R is for Recalling thy memory
[Gabriel's POV]
29 days after the masquerade
While standing at the balcony, sipping on my cold wine, I watched my son enter the door casually, but then I squinted my eyes a bit, surely this is Adrien, I could recognize him right away from Felix, but this Adrien is entirely different from who I have known ever since Emilie died. His aura was positive, and it seemed like he had the sunshine right above him. "Hello Father." He casually greeted as he climbed on our stairs, and I only nodded in response, his green eyes that resembles his mother's met my blue ones before he looked away and turned to the door of his room.
Several weeks have passed and yet I still couldn't get the words he spat at me about 'just looking for someone'. I have always blamed him for what happened...but then again, was it really his fault? The fact that he was only 10 and was only asking for pizza?
Then it occured to me. He did mentioned a certain conscience with raven hair.
I sighed and walked into Adrien's room, but I stopped right at the doorstep, debating on whether I should knock or not. After all, I'm still the superior in this house...but at the same time, it's been years since I last visited his room, I have forgotten what it even looked like. Bit I ended up slowly opening it without knocking, peeking my head inside, only to find him lazily slouching on his sofa, smiling at his phone for some reason.
All of a sudden, guilt gushes through me. The last time that I have seen Adrien smiled like that, was before the accident even happened.
Why did I even blamed him?
But then again...who was I suppose to blame for what happened? Who's fault was it?
Or was I just too caught up with my grief...I shook my head, suddenly, nothing made sense, I tried looking for a reason, but suddenly there was none. Nothing made sense, just like the day I lost the love of my life, nothing made sense.
I glanced once again at Adrien, who was chuckling softly while still staring at his phone. What if he was talking to that conscience he told me about?
I have to talk to whoever this is.
I closed the door slowly, before grabbing my phone from my pocket and calling my assistant. "Natalie, what's on my schedule this afternoon?"
"You have three meetings to attend, sir." She politely replied.
"Postpone all my meetings and move them tomorrow...or whenever's my free time." I commanded and she obeyed without hesitation. After that, I hang-up and got into my car and started driving.

As I arrived at the building, I paused right at the entrance and stared at it, a memory suddenly flashing in my mind.
"E-excuse me." A voice said behind me. "Is this Agreste Brand?"
"Yes." I coolly replied as I turned around, but all of a sudden, I saw an angel in front of me and I literally almost fell to the ground. "I-" I started and coughed. "Yes, this is." I tried to act cool, not really sure how I'm doing it since I was looking at an angel.
Her eyes widened upon seeing me, probably recognizing who I was. "Oh! I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't realized it was you."
"No, no!" I waved my hands. "It's okay. Uhh, what is your purpose of being here?"
She slightly blushed, her golden blonde hair slightly flying by the low wind, her green eyes sparkling like emerald gems. "I uhh...I saw on an advertisement that you're looking for models and...well, I wanted to..."
"Oh." I replied. "You uhh, you can submit your application letter and resume to my assistant, my office is on the top floor, you can use the elevator and uhh..." I scratched my head before deciding to just insert it on my pockets before I do something stupid. "We've never met but...can we have a coffee or something?"
She blinked in surprised, a bit hesitant, but then she smiled. "Okay?"
"G-great!" I accidentally exclaimed. "I mean, y-yeah. Great. I'll see you later...?"
Her smile brightened before extending her hand. "Emilie."
I accepted her and shook it formally. "Emilie," I repeated. "Call me Gabriel."
The memory slowly fades away from my vision as I was slowly being brought back to reality, the time warp disappearing. The guard looked at me curiously, debating on whether she should ask if I was fine or not. I shook my head and took myself back to the present. Emilie is gone and there's nothing I can do about it.
"Natalie, can you give me a list of our employees on the Accounting Department?" I asked Natalie over the phone.
"I'll send it shortly to your email, sir." Natalie politely replied.
"Thank you."

[Marinette's POV]
I sighed annoyingly as I continued adding numbers after numbers, I hated numbers, I hated Mathematics, and if only I have been accepted as a real fashion designer in this company, I wouldn't be here adding numbers.
I hate numbers.
"Marinette!" Rose excitedly squeaked as she entered our office. "Our big boss wants to see you!" She announced before twirling and disappearing on their office cubicle.
