10 days after the masquerade

***

[Alya's POV]

Everything was back to normal...or, at least that's what everyone thinks. But I'm not having it, my grandma always told me that I had this so called sixth sense or whatever that is. But I definitely know that something is going on with my boss and my best friend, like come on! Prolonged stares.

PROLONGED STARES.

Oh! And seriously? Since when did those two started greeting each other with sweet good morning's? They were mortal enemies! Every time they see each other, they're redder than tomatoes! If looks could burn, our office would have already been on ashes, and those two, HA! You should see them way back...they were like two roosters who are ready to fight and kill each other.

So what on Earth happened during the masquerade party that changed everything?

But then again, I did noticed Sir Adrien a couple of days before the masquerade. It's almost like he got hit by a frying pan in the face. I did noticed that his attitude towards Marinette had changed...a little, still cold-hearted but...I could see something.

So...what really happened on the masquerade party that pulled more of Adrien Agreste strings that he COMPLETELY changed his attitude towards Marinette?

"Alya?" My thoughts suddenly flew out of the window when I heard my bestfriend's voice behind me. "Are you okay? You looked like you were trying to solve a criminal case." Marinette giggled a bit.

I leaned closer to her, glancing at her computer screen where she was solving some receivables for the month. "Girl, tell me, did you stepped on Sir Adrien's foot during the masquerade or did you put a drug on his drink? Why is he acting like that?"

Marinette blinked. "Acting like what?"

"Like..." I wasn't really sure what to say until I saw Sir Adrien staring at Marinette while standing on the door of his office. "That!" I whispered to Marinette as she also turned her head towards our boss. Oh come on, there goes that PROLONGED STARE once again. But then it was broken when Sir Adrien had to answer a phone call. "Prolonged stare, Mari. Prolonged stare! You and Felix don't even stare at each other for that long!" Then I saw the roses Marinette has received once again this morning. "And that one," I pointed the roses. "You still haven't even figured out where it came from."

Mylene, who was beside me whispered. "Did Marinette tell you that she had a dance with Sir Adrien during the masquerade?"

"WHAT?!" I accidentally yelled and everyone in the office looked at me in surprise.

"Guys, if Sir Adrien finds out you're talking more than doing your job, he's gonna fry all of you." Kim grins before turning his back on us and returned on operating the photocopy machine.

"And you didn't tell me?" I turned to Marinette who was blushing...and her cheeks were a lot more pink than what Rose wears everyday.

"I'm...sorry?" She said shyly and I frowned.

"Girl, you're going to start talking to me during lunch break. And NO DETAILS LEFT BEHIND."

[Marinette's POV]

I felt guilty on not telling Alya everything that happened during the masquerade, all I ever told her was that while she was partying with DJ Bubbler, I accidentally met Miss Chloe while roaming around the hotel and that was when I gave her the gift I made, I didn't tell her about Adrien and Felix just yet because...

HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO EVEN?

Should I tell her that I just fell out of love with Felix because I fell for his twin?

Although, that's exactly what happened.

Human feelings are just strange sometimes, you know? Like, one time you are certain of how you feel but then suddenly a person freaks everything up?

"So?" I looked up at Alya while she was looking at me expectantly. "Girl, come on. Seriously? Have you forgotten that I had a sense like a fox? You heard my grandma telling that to me. Now start talking and explain the prolonged stares you and our boss does."

I sighed, hoping she wouldn't judge me. After all, she's my best friend. "That night, I did met with Miss Chloe and gave her the gift. But then after that I told you I went home, right?"

Alya crossed her arms. "But you didn't, did you?"

I shook my head. "At first I thought it was Felix who invited me to dance, so I accepted and talked a bit. But then he took me to the balcony so we could talk privately. He confessed his feelings for me but then...I said I no longer felt the same for him because I fell for his twin. Then, when I was about to walk away, I saw the real Felix and then I realized the one I was talking to was Adrien, and then Adrien talked to me...he uhh...he kissed me and...asked me to be his girl friend but I said no for a moment...I wasn't ready Alya, that was happening too fast."

Alya's eyes were wide in shock, her lunch forgotten on the table, the ice on her cold drink melting. "Whoa, hold up girl. You mean to say you fell in love with The Cold Hearted Boss?"

"He's not really cold-hearted." I shrugged as I took a bite of broccoli. "He was just broken. I could tell you his story but I don't think he would want anyone to know."

"But he told you." Alya frowned. "And after that you just...fell for him?"

"No," I chuckled a bit. "I mean, I felt sympathy at first but...I don't know, I just...did, you know what I mean?"

