It's not that I hate all pop punk. In fact I listen to a lot of pop punk, and I appreciate that the genre's "thing" is self-aware over exaggeration. The thing is, Simple Plan to me has never seemed self-aware enough to pull off the over exaggeration.

It's like they truly believe that they're still angsty teens, and that their first world problems are actually horrible tragedies, with no sense of irony at all.

In a way, I'd even say the song Family Reunion is more mature than Simple Plan, mostly because at least it's not meant to be taken seriously.

Summary: I really don't like Simple Plan. But if you do that's fine :/ to each their own
