Winter Warmer Granola

Winter calls for the common spices used in cooking and baking. In this case, winter spices add an new flavour profile to Granola. As a porridge oat based recipe, this a baked breakfast, and a labour of love, Granola takes longer to make as an oven is required.

This recipe is taken from a website called: www.thesimplegreen.com

Ingredients:

3 Cups rolled oats

1 cup Sliced Almonds

1 cup shredded coconut unsweetened *optional

1/4 cup coconut sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/8 tsp ground cloves

1 dash pink salt

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Method:

in a large bowl, combine rolled oats, coconut, sliced almonds, coconut sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Add in maple syrup and vegetable oil and mix until well combined.

Spread evenly on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 250'F for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove from oven, turn with a spatula and place back in the oven for another 35 minutes.

Cool completely and then break up your granola into large and smaller chunks and store in an airtight container.

How yummy and delicious does this look? This is best served with no full fat milk, serve it with warmed cinnamon spiced almond or soy milk, for a much healthier option.

Cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon spices add a deeper flavour profile to Granola in the winter months.
