Nutmeg and Cinnamon French Toast

Now this screams Christmas Eve morning breakfast flavour. A combination of Cinnamon and Nutmeg will have you so warm, that you could just fall asleep after eating it. It will warm you up on the inside, also set you up for the day. Here's how to make Cinnamon and Nutmeg French Toast.

Ingredients:

jumbo or 3 large eggs, well beaten

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tsp. cinnamon-sugar mixture

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

tiny pinch of salt

1 tsp. vanilla extract

5-6 slices thick-cut Texas-style (or any other type of) bread

thin pats of butter

powdered sugar

maple syrup

whipped cream, optional

Instructions

In deep square dish or bowl appropriate for size of bread, whisk eggs well.

Whisk in heavy cream until well blended.

Whisk in cinnamon-sugar, salt and vanilla.

Heat a large square non-stick flat griddle pan over medium heat until thoroughly heated. Turn down to medium-low. Coat 4 slices of bread on both sides letting custard soak in well, one at a time, and place onto heated pan. Let "bake" on pan until thoroughly speckled brown and deep golden in color. Turn and cook other side. *I cook this slowly to thoroughly cook the custard all the way through. You will know when it's done when the center stays firm and no longer sinks in the middle when turned. Anywhere from 15-20 minutes total. Repeat with rest of slices.

Cut slices corner-to-corner, place onto plate overlapping, top with pats of butter, drizzle nicely with warmed maple syrup, and dust with powdered sugar. Top center with a little whipped cream if desired. Serve immediately.

Another family favourites. Perfect for everyone. Here's the finished product.

Yum, yum and double yum. Your morning taste of heaven. So wonderful and truly delicious.
