"I'm so sorry for making you carry me," Victor murmured, "I really didn't expect my anemia to hit me this hard today. I hated to end the mission this early, but I really don't feel that well."

"It's fine!" Pilate squeaked as Victor rested his head against his shoulder. He had Victor's arm slung around his shoulder, supporting his friend as they trudged through the field. He was aware of Seraph's steely glare burning a hole in his neck. "Your health is my main objective. I mean, uh, our main objective. As a team. All of us."

"I really appreciate it," Victor breathed, his eyes fluttering shut. Pilate staggered as Victor suddenly became dead weight, his body lurching dangerously forward.

"I think he passed out again!" Pilate cried, turning to face Seraph.

Seraph shoved past him, taking Victor gently by the arm and leading him to the ground. "He just needs to rest right now. Step away."

"Right!" Pilate whimpered, cautiously backing away as Seraph unzipped Victor's jacket, fanning his face. 

"Look, Pontius, I am sure you already know this, but I do not like you. I never have, and I never will. I cannot fathom why Victor can stand your presence, but I respect his wishes."

"Oh, uh..." Pilate scratched the back of his neck, unsure what to say. Suddenly the vacant field they were in felt like the future scene of a crime. Seraph refused to call him by anything but his first name, and it felt eery.

"But I am fully aware of this little crush you have on my brother. And I refuse to let you seduce my brother into whatever wretched spot in Hell you came from. I see right through you, Pontius Pilate," Seraph hissed, his pink eyes burning with a fire Pilate didn't know he could generate.

Pilate gaped. "I'm not trying to seduce him or anything, I swear! I just think he's really cute and nice, that's all... I don't even think he likes me back."
Seraph smiled, a vicious expression that sent a chill up Pilate's spine. "If you hurt my brother, I will tear you to pieces, just keep that in mind. Victor may find you to be good company, but I will not hesitate."
