Muse - secret-klainer

Blaine Anderhummel, of apartment block 12 and door 2B, sat at his desk staring blankly at his laptop screen. Blaine was a well known broadway actor in the play Dear Evan Hansen who, along with his cast mates, had been challenged by the director, Michael Greif, to write a poem or short piece of writing about any subject of their choice. They hadn't been told, but Blaine assumed the reason behind the director's challenge was to get to know his cast better, so there Blaine sat, lost for inspiration and running his fingers through his hair constantly in aggravation.

"Why can't I think of anything?" Blaine exclaimed, throwing his hands down onto either side of his laptop, emitting a dull thud.

Kurt Anderhummel, the loving husband of Blaine and the man best known for his rapid climb to fame in the fashion industry, popped his head around the door, taking one look at his husband and asking, "Everything okay?"

Blaine's head whipped round at the sound of his husband's voice. Despite his annoyance, Blaine couldn't help the smile that lit up his face at the sight of his husband of 6 years. The spark of love may have flickered during the years, but it never left them and now, having conquered everything life had already thrown them, that spark of love was stronger than ever.

"Yeah I'm- no, actually, I'm not fine." Blaine turned back around, pointing a hand at his laptop, "Mike told us to write a poem or short story about any subject of our choice and I'm completely lost. I can't think of a subject or even where to start!"

"Okay." Kurt laughed, stepping fully into the room to approach Blaine and card his fingers gently and soothingly through the man's hair, "Maybe you could start with calming down."

Blaine nodded, taking a deep breath and staring at his laptop screen.

"Now," Kurt spoke again, rubbing Blaine's shoulders, "Where do you normally get inspiration for your songs?"

Now there was the more popular reason for liking Blaine Anderson. His songs were so cleverly pieced together and so emotional. They truly sounded like Blaine was caring about what he sang and wrote and that each song had a significant and special meaning to the actor.

Blaine nodded, a smile forming on his lips as he turned to look at his husband, "I've got it. Thank you so much, Mr. Anderhummel."

"You are very welcome, Mr. Anderhummel." Kurt laughed, leaning down to press a sweet, chaste kiss to Blaine's life's before sauntering out of the room, Blaine turning to watch his hips swaying as he walked away.

Blaine grinned, half tempted to go after Kurt and throw him onto their bed and- no. Blaine shook his head to clear his thoughts. Things like that could wait till after he'd finished his assignment.

He turned back to his laptop, taking another deep breath and placing his hands gently over his laptop's keyboard, taking a moment to think about the opening sentence before starting to type.

All stories start somewhere so I will start mine with the boy. The captivating, intricate, intriguing boy who steadily stole my heart.

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Two days later, Blaine was sat in front of his director who was currently reading everyone's pieces of writing aloud. Of course, he chose Blaine's to read last which left the hazel-eyed actor to squirm in his seat as he waited his turn.

"All stories have a beginning, whether or not they have an end. Mine began when I first met him. It was nothing at first but a wanting for friendship; similarities and common interests."

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Later on in the day, Blaine and his cast mates were messing around of stage, running through their lines but mostly just joking with each other and enjoying themselves.

It was when Laura reached her line that the subject of the evening changed. Instead of speaking her line, she asked instead, "Hey, Blaine. Do you think you could read our your story again?"

Blaine frowned at the girl, opening his mouth to ask why only to be interrupted by Will who nodded wildly and said, "Yeah, it was really good! Read it again."

So Blaine had read it it again, finding not only his cast mates but also himself tearing up at his poetic wording and description of his love story.

"I do believe now that I always knew it was going to be him, but the crush didn't come until when I realised how truly amazing he really was--can you blame me for being so attracted to the cute, intelligent chestnut-haired wonder? I always blamed myself when I got embarrassed;"

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Two days later, Blaine and his high school friend, Rachel Berry, sat on opposite sides of Blaine's kitchen table, Rachel reading Blaine's writing out loud, unable to stop the grin on her lips. Kurt and Blaine had been through a hell of a lot of trouble during their lifetime but Rachel had never known the story before Kurt and Blaine became Kurt and Blaine.

"or nearly gave something away;

or just stared for no reason other than to appreciate and hope."

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

It occurred to Blaine that his writing had somehow appeared everywhere. He didn't know who gave it out but somehow every radio station was talking about it and it was even mentioned at least once on every news channel, even popping up in newspapers all across the globe.

This realisation occurred to Blaine on his drive home from work one day when the radio station he'd been listening to stopped playing the top hits from the 90s and instead started discussing Blaine's writing, even going as far as to reading it out for anyone to listen.

"Since all stories seem to include love, whether it be love of nature, love of life, or love of that 'someone', I will stick with my theme and write about my own love. But then again, I do not know where to start. He became my idea of love, ignited a spark in me I had not ever felt before."

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

It was common knowledge that Blaine and Kurt Anderhummel were happily in love and in a 6 year strong marriage. But not only was it common knowledge, it was also a common act to ship the two, many fans going as far as to write fanfictions, write songs or create edits of the two.

Blaine was looking through his tags on instagram one evening, waiting for his husband to arrive home. After looking through dozens of edits, Blaine came to the conclusion that the majority of them were using the same quote. It didn't take Blaine very long to recognise the quote as his own writing.

At least 3 in 5 of the pictures he was tagged in had the same caption or the same words engraved into the edit of the couple;

"I can not be sure whether he returns my feelings, or even knows of them, but I can be sure that I can not stay silent much longer."

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Finally Kurt arrived home, taking his time in shutting the door, pulling his shoes, gloves, scarf and coat off and hanging his keys onto the key hook they'd bought before walking through each room to find Blaine.

He finally found his husband sat on their bed, grinning up at Kurt.

Kurt returned the smile, moving forward to fall onto his knees on the bed and lean close to Blaine to press a kiss to his forehead and then wriggle further up the bed to curl into his husband's side.

"Whatcha doing?" Kurt cooed, looking up at Blaine who was staring admiringly down at him.

"I want to show you something before the rest of the world tells you." At Blaine's words, Kurt's eyebrows raised and he sat up to sit next to the boy.

And then Blaine looked back at his laptop and began reading the words on his screen, Kurt's eyes following along the page and his ears listening to every word his husband's voice uttered.

"One might say he is my muse, he who fills my verses and fulfils the emptiness I used to feel. I used to struggle with writing these things, now it comes to me naturally."

Kurt sighed happily, leaning his head on his husband's shoulder as he spoke the last words with the man;

""To be a muse is to be a wonder in someone else's eyes, flaws and all.""
