Chapter 3
"Y/n... Y/n? Y/n!" My name called over and over again luring me from my slumber. My eyes slowly opened as a mumbled groan escaped my lips. "Y/n." Brain called for me once again.
"Yeah?" I finally answered.
"We need more beer, pick that up in between work." It sounded as if he was commanding me rather then just asking.
"Um, babe?"
"What?" He mumbled heading to the living room.
"Do you mind picking it up?"
"Uh, yeah I do." He looked back at me. "My friends are coming over, I cant leave them here. That'd be rude."
"Can you just get beer tomorrow?"
"No I can't, what kind of person invites people to their house without drinks." As he left the room I sat up in our bed.
"Apparently you do." I thought out loud. My eyelids felt heavy, I needed more sleep. Now I wasn't going to nap today.
I could make it without more sleep. I threw my blankets off me.
I think I can.
________
I stood behind stage getting ready for them to call my name. After one more dance I was to leave for beer, then 7 11. Today already felt long I was not excited for what was to come.
"Anastasia"The announcer called on me.
I gave a fake smile and placed my leg outside of the curtain while staying on the inside. Hearing a few hoots and a guy whistle I stepped into the spotlight.
I have to say when I was a kid I did not expect this kind of spotlight.
Walking over to the pole I started my routine.
Flip my hair. Lift my leg against the pole. Jump up and expose my crotch. The whole thing was so tedious, I did the same thing every time I walked out. No matter, the men watching still liked it. Even the regulars continued to hoot. They still gave me tips and I still had to work there. It's silly seeing that somethings can be so tedious and still 'interesting'.
______
I closed the refrigerator door after placing the beer in it. It's not like I'm going to get any of this, even though I paid for it. Quickly I left the apartment hurrying to my second job.
The doors open as I walk in a gust of cold air hits my face I looked around to see no was there.
Looked like no one was here, was I so late that Kate left? As I sat behind the counter I felt my eyes becoming heavier I quickly rubbed them as if it would get rid of the exhaustion that came with my life. Two jobs and an household is hard to maintain, I'm just lucky I don't have kids. If I did they'd probably be as lazy at Brian.
I leaned on my right arm my head on my hand I began to slowly drift off. I was the only person here for this shift and there was no customers it's not like I had to stay fully aware. I slowly closed my eyes drifting off into a sweet and risky slumber.
Mark's P.O.V.
I reached for the door of the 7 11. That girl said she'd be back here today, it was around the same time as yesterday. Opening the door I looked toward the register. Nothing.
Where was she?
Could she of been lying to get me to leave. Wouldn't be the first time, I chuckled to myself.
I walked in anyway, might as well get something while I'm here. That's when I saw her.
Sleeping on the job, tisk tisk tisk.
Taking a step up to the counter I just looked at her. Her head laid on top of her arms. She sighed in her sleep before turning her head to the other side. I couldn't help but smile as I watched her. She was funnier then I thought she was.
I suppose I had to wake her.
I poked her arm.
"Hey?" I softened my voice to keep from surprising her awake. "Hey?" I spoke a bit louder now shaking her arms lightly. "You need to wake up."
"I," her tired voice was faint. "I need to sleep." She didn't lift her head. I don't think she even knew where she was.
"Not at work." It was as if 'work' was her trigger word, because the moment I said that her head jolted up.
"Fuck." She mumbled rubbing her eyes. She looked up at me. "When did you get in here?"
"Just a few seconds ago."
"Damn it." She spoke again. "Thanks, for waking me."
"No problem, but maybe you shouldn't fall asleep in the first place."
"Yeah." She shook her head. "I know, I know." She sighed just as she did in her sleep.
"So, why are you dosing off on the job? Is it really that bad?" I smiled.
"No, I'm just, really that tired." She laughed. Her laugh sounded sweet. "Did you want to buy anything?"
"Not really."
"Then what are you doing here?"
"You said you'd be here." I smirked.
"Look at that, I am." She stated sarcastically. "But you have to go if you aren't buying anything, just so you don't get in the way of actual customers."
I turned to look around the empty store.
"Sorry, I dont want to get in the way of rush hour." She half laughed.
I got her to half laugh.
"What do I have to do to stay?" I asked.
"Buy something I guess."
"Okay." I turned around taking a step over to the condoms and grabbed the same kind I got yesterday. "I'll buy these." I dropped them on the counter.
"A pack a day." She mumbled scanning it.
"Keeps the doctor away." I added. She smirked at me.
"You might want to buy some water as well, don't want to get dehydrated."
"Good point." I smiled running over to grab a water bottle. "This too." I placed the bottle down.
I could not stop staring at her smile.
