Letter #16: The Girl Who Almost Drowned
"Till it happens to you, you don't know how it feels, how it feels, Till it happens to you, you won't know, it won't be real, No, it won't be real, won't know how it feels." Lady Gaga~ Till It Happens To You

Veronica, Veronica,
How could I forget you?
I mean, you tried to kill me for goodness sake.
Don't worry, I won't come back to haunt you. I swear, on my grave. To be honest, maybe our fight did go a bit out of hand.
But seriously, did you really have to drown me? Drowning's the worst way to die, after torture, and other stuff I don't care to mention.
You want air so badly, you'd do anything for oxygen, and not die.
Thinking about it now, Ronny, maybe I should haunt you. I mean, you left me there to die. Would it not be fair for me to seek revenge?
If I remember correctly, this time, I was slightly tipsy when you tried to drown me.
Okay, maybe not slightly tipsy, but tipsy. We were arguing about... wait for it, The Dress!
How were I to know that when you are drunk, you get really passionate about the subject of The Dress.
I still don't get why you think it was white and gold, because your scientific rambling made absolutely no sense to me.
You saw white and gold, I saw blue and black. There. The problem could have been solved like that. I swear, I did not throw the first punch. I don't know how it escalated to a full-out catfight.
Somehow, you and I got close to the pool and you shoved me in the deep side.
I remember every moment loud and clear before I touched the water.
My eyes were wide opened, surprised, when they should have been closed. My mouth was also wide open, and I still lived to regret that. I was going to scream, my arms cartwheeling desperately, before I plunged into the dark water. From the force, my body fell to the bottom of the pool and I had pool water in my lungs.
I coughed instinctively and more water gushed in. My eyes were closed and I couldn't see, so when I thought I had touched the bottom, I sprung up to the top, like a frog.
Biggest mistake of my life.
I was drifting in the middle of pool, desperate for oxygen.
I blindly swum up to what I thought was the surface but my stupid heels were too heavy. They started to drag me down.
With one last push, I reached air.
I gasped, before coughs racked me, water coming up fast. I clung to the pool ladder, shakily climbing up.
A blur of faces is what I remember next, time pressing itself into one second. I had never been more sober in my life, but I passed out after that.
When I woke up, next to the pool, it was morning and other people were passed out too, for being drunk.
Thank you for your lovely attempt at killing me, I'll recommend you to Lucifer, when I die.
From the bottom of my pitless soul,
Natalie Palmer
