FAE

-comes in three varieties: jungle, mountain, plains

  -jungle: darker skin, can handle high temperatures, as their body temps are about 89-90 degrees. but they are very sensitive to cold temps and will succumb to hypothermia way faster than a human

  -mountain: lighter skin, thicker hair. can handle cold conditions, as their body temps run about 100 degrees. but they can overheat very easily in hot temps.

  -plains: pretty much a happy medium between the two extremes. more moderate body temp, and more sturdy. skin colors vary.

-fae are capable of shapeshifting into a smaller animal form, which depends on their family/clan.

-the fae society is about 10-20 years behind humans. aka, VCR tapes are the Cool Thing right now.

-very traditional and family centered. fae live in clans/family groups. the elders of each clan all attend a council, which serves as the government.

-they mostly consume raw meat, and in their homeland, they usually dont eat anything other than meat. they dont gain nutrients from anything other than meat, and cannot be vegetarian or vegan.

-they appear almost feral, with sharp teeth, cat eyes, and elongated nails. in extreme stress, their minds slip into a more animalistic state.

DEMONS

-very much a blanket term. theres like a ton of subspecies of demon, like demon horses, demon cats, demon foxes, etc.

-theyre shapeshifters. equally human and animal.

-demon society has little to no technology. they truly live as animals.

-demons are able to eat anything with no consequences. they eat mostly raw meat, but have been known to be scavengers

-most defining characteristic: they smell like rotting meat

-often considered the most vicious or feral of the species

-gender roles vary, but for demon horses, woman are the typical leaders. demons are rather masculine in appearance, mostly.

SPIRITS

-similar to demons, spirits are divided into several subspecies, this time by elemental powers.

-they are ruled by a 'Mother,' which is a minor goddess. all spirits of the same type are considered siblings

-they are amorphous shapeshifters. their true form is composed of true magic

-spirits have certain forms they are comfortable with, and forms that cause them distress. some dont like to turn into predatory animals, etc.

-they all take the form of females. there are very, very, VERY rare cases where a spirit feels uncomfortable in a female body

-usually dont live on earth or anywhere besides the spirit realm
