KornDen part 3/4

Sunlight filters through the windows of Den's house and Korn slowly begins to open his eyes, still sleepy. He looks at the clock and it's almost seven in the morning, he turns to the other side of the bed and realizes that Den has already gotten up. At that point he decides to get up too, goes to the bathroom and washes his face to try to wake up. Last night he slept surprisingly well, it had been days since he had been able to sleep that long. Maybe that was also why he felt quite dizzy.

Once out of the bathroom he goes to the kitchen and sees Den busy preparing something for breakfast, on the kitchen peninsula he has a computer that he watches while he is busy cooking.

"Oh you're awake, good morning." Den greets him with a smile.

"Good morning." Korn replies yawning.

"Did you sleep well?" Den asks him.

"I slept very well, thanks for asking." Korn smiles at him.

"Rather, what are you doing?" Korn asks.

"I'm preparing breakfast and in the meantime I'm reviewing some things on the files in which there are the data of the visits made to my patients who see the future." Den replies.

"What did you make?" Korn approaches, smelling something nice.

Before Den could answer, he peeks over to the kitchen and notices that he had made Jok, commonly known as a type of rice porridge.

"So? Do you like it for breakfast?" Den asks, hugging him from behind, a gesture that was quite unexpected for Korn.

"It looks good." Korn only says. At that point he goes to sit down at Den's invitation, who gets two bowls for both of them to pour the porridge into, accompanied by a soy milk.

Korn tastes the porridge and compliments him on how good it was. This makes Den smile, who thanks him.

While they are having breakfast, no one dares to open their mouths, perhaps out of embarrassment or perhaps because, they simply don't know what to say to each other.

"Korn." Den calls back.

"Den." Korn calls back at the same time.

"You go first." Den urges.

"Well, here-" Korn scratches the back of his head, a little embarrassed.

"Are you okay with what happened last night?" he asks openly although a little embarrassed.

"If I didn't want to I would have stopped and stopped you, why am I making you have these doubts?" Den asks taking one of his hands.

Korn takes a deep breath and puts one of his hands on top of Den's and looks him in the eyes. He doesn't want to keep him in the dark about the situation he's in.

Den is now involved in his life and Great's, he had the right to know the truth, plus he wanted to continue to get to know him better, he didn't want to let someone like Den, who had undoubtedly shown he cared about him, escape.

"There's something I need to talk to you about." Korn confesses.

"What is it?" Den asks with a slightly worried look.

"My family has an illegal casino, let's say that not exactly good things happen inside it, but my father decided to entrust this activity to me." he begins to speak.

"Tyme's parents were involved and he was convinced until now that my family had something to do with his family's death, however I managed to find evidence that proves the opposite. And with Great's vision we know who is the person who killed both Tyme's family and who will kill him. Or rather, Great knows his face but he doesn't know where this person might be." he adds under the attentive gaze of Den who lets him speak.

"I really want to put an end to this and I don't want Great to be involved since he's in a relationship with Tyme now, but I can't do anything because I don't have enough power." Korn continues.

"I'm sorry you have to be a part of this, it's a bad situation but you can trust Tyme, I'm sure he won't let anything happen to Great, he cares about him a lot." Den encourages him.

"He made me this promise, but the world is unpredictable." Korn replies as if he's resigned.

"If you need anything you know you can always count on me." the doctor reminds him.

"There's something else you need to know." Korn's eyes get a little watery but he sniffs to keep from getting too carried away by his emotions.

"I'm listening." Den rubs his hand to calm him down as he can see he's a little worried.

"My father has been forcing me to have a relationship with a woman for years now, for financial reasons." Korn looks him in the eyes.

"What? A relationship? And what kind of relationship?" Den asks incredulously.

"A real relationship, like Tyme and Great's. Only unlike them, there's no feeling here, or at least not on both sides." Korn continues.

It wasn't usual for him to open up so much to anyone, but now that he had found someone he could trust and talk to, he thought it was good to let it go a little.

