24- Amy
Amy
School is school no matter if you take the bus or if mom drops you off in her pink VW Bug. Dad said I could have the car if and when I ever get my license. I've tried four times. FOUR TIMES!!! What's wrong with me? I'm good at everything else I do. I'm not bragging here. I get all A's, I'm head cheerleader, homecoming queen... I sound like a cliche but I'm not. Whatever I go for I usually get. Well almost anything. I can't make boys fall in love with me... but they usually do.
Steffy, my right hand and BFF says I should go into politics. Yeah right! The president ages like 10 years after he swears in. No thank you! She's gonna take me to get my driver's license on Saturday. 5th time's a charm!
Oh the weirdest thing ever... I'm in Health Class and Mr Griffith said there's like this pandemic coming or something. I really don't pay attention but I think he said schools might close. NOOOOO WAYYYYY!!! I cannot be tethered to Aunt Catherine's and Uncle Jerry's 24/7. Crossing my fingers and toes that I pass the road test on Saturday. If we do have a pandemic or whatever at least I can escape.
"Amy?"
I looked up from my pink composition notebook. "Yes Mr. Griffith?"
"You are scribbling away. You're the only person in my class taking notes. No wonder you get straight A's."
As Mr. Griffith approached my desk I closed my notebook. "You're welcome sir. Everything you say is just so riveting."
The class laughed.
"Really Miss March? What did I just say?" Mr. Griffith stood there with a smug look on his face.
"Don't you know?" I asked. "You're the one who just said it."
Offended Mr. Griffith barked, "Detention."
"You said something about their being a plague and we're all doomed. Since it's the end of the world I won't be staying for detention." I stood up and exited the classroom just as the bell rang for dismissal.
