached for the closest thing to her which, surprisingly, ended up being his Catwalker cardigan. Now there was a look. A mouthwatering, heart-quaking look. Yes, it was fair to say he was besotted with her.

Turning back to the window his eyes came into contact with Granny's, and he wasn't sure if it was because he'd just been looking at Marinette, but there was something oddly familiar about Granny, almost as if...

A gasp left his mouth as a portal opened behind the older couple and a bunny themed hero stepped out, one that wasn't Alix but more futuristic and...

Oh my God!

Granny winked at him before stepping through the portal with her husband, she was wrapped up in her coat and woollen hat, but that wasn't what caught his attention. It was the boots. Boots which Adrien clearly recognised. The boots.

"No way!" Adrien said, "No stinking way."

"Who are you calling stinky?" Plagg said, flying up and into Adrien's face. His little paws framing his hips as his eyes burned into Adrien's.

"Did you know?" Adrien challenged, trying to keep his voice low and calm so as to not wake Marinette up.

"Know what?" Plagg asked, moving away from Adrien and into the kitchen.

"You did! Didn't you? You have guilty written all over your face! Did you speak to them?"

Plagg spun his way over to where a selection of grapes lay in a bowl, picking one up and attempting to spin it like a basketball on his finger.

"You did!" Adrien hissed, Tikki flying into his peripheral vision with her arms and eyes radiating anger.

"You're going to wake Marinette up." Her voice spat out like venom, Adrien and Plagg both recoiling back in shock for the usually sweet kwamis change in personality.

"You knew too! Is that how you were suddenly so much better? Marinette — Granny — Grannynette gave you something to help you? Is that where the two of you went?"

Plagg huffed and looked at Tikki. "So he can figure that out but gets confused about whether he should or shouldn't ask Marinette out on a date."

Adrien growled in frustration. "Neither of you seem to get this do you? Us interacting with them; spending time with them and wearing their clothes could have changed the course of reality. Because of this, me and Marinette might not make it to become that."

"Become what?"

All faces turned and looked at Marinette, the girl sitting up with such a wild behead she looked like a Fraggle. Her red nose had become a delicate shade of precious pink, her eyes looked brighter and her words were suddenly fully pronounced again. She was almost 100 percent better.

"Marinette, I'm so sorry." Adrien moved stealthily around the sofa and to Marinette's side, sitting on the edge of the sofa next to her waist and holding her hands. "Do you need me to take you back to the bedroom so you can get some peace and quiet? Or I could go out if you want me to? Is there anything you need or want?"

"I actually feel almost back to normal." She brushed her hair from her eyes and looked around the room, finally landing back on Adrien and smiling. "I feel really good to be honest."

He smiled back before moving forwards and taking her in his arms.

"I'm so glad," he whispered in her ear.

"So am I," she giggled. "I'm gutted with how yesterday turned out."

Adrien felt his face drop. "W-w-why? Did I do something wrong? I knew I should have chosen a different wine."

Marinette giggled, shuffling around a little to place a kiss on his cheek.

"No silly. It's just, it's so romantic here and we love each other, so I just thought maybe..." she didn't finish the sentence. Instead left it hanging on a shrug of her shoulders. "It's not often we get time like this completely to ourselves."

"Oh!" Adrien said, his cheeks pinking slightly at the thought of what she was implying,

"Oh my goodness, Kitty, I'm sorry, my imagination just ran away from me. Ignore that I said anything, please?" she begged. "It must be the medicine."

Adrien leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"How about I don't want to ignore it? What if I feel the same? We're not children anymore Princess, I have a driving licence, I'm quite sure that makes me like middle aged or something."

Marinette began to laugh, climbing into Adrien's lap.

"I'm quite sure you only have your licence because of your pretty, squishy face." She puffed out her own lips as she used her thumb and forefinger to cup his jaw and twist his head around.

He slapped her hand away, moving his own lips to meet hers. Oh yes, he could get used to this. Kissing her whenever he felt like it, was there actually anything better?

"Stop!" She muffled against him, her lips stretching out into an obvious smile. "I need to brush my teeth."

"Don't worry about it," Adrien said in retort, "I love you for better and for worse."

"Are we getting married now?"

"If you'll have me."

Marinette stood up, pushing off his shoulders. "You're ridiculous," she laughed, moving out of the room and towards the bedroom. "Let me brush my teeth and I'll be right back."

She blew him a kiss, Adrien catching it midair and placing it against his heart. Her little laugh followed her all the way to the bathroom and he swore she'd left him floating on thin air.

Less than 10 minutes later she was back. Obviously she'd showered and changed, looking gorgeous in a sweater dress and tights.

"So, what was going on in the kitchen?"

She sat beside Adrien on the sofa, his arm automatically going around her shoulders and pulling her close. She lay her head against his shoulder, the smell of his shampoo radiating off her hair and assaulting his senses. She consumed his whole being.

"I saw Granny and Grampa leave."

"Awww," Marinette replied. "I would have liked to have seen them one last time. Did you manage to wave to them?"

"Oh yes, I waved as they went into the burrow."

Marinette started to laugh. "Who are they? Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Bunny?"

Adrien joined in laughing too, it was fake and phoney and spurred on Marinette's reaction. Her laugh slowed down, almost coming to a stop when it was replaced with a gasp and a quick move backwards out of Adrien's hold. One hand covered her mouth and the other flapped up and down in front of her.

"Are they...? Were they...? This is impossible."

"It's actually not, when you think about it," Adrien said, "it's - um - completely possible and logical, considering..." He waved his hand complete with Miraculous in the air beside them.

"I can't believe it." Marinette moved both her hands to cup her head, Tikki flying over and hovering in front of them.

"Well, let's be honest," the small kwami said, "someone had to step in and sort you two out."

Plagg came to join the crew, cackling at Tikki's remark. "It's true what Sugarcube said. The only two who could sort you out were yourselves. There's something unbelievably funny about that."

"Get out!" Adrien demanded the kwamis, both of them laughing as they left the room.

"That's crazy," Marinette said, moving back in towards Adrien and tucking her feet underneath herself.

"It is. You know what else is crazy?" Adrien replied.

"What?" Marinette smiled back, turning her attention down to his right hand and playing with his Miraculous ring. He moved his lips into her hair as he spoke.

"My love for you." He pressed a kiss against her temple before standing up and stretching out both his hands to her. She stood, using his hands to help her onto her feet. "Now, I've booked us a couple of extra nights here and I feel like we should use it to the max."

"Oh yeah and what do you suggest, Mr Agreste?"

"I suggest you go and find your boots, Ms. Dupain-Cheng, because I need to thank them."

Laughter filled the room as the two lovebirds made their way into the bedroom and to find the boots which brought them together.