"And this person doesn't make you happy?" Den was starting to almost feel sorry for Korn.

"What? Of course not, I don't have any feelings for her. But I can't leave her because she knows too much."

he confesses.

"What kind of things?" Den asks.

"She knows about the mess and she knows about my last relationship that lasted since college." Korn adds sniffing.

"How long have you been broken up?" asks the doctor.

"Almost a month now." he replies.

"And in such a short time you managed to forget this person and do what you did with me last night?" Den wants to try to understand what Korn's feelings are at that moment.

"I can't forget someone who's been in my life for so long and who I've loved for so long, I'll file them away but they'll always have a big place in my life. However, I recently found out she has a new boyfriend, so I wonder if she ever cared about me." Korn shrugs trying to lighten the situation.

"And after finding out that you thought you could use me to get back at me?" Den asks a little disappointed by the whole situation.

"What? Of course not, I didn't use you." Korn quickly clarifies.

"Really? I think you just had a physical desire for me." Den gets up from his chair.

"That's not the case. I mean, maybe it was at first, when we first met, but after we started chatting more and more I realized that I want to get to know you and see you and see how our relationship evolves." Korn also gets up and walks over to him.

"There's a but, right?" Den asks.

"I don't want you to suffer because of me Den, it's just, I don't think I'm capable of giving you what you want. I'm not a present person in the lives of those around me, sometimes I disappear for days because of everything I'm carrying on my shoulders, I can't even be present for Great, how can I be there for you? How can I be with you if I'm in a relationship with a woman? I can't do that, it wouldn't be right for you." he speaks to him honestly.

"I thought you wanted to get to know me better and see me more often." Den points out.

"And I want that, I really want that, but I don't want you to go through this, I don't want you to be in the middle of all my shit. How do you think you can be with someone who's in a relationship with someone else?" Korn asks.

"What am I supposed to do? Put my feelings aside when there's a chance you might feel the same way about me?" Den raises his voice a little.

Korn looks at him a little incredulous, his eyes a little dull and asks him: "what are your feelings, Den?" he wanted to hear it openly.

"Damn, do you really have the nerve to ask me that, Korn? I like you. I've liked you since the first time I saw you in the hospital, and I know, I know that love at first sight is bullshit, but I believe that bullshit. And I believe it because the moment I saw you I was already i-" before Den could finish his sentence, Korn puts his index finger on his lips to silence him. When that happens he walks over to him, looks him in the eyes for a few seconds and then hugs him.

"I'm sorry, Den. I'm sorry that on that day, of all days, you saw me." Korn sniffs, his eyes a little watery and his gaze impassive, before regaining his composure.

"I can't control my heart, if it chose you it's because it saw something special in you." Den replies, breaking away from the hug and looking into Korn's eyes.

Korn smiles a little, then Den says to him: "let's continue to see each other and get to know each other better, but if it gets too much let's talk about it openly with each other, okay?"

"Are you sure you're okay after everything I've told you? I don't want you to feel bad because of this situation." Korn points out.

"It's okay Korn, if I feel bad or anything I'll tell you openly, and you will too, but at least let's try." the doctor replies.

At that point Korn nods and smiles at him, and then goes into the room and gets dressed to go out, before going to the casino he intends to stop by Great's apartment to see how he is.

"If you find out anything about Great's case write to me, or write to him. I think you're the only one who can help us understand what's going on." Korn asks him kindly.

"Don't worry, today I'll try in every way to find out what's behind all this." Den replies.

"Good, then I'm going." Korn greets him.

Before he could get to the door, Den grabs him by the wrist and turns him around to press a kiss on his cheek.

At that point they really say goodbye and Korn heads towards Great's apartment.

It takes a good half hour, he'll relax with some music, or at least, he'll try...

Arriving at Great's apartment, he rings the doorbell as usual.

