Oh my Merlin. The amount of hate I've come across on Wattpad recently. And I don't mean hate accounts. I mean other accounts which make racist, homophobic and sexist comments and try shut down anyone who speaks against them and tells them they are wrong. And as soon as they block the discriminatory person because they're tired of dealing with them, they are nothing but a coward.

Let me make this very clear: this is not directed at any specific account. I've come across a lot of it and I'm sick of it.

Yes, you are allowed to share your opinion, but that doesn't give you the right to discriminate against a certain group of people.

Yes, you can have civilised discussions - that means listening and trying to understand the other person - not just shutting them down and telling them they know nothing about their own people (be it race, gender, sexuality, country or other).

Realise that there's nothing wrong with someone muting you because they don't want to deal with your hurtful remarks anymore. It's doesn't make them a coward. It's not a valid reason to "expose" them in your book. They stood up for what they believe in and when they realised you wouldn't change what you're saying despite them voicing their opinions and concerns, they blocked you. Simple as that. They decided to be the bigger person as they are tired of the circular argument and decided to concentrate on more important things.

Wattpad used to be a safe space where I could be myself but all the petty hate and discriminatory comments I've seen lately has taken that away from me and so many others.

Let others be themselves. Don't hate. Share your opinion if you must, but be willing to respect those of those affected by what you said.