My eyes widened and I suddenly wanted to disappear...why would Gabriel Agreste want to see me?
But...did I missheard that?
"Rose," I called and she peaked her head from the metallic cover. "Did you said...Big boss? Not Coldhearted boss?"
"You heard me, it's Big Boss." She replied, her blue eyes twinkling excitedly. I was about to ask why she's so excited but...what do you really expect from Rose? "And his assistant said it's urgent so you need to be there right now."
My mind immediately stopped working and looked over to Alya's empty seat. Ugh, I needed her help RIGHT NOW. Why did she file for vacation leave TODAY?!
"My family and I are going on a trip for three days so...don't burn the office down while I'm not around!" Alya's voice from yesterday echoed through my mind, though I know she's just exaggerating, there's also no doubt that I can actually burn this office down either accidentally or I just wanted to.
My feet starting to run, like I was on a race and there was a huge pile of money at the finish line, but then again, it's not a huge pile of money...it's a scary human being instead and if I don't make it in time, he's throw me off a bridge. "Miss Dupain-Cheng." Mr. Gabriel Agreste ackmowledge when after I knocked at his door and entered.
"G--good afternoon, s-sir." I bowed politely and stood behind the door.
"Sit down." He said and I obeyed, avoiding eye contact with him, unlike his son, his eyes were blue, like ice, if he had magic powers, it'll either be his eyes having the ability to freeze people, or hypnotism, somehow he could use telepathy to control people's minds. "Do you know why I called you here, Miss Dupain-Cheng?"
"N-no sir." I honestly replied.
"My son and I had a conversation back then." He calmly said. "And I believe you were the one he mentioned to me." I blinked. Which one did he mean? Felix? Adrien? Why would any of them mention me to their father? Are they planning on kicking me out of their company? Or am I going to be promoted instead? Or............was it the photocopy machine? "What?" He asked.
"What?" I snapped out of my thoughts.
"You said something about photocopy machine." He raised his eyebrow and I awkwardly cough. Why do I keep saying that our loud?
"Oh." I coughed again. "That was nothing."
"Anyway, Adrien mentioned to me about some conscience with raven hair, I don't see anyone else here apart from you."
My eyes widened in shock. So Adrien did what I said. "I didn't mean any disrespect or anything, sir. But almost a month ago, I saw your son crying in the rain so I got concerned, we sort of talked."
"So that's what happened." He replied. "Hmm."
"A-are you...mad at me, sir?"
"The last time I saw Adrien smile, it was when he told his twin that he met a girl at the cemetery, after his mother's burial. That girl gave him an umbrella that day, I bet he still has it until now." He said and yet his voice was soft, unlike the calm and cold one we all used to hear everyday. "I heard him promise to his twin he'll find that girl one day."
My eyebrows furrowed confusingly, and suddenly a memory I have long forgotten flashed at my mind. "I'm sorry, but you shouldn't let yourself get wet by the rain or you'll get sick."
The blonde boy frowned a bit but before accepting her umbrella "Thank you. Who are you?"
"I'm Mari."
"You are that girl, aren't you?" He asked and I blinked several times before nodding. "You were the one who was there when I blamed him for his mother's death, that umbrella you gave him kept him going, knowing that somewhere out there, someone cared for him when I didn't. It was wrong of me of to blame him, I don't even know why I did it in the first place." He sighed before glancing at an old frame on the right side of his wall, deciding to also look at it, I saw an old drawing of him, Adrien, Felix and Mrs. Agreste. Obviously drawn by a younger Adrien. "Did he asked you out?"
"W-what?"
"Did he asked you out?"
"N--well, I--"
"Too bad if he didn't."
"Uhh..."
He smiled a bit. "Miss Dupain-Cheng, there's no need for you to be intimidated. I still haven't forgotten about you being the one who designed the dresses for Miss Bourgeois' ball. We owe for that." I smiled a bit as well and bowed politely. "Well, I guess I'll just have to talk to my son. I realized I just haven't lost my Emilie. At that day, I also lost myself, and my sons. Thank you for bringing your light to my Adrien." He said and smiled...for the first time in forever.
"I...I don't know what say, sir."
"Just say yes to my son."