With his, he would like to say great but in reality it is not so, little surprise Tyme opens the door, who on the contrary, did not expect to see him there.

"Good morning Tyme." Korn greets him.

"Good morning to you, Korn. Why are you here?" asks the doctor.

"I could ask you the same question. Should I remind you that Great is my brother and I can come here whenever I want?" he raises an eyebrow.

Tyme shakes his head as if to say "I can't do it with this one" and they head to Great who had finished preparing breakfast of eggs and sausages, accompanied with some rice.

"Korn! I didn't think you were coming at this hour, do you want breakfast?" asks his brother.

"No, I already had it with Den." perhaps he should have left out the last part since Tyme and Great are watching him carefully.

"What is it?" Korn tries to play dumb.

"Did you meet Den for breakfast this morning?" Great asks with a sly smile.

"Or did you sleep over last night?" Tyme teases.

"What do you think, Tyme?" Korn asks sarcastically to tease him back.

"I think if it's like I say, Den will just talk to me about it all day until I lose my mind," Tyme replies.

"Then get ready for when he does it," Korn continues.

"You actually stayed over at his house? Did I tell you something was going to happen between you two?" Great starts to brag.

"Are you happy now?" Korn replies, it almost seems like his brother was happier than him.

"If you are, I'm happy too. But did you tell him about the whole situation with Fasai?" he then asks.

"I told him about Fasai and also about the mess." he states.

"And how did he take it?" Great asks, Tyme listening in.

"Not too bad, he wants us to continue to get to know each other and see how it goes. If there's something wrong we have to tell each other, we said that too. But he still wants to try to be with me. His feelings are very clear, mine have yet to fully come out but we talked about that too and he seems fine with it." Korn confesses.

"I'm glad that's the case, Dr. Den is very nice and a good person. By the way, did you tell him about what happened to me?" Great then recalls.

"Of course. I told him the whole situation and with the information he got from the other patients he thinks he's almost come to a conclusion. He thinks you're stuck between two different timelines. Don't ask me how that's possible because he doesn't know either but today he would have tried to find out the truth."

"This is all so absurd." Great starts to get up and go to fill his glass of soy milk and as he does so he leans on Tyme's shoulder.

He starts to feel dizzy and his vision is almost blurry, this makes him squint his eyes because of the pain in his head. He has a vision again, this time very brief, so much so that the pain slowly begins to fade. So he manages to open his eyes and return to reality.

He notices that Tyme and Korn are holding him up on both arms.

"Great, what's wrong? Did you have another vision?" Korn asks a little worried.

"Yes, this time it was shorter." Great touches his head.

"What did you see?" Tyme asks.

"The day and time you will die." Great says this with a downcast and frightened look.

"When?" the doctor asks.

"On October 4th at 4:00 AM, the person who killed your parents will try to kill you in your own home." Great points out.

"What about my grandmother? When you had the last vision, you saw her too." the doctor asks again.

Great doesn't want to talk because just thinking about that vision hurts, but he has to so that he and Tyme can change things.

"That man managed to kill you and then he thought of doing the same to your grandmother." the boy confesses.

"So we have to prevent Tyme from being killed, that way he can protect his grandmother and shoot that man." Korn reflects.

"Today is September 30th, we have 4 days to make a plan to prevent this from happening." Great continues.

"I'll take care of it, you have to stay out of it Great." the doctor replies.

"Your life is at risk how can I just sit there and do nothing?" Great insists.

"Okay, let's do this. Great and I will be home with you that night so that together we can surround him and take him out when he tries to get to you. But we have to do this very carefully and without being discovered. No one must know about this, okay?" Korn exposes himself.

"By 'take him out' do you really mean?" Great asks.

"It's the only way. If we don't take him out he'll come back again and try to kill Tyme and his grandmother." Korn says firmly.

Great then nods, Tyme does the same.

4 days to change the course of things, 4 days to prepare for the final verdict. Who will survive?
