Raccoons are Peak Life Goals
Even with the world as terrible as it is, Toby is just glad Queen Fluffbutt the Third, the raccoon, will never accuse him of being a freak. Instead she just accepts the peanuts given to her by the ticing boy and hisses at anything else around them. Ah, to be a simple racoon with no purpose other than sleeping, getting fat, and being borderline rabid. That is peak life goals right there.
'Too bad I was not born a raccoon.' Toby thought to himself as he watched her Highness get into a fight with a nearby raccoon. 'Though I'm pretty sure Masky and Hoody already think I am one.'
It's true that in his first year at the mansion he was hard to get along with due to his excessive amount of energy. At first only Sally could seem to tolerate his energy, though probably because the 8 year old girl was the only one who could match it. So he had taken a liking to the local raccoon population. It took time, but he was eventually able to earn their trust. By then the others in the House had learned to deal with his hyperness.
Queen Fluffbutt had chased off the other raccoon and claimed the peanuts Toby had brought as her prize. She greedily chewed away at them while sitting in the twitching boy's lap. Toby had removed his goggles so he could look at her without the orange colored tint. He petted her fluffy fur from which she was named, a content smile on his exposed face. This was the closest to a pet he could get, and even then he was given shit for befriending the wild animal. Particularly by-
"Damn it, Toby! Are you petting that raccoon again?!?" A male voice scolded, irritated at finding the younger with the raccoons again. Said raccoon grabbed the rest of the bag in her mouth and scampered off into the trees, hissing all the way.
"Aww." Toby pouted, turning around to face the other proxy. Standing behind him with his hands crossed was Masky and right behind him was Hoodie. "W-why do you al-always scare them o-off? W-w-we were cu-cuddling."
"Toby, for the last time, that is a disgusting, wild, disease ridden, quite possibly rabid animal." Masky sighed heavily as he explained. "You're not supposed to 'cuddle' them at all. What if it bites you?"
"So what? I-I can't feel i-it." Toby shrugged as he stood up.
"That's not the point, Toby." Masky argued, frustrated with the repeating conversation.
"I think it's kind of cute." Hoodie commented.
"See, Hoodie gets it." Toby smiled, pointing at the hooded man.
Masky looked at his boyfriend, facial expression unreadable due to the mask. Hoodie just shrugged his shoulders back at him. Masky sighed again in frustration and turned back to the ticking boy. "Stop patting the raccoons before you get rabies."
"Awww." Toby cooed, bouncing to the tips of their toes to bring his face closer to the taller man's face, a big grin on his face. "I-if you keep this up the others are going t-to th-think you actually care about me." He giggled as he rocked back on his feet. Off to the side Hoodie chuckled like mad to himself.
"Shut it, Rodgers!" Masky huffed angrily, crossing his arms more tightly. "We have a mission. That's why we're out here."
"Oh?" Toby tilted his head, deep brown eyes widening in curiosity. Hoodie coughed, saying something under his breath causing Masky to jab him in the ribs. Toby looked at him curiously, but paid it no more attention.
He always enjoyed going on missions, especially with his two fellow proxies. It always sent a thrill through him to go on the hunt with them. Whether it ends with him splitting his victims head open with or seeing Masky bash their head in with his crowbar and powerful muscles or watching Hoodie carefully line up his scope with his victim. It was like watching powerful predators hunting their prey before going in for the kill. In fact, the analogy wasn't too far off the mark. They were dangerous predators on the hunt.
A hunt that Toby has looked forward to every time since he was brought here. Even when he was still new to killing people and on his first mission. After they had him join a mission to train him and he fully awakened his bloodlust. Since then he had taken on many more, yet it always stayed fresh. The thrill never stopped sending his heart racing and the excitement never quieted down.
"It's a quick mission, and shouldn't take more than a day." Masky started to give him the details. "A couple who have gotten too close to the portals too many times to be coincidental. They've been too curious about our kind for too long."
"Ah." Toby nodded his head, understanding.
In the Underrealm while most Lords are left to govern themselves and their House, the most powerful ones are given the duty by the Grand Council to protect the Underrealm from human discovery. As Slenderman is one of the most powerful ones he uses his proxies to take care of anyone who gets a little too close to discovering the Underrealm. About half their missions were made up of such.
"We'll head to their home tonight and kill anyone inside. This will take us kind of far from here so we'll be spending the night in the woods." Masky read off of his notepad, having left the file inside. "There is an old shack, owned by someone who rarely ever visits so we should be safe to sleep there. We will have to park the car by the shack and make our way into the small town by foot. They live too far in for us to risk the car being spotted."
