Chapter Nine
"How has everything been?" My mom questioned me as my fiance and I were currently at lunch at her restaurant.
"Well, it's been good," I answered as I took a spoonful of my favorite dish while I noticed Serena raised a brow.
"Good for him, he's not the one that's actually planning the wedding," Serena remarked as my mom let out a small laugh.
She turned to Serena's direction, "Let me guess: Was he there for the cake tasting and meals?" She questioned while I looked up as Serena nodded her head.
I crossed my arms feeling offended from that comment. "I did more than just picking out the food!" I proclaimed as Serena sent me a glare to lower my voice.
I immediately raised both my hands up in surrender as Serena's face fell into laughter. "I can't take you serious," She giggled as I rolled my eyes.
My mother soon interrupted us, as she grabbed Serena's hand. "Is it true? Your parents informed me that you were making the wedding dress?" She questioned as Serena nodded her head.
"It's always been my dream to wear my own wedding dress," She sent her pretty smile as my mom sent out a squeal.
I remembered at how much Serena spent her nights sketching out that tissue paper that she calls 'pattern'. She allowed to me check up on her since she knew I wouldn't be able to understand anything. And, indeed she was correct.
I would see her table messy of tissue paper. Her rack was full of different fabrics that I had no idea if it's for her dress or regular prototypes.
One thing Serena made sure was to hide her designs of the dress. I didn't even bother looking for it, since I knew she would be upset if I saw it.
"That's so neat, Serena." My mom commented. As she then excused herself, and left to continue her business.
I turned my attention back to Serena who was eating her dish. "I can't wait til we are married," I said as she looked up to my eyes. "We can finally start our own family," A smile escaped through my lips.
The honey blonde placed down her spoon as she extended her arm to reach for my hand. "I know, me too. I never thought you would be the one." She said sheepishly as her grip was soft.
"I'm glad we started dating the last month of our senior year. It allowed us to stick together through college and here we are," I said as I looked at Serena.
She has changed so much, the younger Serena when I had first met her was very shy. She used to use her long locks to cover her face if she was ever nervous or embarrassed. Her clothes were very sophisticated as if she just came from a private school. Her simple black top, and red skirt.
Her senior year was when she had changed into someone mature. She wasn't the shy girl anymore. Serena had gain more confident as she even had guts to chop off her hair. She even had expanded her style in clothing. She would wear different colors of outfits she owns.
And, now, there she was seating across from me. Her cerulean eyes showed how much she has grown. Her hair had grew to about her shoulders but, she always had it up.
"Ash?" Serena questioned as I shook my thoughts to the side.
"Yeah?"
"Your dessert is here," She said as she motioned to the plate.
A huge grin came on my lips, as my mouth became watery. It was my mother's cakes.
"You're such a dork," Serena giggled as she got her dessert.
