Please read the following guidelines to ensure your story meets the eligibility standards. Only those who adhere to our guidelines and correctly submit their stories will be accepted.

Please keep the Wattpad Code of Conduct in mind during participation. All stories must adhere to Wattpad Content Guidelines. Any stories entered that appear to breach Wattypad's Content Guidelines will not be accepted and reported.

The challenge will run monthly. The writing window will start on the first day of every month and end on the last day. This means you will have 30 or 31 days to write (except for February, where you will have 28 days).

We will only count the words in the chapters posted within the current writing window. For example, if you participate in the January 30DC, then only chapters posted on or after 1st January and on or before 31st January will be considered. Any chapters posted in December or February will not count.

The writing window will close on the last day of the month at midnight EST (Summer: -4 GMT) (Winter: -5 GMT). The next month's writing window opens immediately after the previous 30DC month ended. 

Story Language

English and Non-Native English speakers are welcome as long as the story is written in English. If you use a few phrases or words in a language other than English to lend authenticity to the story, it's acceptable as long as an English speaker can understand it in the context of the story.

General Story Guidelines

Please ensure you own and control all the rights to the story you submit to this challenge.

We accept new or ongoing stories, not complete stories. Complete stories are welcomed in the Amby Awards on @TheAmbys profile (coming in August).

We don't mind how many chapters your ongoing story already has. You can either start with a brand new story or an ongoing story that has existing chapters.

We do not accept Google or Word Docs or PDFs. The story must be published here on Wattpad.

We accept stories of all genres or themes but cannot accept collections of short stories, poetry, or non-fiction works. Fan fiction is welcome in the 30DC if it's not a collection of one-shots but in a novella or novel format.

The number of reads or votes on the story does not matter in this challenge.

The publishing date of your story doesn't matter. It can be a new WIP (work in progress) or an older story you want to revisit.

In addition, please ensure you add meaningful tags to give readers more insight into your story. Tags help people find your story when searching.

Stories with mature content are eligible, but please ensure you adhere to Wattpad Content Guidelines.

Guidelines on Story Structure

We do not have any word count requirement by the end of the 30 days. Any amount of words you managed to add is progress. But only those who do reach a milestone will receive the added rewards.

Author notes, forewards, playlists, character descriptions, etc., will not be counted toward the total word count you added during the challenge. We only consider words added to the actual story. That said, we advise against including unnecessary author notes in the storytelling chapters. Keep notes, lists, and descriptions in separate chapters where possible.

You are allowed to add any number of chapters you need, and we don't mind how many words you add per chapter.

No co-written stories. Only one author per story.

You can only enter one story at a time, but you can enter a different story each month.

~ Do not advertise your story in the comment section or ask for reads because such comments will be removed.

~ Please don't be rude on our message board. Keep it constructive and positive!

~ Spammers will be muted, and persistent spammers/trolls will be blocked and reported.

Submission Guidelines and Forms

There is no advantage to be gained by early or late submission. All stories will undergo the same level of screening for eligibility.

Remember, this is a challenge, not a contest, so stories will not be judged.

If you wish not to enter the challenge formally, you are still welcome to join in on the support on the message board.

Please ensure the Wattpad Username you enter in the forms is correct and exactly as it appears on Wattpad. This is not your profile name you can edit, this is the username you chose that is unique to you and has the @ symbol in front of it.

You will need to provide the direct link (URL) to your story on Wattpad as part of your submission. If you are unsure where to find the link, consult this article from the Help Center. You can also copy and paste the link you see in your browser while on your story.
