Warm Fire, Paper, Up All Night Waiting

Megastudio28

Ash smiled softly at the note in her hands, it was a printed out copy of the email from her girlfriend, who was flying in from California. They hadn't seen one another in almost a year and it was killing them both being away from one another for so long.

Ash held the note close to her chest and imagined how amazing it would be to have her girlfriend in her arms once again. They'd lie by the fire and cuddle until the sun came up. Hot chocolate and coffee would taint their breaths as they kissed one another repeatedly, until they were unable to breathe. Ash sighed happily and lay back, looking into the fire burning. She was happy.

She lay on her back, her mind reeling, and she checked the clock once again. She'd been up all night, waiting for the text from Sofia saying she'd landed and to come and pick her up. Of course she had the flight details, but there was always the checks and baggage claim to get through.

A ping from her phone drew her from her thoughts and she scrabbled to pick it up.

I'm ready.

Ash grinned and grabbed her keys, barely stopping to pick up her shoes, before she was out the door and in her car. She'd been waiting for too long to just hug Sofia. She barely managed to sit still the entire drive and she parked as soon as she found the first parking space. She rushed to arrivals and almost squealed.

Her girlfriend stood with her long brown hair down to her waist, a pair of sunglasses atop her head, and her cute and lazy flight clothes looking even better than she remembered. She ran over to Sofia and hugged her tightly, babbling incoherently about how much she'd been missed.

"I missed you too, Ash," Sofia laughed softly and Ash could've swooned on the spot.

Ash took her hand and kissed her cheek before pulling her to the car, where they could kiss as much as they wanted.