Alya smiled a bit before she finally started eating the food she bought. "Yeah, that's what I felt for DJ Bubbler the first time I heard his music."

"Alya--"

"It's true!" Alya laughed. "Seriously girl, if you were afraid to tell me that because you thought I was gonna judge you, you're wrong. I mean, love makes us do crazy things, Marinette. So uhh, you're the lucky girl who get to melt Adrien's frozen heart, huh? How'd you do that?"

"I...don't know?" I looked up a bit and thought when I felt it started before taking another spoonful of vegetables. "I mean, it all started when I gave him an umbrella when I saw him crying on the rain way back."

"Whoa," Alya leaned in. "You mean to say you had that kind of moment with Adrien Agreste? Girl, when did your life became a romance novel?"

I giggled. "Alya, all people have their rainy day moments."

"Oh yeah." Alya grinned after taking a sip of her drink. "We had ours too, remember when we were running because Sir Adrien called us during break but then it was raining?"

I looked downcast and frowned. "Please don't repeat the past."

Alya snorted. "You slipped and got soaking wet, when we got to the office Sir Adrien's even had to go to the bathroom to hide that he was laughing at you."

I closed my eyes. "Please stop."

"Okay, okay." Alya chuckled. "But seriously, why did you say no to Sir Adrien? You said you did love him?"

"I told you, Alya." I replied. "I wasn't ready, plus. He's an Agreste, and I'm...just a daughter of a baker."

"Does it matter?" Alya tilted her head and glanced at me before slicing the chicken on her plate. "Girl, if two people love each other, status wouldn't matter. Besides, if Sir Adrien really loves you, he'd fight for you."

"He said he'd wait." I stated. "He kind of uh...stopped by our house when there was a hurricane and yeah...we talked."

"So that explains the prolonged stares." Alya nodded. "He's longing for you, Marinette. He wants to be with you, I say you should go for it, girl!"

"It's not easy, Alya." I replied and smiled a bit. "And I told you, even if I am in love with him, I'm not ready to be with him just yet. Relationship's a big thing for me, I'm not like other people who just takes relationship for fun."

"Touche, girl. But hey, if you need anything, advises, something like that, or just someone to talk to. You know your BFF's here."

I smiled. "Thank you, Alya."

"So if Sir Adrien is unto you and you're also unto him...then you better find out who sends you those roses." Alya grinned. "Unless of course--wait a sec--what if Adrien is the one who sends you those roses?"

My eyes widened. "No way!"

"Girl, who else in the office likes you?" Alya asked before taking another sip on her drink. "Don't tell me that Felix did it!"

"Did you remember a couple of days before the masquerade party when we had lunch with Felix and asked us for an advice about his friend and sister who fell in love with the same guy?"

"Yeah, when I told him to tell his friend to fight?"

"It wasn't his friend." I said before opening the bottled water I bought. "It was him and Adrien." I added before drinking the cold water.

Alya gasped before covering her mouth with her hand. "Felix--oh my gosh, you did said he heard you, right? Is that why he isn't around the office these days? Is he avoiding you?"

"I don't know." I replied. "Adrien said he had some business to attend to. "I didn't get the chance to talk to him after the incident at the hotel, well, this happened; Felix called Adrien and was asking for help so we thought he got into trouble, Adrien went in and I waited outside, I saw Felix coming out but when I asked him what happened, he didn't get the chance to answer me since we both saw Chloe slapping Adrien."

Alya snorted. "Chloe slapped Sir Adrien? Why?"

"I don't know, he didn't told me, after that he just grabbed Felix and they both left." I replied. "That was it, I barely even have talked to Adrien." I shrugged but then I noticed that Alya was smirking at me. "What?"

"You don't even call him 'sir' anymore." She wiggled her eyebrows and I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Alya, you did know since the dawn of time that I didn't respected him as my boss and never called him sir when he's not around."

"Yeah, but you also never say his first name and instead calls him cold-hearted boss and other insult names." Alya commented. "Love does change people."

"Shut up."

Alya chuckled. "We should go back, lunch time is almost over.

"Thanks again, Alya."

We both stood up and started walking back to the office. "Any time, girl. Any time."

A/N.:

First of all, I apologize if this book took four months to update lmao, actually, I have lost my inspiration for writing this and I wouldn't also say that I got my inspiration back but then...yeah, this one's a crappy chapter xD

The plot has already there but my problem now is the way I write the chapters, I only have like...few scenes and all, the entire chapters are not figured out yet.

But I'll try my best to update sooner, especially when the next chapter will be Adrienette loaded so....yeah.

Not sure if anyone is still reading this but if someone still is, I really thank you for your patience. xD
