Part 9: Two Kinds of People

Romans 6:11 NIV

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

In the book of Ephesians chapter two verse 1, it is clearly stated that we are all dead because of our trespasses and sins. We are not only spiritually 'sick' but spiritually dead. I agree on the words of the great evangelist, Leonard Ravenhill that there only two kinds of people in the world. They are those who are already dead to sin, as Romans 6:11 clearly states, or dead in sin. Those who are dead to sin are believers of Christ, who trusted in Him for the forgiveness of their sins. They are those wholly trusted wholly on the grace of God for their salvation and now 'dead to sin but alive to God'.

There is now life to those who are in Christ. So the direction of life of a true follower and believer of Christ is now a life of righteousness. As Paul says to the Corinthian Church, 'if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature'. We are new creation in Christ. We are now the righteousness of God through Christ. We are the salt of the earth and light of the world. We are the workmanship of God created for His own glory.

Reflection:

So, as a Christian, Christ must be manifested in our lives. We, the church, must be serving as the conscience of the community.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for reminding us that we are your workmanship, created for your own purpose and glory. We are called to live for Christ and if it is the Lord's will to die also in His name. Give us grace, strength and will because apart from Your grace we are nothing. Help us to live our life for the purpose of doing Your will and glorifying Your Name. So, that in everything we do whether we eat or drink, we will glorify Your Name. In Jesus name, Amen.
