3rd of January

Today on the Middle-earth Calendar: Happy Birthday J.R.R. Tolkien!

Video of the Day: The Lord of the Rings Mythology Explained (in four minutes).

Quote of the Day: "Not all who wander are lost." - Bilbo

Word of the Day: Endor (Quenya), meaning 'Middle-earth'.

Question of the Day: What is the Elvish phrase for 'my friend'?

Answer to Yesterday's Question: This one was tricksy, precious! In the Extended Edition of the movies, Galadriel gave Sam Elvish rope, but in the books she gave him some earth from her orchard and the seed of a mallorn tree in a grey box with a 'G' rune on it. While two of you gave full answers, I'll still give points to some of you since you DID get the question right. :)

Today's Topic: The End of the Fandom?

First off, I'm going to start this chapter off by wishing Professor Tolkien a very happy birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIR! *throws streamers in the air*

Alright, let's get into it! Sooo, a lot of people are wondering if, now that the movie trilogies are complete, the Middle-earth fandom will die. The answer?

NO.

NEVER.

NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.

UH-UH.

NUP.

Û.

NOPE.

NOOOOOOPE.

How on Arda can the fandom die? A fandom that's into its 78th year? You'll have to tie us up in a sack to stop us!

On second thought, not even a sack will stop us. We're not going to stop being Tolkien fans! That's crazy talk! :D

In fact, the Tolkien fandom will only grow stronger! Why? Because we are one of the most loyal fandoms in the world! I mean, think about it. Not many fandoms have been going on for nearly 78 years, and not many books have the detail that Tolkien put into Lord of the Rings. This book is amazing, and even some of my friends who want to hate it actually really struggle to hate it.

So why not do things that make you feel like you're in Middle-earth, like...
1. Read or re-read the books.
2. Make lembas bread or other Middle-earth meals.
3. Cosplay your favourite characters.
4. Watch the movies over and over and over again.
5. Argue with your Gollum side.
6. Confuse your non-Ringer friends by using quotes from Lord of the Rings.
7. Write fanfics.
8. Do random things like run around your neighbourhood yelling the One Ring poem. In Black Speech.
9. Watch Battle of the Five Armies again!
10. Cry for Thorin, Fíli, Kíli and Thranduil's elk again!

The possibilities are endless!

I know this is a short chapter, but I just wanted to tell you to stop worrying about Peter Jackson making The Silmarillion and start having some Middle-earth fun! :D

If you have any suggestions or ideas, I'd LOVE to hear them!
