Do I need to create a separate book on Wattpad to enter?

Nope! If you already have a preexisting collection of short stories, feel free to add these new ones to that. Just be sure to make it clear where they start within. Also, be sure to tag the collection #30DaysofShortStories so others can find it.

The challenge has already started, can I still enter?

Absolutely! You can start by either working on the prompt for that day, or you can backtrack and do all the previous ones first; it's up to you how to proceed.

Can I use pre-existing characters?

Yes. If you have characters that already exist from another story, you can use them in any of the prompts.

Can my short story be any genre?

Of course! Choose whatever genre you feel can best portray the prompt for that day.

How long do I have to complete my story?

Every day you'll have exactly 24 hours to complete it. The start time is 7 AM EST to 7 AM EST the next day.

What happens if I don't complete the story in time?

Not really anything. You may miss a shout out and a dedication in the next chapter as I believe I'll start choosing stories that I believe had the best portrayal of the prompt.

If I miss the deadline can I continue writing?

Yes! This isn't an actual competition. It's a challenge, so even if you miss the deadline you are not disqualified or anything of the like.

How long should my short story be?

Generally a short story is anything up to 7,500 words. Anything after this word count is considered a novella. So, go nuts up until that point.
