Prompt 30: Write About Something you Purchased Used.
Sweet Eru, we finally made it to 30 after my over a month hiatus. Thank you guys so much for 1.6k views! It really does mean a lot to me. <3 Hearts for everyone! Now, as many of you know I try to do something longer for my "milestone prompts" so this will be interesting. And yes, I know what I wrote on the last one, but there will most likely be Glorfindel. *holds up hands* I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I just love to write him. :3 So, with that all done, sit down, get some popcorn, realize you don't need to popcorn, keep the popcorn, and read Prompt 30!

The moment Elrond opened the book he coughed from the amazing amount of dust. I shouldn't open these by my mouth... He had only read the cover and he bought it without a second thought. A book filled with intricate drawings of healing plants.
In truth, Elrond had no idea why he bought it. He had plenty of them like it. Sweet Eru, I must have the largest amount of healing books in all of Arda. He fingered through the pages, taking careful precautions to not smudge the drawings.
He bought it from a human who was selling things that had belonged to his father before he died. Perhaps that was why he had bought it, he felt bad. I suppose that could be why. None of the drawings were colored, they were only charcoal. Elrond loved charcoal drawings, he enjoyed doing them in his free time.
The Lord yawned, rubbing his eyes. It was noon and yet he felt as he could sleep for a few days. Odd, I've been sleeping. He closed the book, setting it on his desk and get up onto his feet. The Lord stretched, rubbing his neck and scanning the study for anything out of place.
Perhaps I can just sleep for a little while. I'm sure than Erestor can handle whatever will happen in an hour. I'll only sleep for an hour. Elrond slipped out of his heavy dress robes, throwing them on the floor in exchange for sleeping robes. Pulling them over his head and brushing them out, the lord collapsed on his bed, kicking back the covers. Elrond threw the blankets back over his head, nestling under the pile of warm, soft, fabric. With that, he fell into his world of dreams.

Elrond awoke, shivering. I'm surprised it isn't snowing in here. He looked over to the glass balcony door he had left open in the afternoon, when it was warm. Wait a moment... Elrond rubbed his eyes, blinking. Outside the sky had turned black and the moon was half way through the sky. It's midnight!?
Confused, and half asleep, the Lord got out of bed. The stone floor was cold, especially since he was barefoot. Elrond walked over to the door and slammed it shut, he was too confused to be gentle to his door. Was that healing sleep? I haven't used magic at all this month...
The Lord rubbed his eyes again, lost, and unsure what to do he decided to read. I have nothing better to do I suppose. The idea of seeing what he missed today crossed his mind, but everyone would most likely be in some kind of sleep at this hour.
Hold on... Where's my book? Elrond's desk was void of any books about healing. There was one book sitting there that had all of the city records in it, but the desk was void of books otherwise. Elrond slammed his hand down on the desk in anger, growling.
Someone, something, somewhere, is messing with me. I don't play well with people like that. The Half-Elf smiled. But if we're going to play, so be it. Elrond put on his gold set of armor. Gold and blue, herald of the King. He grabbed his sword and tightened the belt with the sheath around his waist.
"Let's play." Elrond growled, still smirking.
The Pheredhil slipped from his study and found the hallways empty, silent. There weren't even birds chirping outside, there was nothing except the light clank of metal on metal. I know you're here, I can feel your presence. Elrond swirled around in a slow circle, making sure to watch for any movement or any person. Waiting to hear a single sound in the air that seemed itself to be still.
"My Lord Elrond." The Half-Elf whipped around to see that perhaps he had gone crazy. Glorfindel stood alone in the hallway. I don't believe you're alone for a second, there is something else here. Oddly enough, both of the presences came from the Vanya in the Hallway.
"Lord Glorfindel, what brings you here?"
"The clank of metal, my Lord." Glorfindel shrugged. "Odd, I don't think there is a reason for you to dressed to kill." The Vanyar narrowed his eyes. Perhaps Elrond was mistaken, but he would have swore on his brother's grave that he saw a red spark in the Vanya's otherwise blue eyes.
"There someone else here." Elrond growled. And I have a feeling it isn't you. Glorfindel spread his hands apart, smiling.
"Tis only us my Lord, no one else." That spark, it's still there, it's coming back. Elrond reached down for his sword by his side with a subtle motion.
"Of course, Lord Glorfindel" He narrowed his eyes. "Perhaps you can tell me something." The Vanyar stiffened and narrowed his eyes, his spark once again lighting his eyes. The commander's fingers brushed the hilt of his sword.
"You should know that you can ask me anything, my Lord."
"Tell me then, mellon nin, why do your eyes change when I speak to you?"
"I don't know what you mean." Glorfindel began to growl, turning as if to stalk away. If you think you're going that easy, you're in for a ride. "Go back to bed my Lord, as will I."
"Nay, Glorfindel, you won't." Elrond smiled again, pulling out his sharpened steel long sword and pointing it at the Elf in the hallway. "You're not supposed to be here."
"I'm not my Lord? Is it a crime to walk around in the night?"
"Far from it, it's crime to be in two places at one." Glorfindel narrowed his eyes once again.
"I am only here my Lord."
"Nay, you're up to the far north in Arnor." Elrond smirked. "Looking for my sons." The Vanyar took a small step back, and began to laugh.
"It seems I can't have any fun with you," The spirit's body, still in the shape of Glorfindel, pulled out it's own sword. "I guess I'll finish with you and move on." The spirit lunged forwards and attempted to stab the Half-Elf through the heart. Tisk, you humans never learn.
Elrond grabbed the form of his close friend by the back of his neck and and placed his own sword to his neck. "I doubt you'll be killing anyone, old man." He slid the metal across the man's throat, turning from Glorfindel to a young man within the first moment it moved.
The spirit dropped to the floor with a clank. Well, that was easier than expected. Elrond looked over his gauntlets. I suppose I didn't need any of this. Shrugging, he went back into his study. The body will disappear.
The book sat on his desk, untouched it looked from the outside. Elrond opened it and began to flip through the pages once again finding that all the pictures were colored red. Tis a sad attempt to scare me. Elrond laughed again and threw the book into his fireplace without even opening his eyes. This will be a tale no one will believe. Elrond sat down in the chair by his desk,
and he watched the book burn.