"Oooh! We're g-going c-c-c-camping!" Toby cheered excitedly while throwing his hands in the air. Both masked proxies stared at him, faces unreadable under their masks. Masky sighed again while Hoodie chuckled and shoved the younger in the direction of the mansion.
"Go get ready, Toby." He gently nudged him forward. "Tim and I have already put out bags in the car. We'll wait for you by it."
"O-okay!" Toby replied before sprinting off towards the mansion. He ran inside, sprinted up the stairs, fell back down them, ran back up and down the hall to his room.
His room is three doors down, past Jeffs and Bens rooms respectively. On the other side of his room was a storage room which was followed by a hallway. Across from his room was EJ's room. Next to him, going back in the direction of the stairs, is Masky and Hoodie's large shared room followed by a large storage room in front of the stairs. The rest of the mansion on that side of the stairs is Slendermans personal area. The only part any of the pastas were allowed access to was the front part of his office. The rest of the bedrooms were down either side of the hallways mentioned before. Every room had a personal bathroom that separated each room from each other so no two pastas shared a direct wall with each other.
Toby trotted happily through his room, gathering anything he might need into his bag. A change of clothes, KT tape, a bag of waffle gummies, and blanket and pillow. He then put on his belt that held his hatchest, but didn't add them on yet because of the car ride. He shoved his goggles and face guard into the front pocket of hoodie before walking out. As he was approaching the car he saw Hoodie and Masky talking to each other in hushed voices. They stopped when Toby approached, however, perplexing the young killer. He shrugged it off and threw his stuff in the trunk before hopping in the back. The other two got into the car, Masky in the driver's seat, and they started off on their mission.
The trip was long and relatively boring. Hoodie gave directions while Masky focused on the road. Toby chilled in the back, texting away at his phone. By the time they reached the shack it was nearly dark. They had enough time to park the car and gather anything they needed for the kills.
They trekked through the woods for as long as they could to stay hidden. Their target house sat two blocks outside the woods they used as cover, so they would have to be sneaky. When they reached the edge it was a little bit after dark, nearly ten at night. Still early enough for the occasional car to pass by. Masky took point, watching for cars or passersby. Once he deemed the coast clear he signaled for them to move forward. The neighborhood wasn't your typical suburb. There were almost no fences for them to climb over and a lot more trees instead, though not nearly as much as the woods.
This gave the advantage of speed, but left more open spaces where they could be spotted. Didn't help that two out of three wore yellowish orange jackets and hoodies. Still, they were experienced at this and managed to get to the target house unseen. They climbed up a tree in the backyard, giving them good views of the first and second story windows. Hoodie took out his binoculars to get a better look.
"What do you see?" Masky asked, eyes never leaving the house.
"The woman is upstairs, I think in the bedroom." Hoodie said as he shifted his gaze around. "Three more are in the living room. Two kids and an elder. Looks like the elder is taking them for the night. Probably their grandmother."
"Where's the man?" Masky asked, shifting on the branch to get a better look. Toby stood on a branch a little bit higher, keeping his sights on the woman should she move from the bedroom.
"Not sure, but I think he's in the living room with the elder. She keeps talking to someone in there other than the kids." Hoodie shrugged, but kept looking.
"About h-h-how long until the e-elder and ki-ids l-leave?" Toby asked, starting to get bored. He's never had much patients for recon, though he didn't do anything to mess with the mission.
"Any minute now, Toby. Be patient." Hoodie chided softly, attention mostly on the family. After about ten minutes the two kids and their grandmother had left. "Alright, they're gone now and I can confirm the mystery person is the man. He is leaving the living room and heading to the stairs now."
"Alright, Toby and I will move to the back door and get it open. You keep an eye on the two until we get it open, then join us." Masky told Hoodie, pointing to said door.
"You know I like it when you get all bossy." Hoodie chuckled, clearly flirting with the other male.
"Not now, Brian." Macky chuckled as well, jumping out of the tree. Toby followed right after, landing next to the taller male.
"Y-you two are j-just s-s-so sweet w-with ea-each other." Toby teased them, grin hidden by his mouth guard.
"Come on and stay quiet." Masky moved forward to the door, staying low to the ground. He carefully opened the screen door to prevent it from squeaking. He was about to pick the lock, but stopped. Instead he turned to look at the younger proxy. "You unlock the door. Show me what you've learned."
"A-are y-y-ou sure?" Toby asked, but was only given the lock picking set in response. Toby carefully took the kit and started to unlock it. It took a little longer than if Masky had done it, but he still got through. Toby looked up at the other, silently asking for opinion.
"Not bad, Toby." Masky nodded as he signalled Hoodie over. "We still need to work on your speed, but not bad."
