Part 4: Man's Greatest Problem and God's Perfect Solution
Psalm 5:4
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, evil people are not welcome.
Every Sunday we will hear the worship leader shout and ask the congregation, "God is good...", and the congregation will answer, "all the time...". But what we heard Sunday after Sunday is man's greatest problem. Man faces a greatest dilemma: if God is good he cannot tolerate sin.
God is good, perfect, holy, and blameless. He is a God who is not pleased with wickedness and sins. And the Bible is very clear about man, 'that there is no one that is righteous, not even one' (Rom 3:10), and 'for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. We have been conceived in sin as David wrote in Psalm 51:5. We must understand that the chief end of man, or should I say that the sole purpose of man is to "glorify God and enjoy Him forever." Man was created for a sole purpose: that in everything we do, whether we eat or drink, we do it for the Glory of God! Everything that is not done for the glory of God, whether in word or deed is considered as sin! And we must bare this in our mind that even one sin committed by man, is more than enough for God to throw him into HELL! Because God is a righteous judge, a holy and perfect God, He cannot tolerate even a single sin.
So then, this is the problem: God is good and men are not. Therefore, man is guilty with death (spiritual death), for the Bible is clear that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). But God, our heavenly and loving Father, out of His love, mercy and compassion, made a solution to this dilemma. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be the ransom for our sins. To stand in behalf of us, and to pay the price of our sins on the cross. The wrath of God has been poured out to Christ. He was forsaken by God the Father because of us and because of our terrible sins. He was made sin because of us, even though He knew no sin. He was made sin, so that we might became the righteousness of God. So if you are a believer of Christ, God treat you not as an enemy but as an adopted son through Christ. And God, on that cross, as if announcing to the world: "I love you, I love you, I love you so much.... that even though you have rebelled and sinned against me, I still gave my precious and begotten Son whom I love so much for you." Oh how great is the love of God towards us! Praise Him in everything.
Reflect on:
Mark 1:15
"Repent and believe the gospel!"
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
