Chapter Twenty
"Serena?" I called out, waiting on hearing her response. It was another day wasted. I had an evening planned for us, but getting a last minute call from work. It was cancelled, and Serena assured me it was fine, since she wanted to work on her dress.
I began to worry since I have left her in there since the morning, and I noticed that the kitchen has been in the condition since this morning: used.
I headed to her door, and knocked. She didn't answer for a couple seconds. I knocked once more, and no answer. I looked down at my watch, it was midnight. I turned the handle, and luckily it was open. As I entered, I made sure to not look at the surroundings, only for her.
"Serena?" I asked once more as I approached, she had her head down in her arms.
She's sleep deprived.
"You have to stop overworking yourself," I mumbled under my breath, and slowly picked her up from the chair. Looking at her face, I spot her face was wet and red. Was she crying? I thought to myself. Taking a step out towards the door, she moved in my arms.
"Almost done," She mumbled in her sleep, "Fix it," Her face scrunched up.
I walked out of her studio and headed to our room. I didn't know how I can help her, or know what was going in her mind. It frustrated me that she probably had a breakdown, and I wasn't there to comfort her.
I placed Serena on her side of the bed, and she felt the motion causing her to slowly open her eyes,"Ash?" She asked confused, and sat up. Her eyes widen as she looked at her surrounding, "What time is it?"
"Midnight," I answered her. "Go to sleep,"
"I can't," She exclaimed looking at me, "I made a mistake, and I have to fix it," She got out of the bed, but I grabbed her arm.
"Serena, you need to sleep," I reassured her while she shook her head.
She let go of my hand, "Ash, I will after I fix my mistake," She reassured me, but then her hands covered her mouth as she gasped. "You saw the dress,"
I immediately looked at her, and shook my head. "I didn't, I made sure to not look my surroundings. I know how important you wanted to surprise me,"
The room was filled with silence, but Serena turned around and left our room. I wanted to go after her, but I knew she wouldn't listen to me.
I decided that if I couldn't get her to sleep, I would just wait til she comes back to our room. Pikachu woke up, and jumped into my arms.
I laid back on my bed, with Pikachu on top of my stomach, "I can't wait for this to be all over," I informed the cat while he licked himself clean, "I just want everything to go back to the way everything was."