Toby bounced excitedly, pleased with the praise. The moment Hoodie came over they quietly walked into the house. Hoodie signaled that they were still upstairs, so they made their way to the stairs. When up they heard sounds coming from two different directions. The female from the bedroom and the male from the bathroom. Masky signaled for Toby to go to the bedroom while he'll take on the male. Hoodie would remain in the hallway to back up either one if something went wrong. They each then walked in different directions, trying to get their target at the same time as the other.
Toby watched Hoodie from down the hall, as Masky was now out of sight. He watched the hooded man count down on his fingers and placed his hand on his hatchets. The second he was given the go signal he opened the door and threw his hatchet at the first thing he saw move. Though he aimed for the head, she had jumped back in fear when he threw open the door, making him hit her in the bottom of her throat. The force knocked her to the ground, making her hit the wall on the way down. One hand had reached up to her throat instinctively while the other tried to scoot herself back away from the ticking killer.
As for Toby, he felt that thrill again. The kind you only get when making a kill. His blood rushed seeing hers spill out everywhere in rivers of crimson. The voices quieted down, just as eager as he was for the killing blow. He grabbed his other hatchet, raising above his head before bringing it down with enough force to bury it deep into her skull. Small fragments of bone shards mugged with blood and brains splattered all around the area. It stained the bed and carpet while painting the wall red. Toby ripped both of them out, allowing red droplets to rain down the area like a gruesome rain shower.
He turned around, surprised to see both Hoodie and Masky standing in the doorway, watching. Masky had blood down his front and dripping off his gloved hands. One of his hands rested on the door frame, causing blood to run down it. Toby turned to face them more fully, causing them to snap out of it. Masky walked through the room to inspect the kill. Even after two years of working with them Masky still double checked each kill to make sure they were dead. No one wanted any screw ups.
Once satisfied he turned towards the ticking killer. "Hoodie and I are going to head down stairs to gather anything of interest. You check to make sure any research they've done up here is destroyed."
"Y-you go-ot it!" Toby said cheerfully as he put his hatchets away.
He started his scavenger hunt as the other two left. He found lots of it in the bookcase and the side tables. Mostly papers of sightings and half baked theories. Still, nothing he wanted to be kept lying around here. He searched through the tables some more before heading over to the woman's vanity. A quick look through the draws showed nothing but beauty supplies. He checked the jewelry box too, but found nothing.
Satisfied that everything was found he started looking through her stuff. She had a couple of nice pieces of jewelry that he pocketed. There was a person in Underrealm City who bought stolen goods to sell to pawn shops on Earth. As he was going through her stuff his hand knocked over a lipstick. It popped open, revealing a soft light pink color. It was pretty without being incredibly bright. Toby, in almost a trance, picked it up and brought it to his face. He lowered his mouth guard to gently place the lipstick against his lips. He rubbed it on, going over it a couple of times before lowering it. Turning his head to hide the gash, he studied his reflection, finding that he liked this color on him. It made him feel almost pretty.
He studied himself for a moment more before rubbing it off and capping the tube. He shoved that in his pocket as well, blushing in slight embarrassment. He tried to shake it off and moved on to the kids room. Some of Sally's toys were becoming a bit worn down, as does happen when you have a forever eight year old. So he picked out a couple of 'new' toys for her to play with before heading down stairs.
Toby handed over all the research he found to Masky before they booked it out of there. They were just as coutiouse heading back to the cabin as they were getting to the house. Twice Masky had to duck them down due to passing cars. Once they got back to the cabin it was early in the morning. The sun would be up soon and they were tired. But they were also sweaty and covered in blood. Luckily the place had a shower system in place.
Masky had decided to go first while Toby and Hoodie brought the bags inside. Hoodie went out to get some firewood for the wood stove oven so they could eat something. Toby chilled in the bedroom, sitting on the bed wind down. He heard the water stop, but didn't think anything of it, having forgotten that clothes were in the bedroom with him. Masky had also forgotten that they were not at the Slendermansion, this was not his bathroom, and anyone could be in the bedroom.
So Masky walked out of the bathroom, full nudity, while drying his hair. That means he didn't see Toby's face go red when he turned his head at the sound of the bathroom door opening. Meaning he got a full, front row view of everything Masky. He let out a squeak of shock and buried his face in the pillow, completely embarrassed. Masky, upon hearing the squeak, swore before covering up and running back into the bathroom with his clothes. He got changed before going outside to smoke.
And that was how Hoodie found them. Tim outside chain smoking like the world was ending and Toby inside, red as a tomato, with his face buried in the sheets.
