Day 8

This one was so long I had to put it into two parts

By the Angel this wasn't supposed to happen. I had simple orders and I blew it. What's left for me?

~o~

"Do you understand your orders?" Jia said.

  "Yes, I understand clearly."

"You must know, though. He is very dangerous. He could kill an man with a shoe, and that's no joke." It's true, Jia never jokes about business.

"I understand. I've trained my whole life, and I'm prepared for this."

"Are you certain, Alec?" I nodded my head. She tucked a strand of black hair behind her ear.

  "I am certain."

"Good luck, Alec. Make sure to come back alive, and in one piece, but for now. You're going to Indonesia." I was dismissed and left the room swiftly. I had a plane to catch.

Not for a second did I doubt Alec Lightwood. One of our top assassins. I've known him my whole life. He was exceptional at only eighteen, yet Magnus Bane was even more exceptional at twenty-two. A cold blooded killer. Hired by every noble, Duke, King and Queen, and the few that could afford his services to dispose of someone they despised. Which means he's traveled a lot and has learned a lot. Killing is in his blood by now. A natural thing for him to do. Someone you don't want to tick off, and then there were his methods of killing. All swift and quick so he could dispose of the body, but he occasionally got an order to make it as painful as possible. That's when he got creative. A psychopath in everyone else's eyes, but in our eyes he was a threat. He killed on of our own. Sebastian Verlac. He was working for Valentine Morgenstern, I know it. But to dispose of Valentine, first we need to dispose of his killer. I do not doubt Alec in his abilities, but this opponent will defiantly be a challenge for him.

As I sat on the plane, I started to look through the assassin's files. Name: Magnus Bane. Age: Twenty-two. Killings: Too many to count. In the "other information" box, it says he enjoys leaving the corpses of his victims covered in glitter. Interesting indeed. The picture of him showed a tan man, eyes showing Asian descent, his eyes were bright green. It is said while out on a kill, he puts in cat eye contacts just for effect. What an...interesting man. All I was focused on was my mission to have him killed. Easy enough, yet Jia stressed to me that it's not as easy as I might think. He's cunning and smart. It's going to take more than me shoving a dagger in his back to dispose of him. But, I have a plan. He's known to seduce his victims into bed with him. By morning they're never seen again. Those are just people who have never heard of Magnus Bane. Who didn't expect to get killed that night, but I'm expected to know him perfectly. First, he has to trust me. Someone he could call and have a normal conversation with. Those are the last people you expect to stab you in the back, literally. Second, I need to get him to a secluded area where the killing can be done. Where no one will interrupt. There's no flaws that I can recognize, and I've already figured out a plan if he figures out I work for the Clave. I lie and say I've left them for good after my youngest brother died. Lying is going to get me through this thing. The Clave has done their research on Magnus Bane. He goes to this cafe every day for lunch on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. There I will run into him and start a conversation. How, it all depends on the situation and if it goes right. There's always the risk that he isn't there and we'll have to figure out a new way to find him, but it's unlikely. I still had plenty of time to think of different solutions while the plane made it to Indonesia. There's plenty of time left, to my dismay. I never liked traveling, but it comes with the job.

The plane landed and I was in Indonesia. The scorching sun and black clothing made it very uncomfortable and hot, but I was focused on getting to one place and one place only.

As I walked through the streets, I passed many markets where many people tried to sell me something. I hadn't bothered to learn the language because I was sent here on such short notice. There were also schools, buildings, and restaurants. The Clave told me I was looking for a cafe named Taki's. They told me the address too, but I had no idea how to get there. Not knowing the language sucked at moments like these. I held out the paper with the address on it and occasionally looked up, not paying attention to my surroundings. Which went against every single bit of my training I've had my whole life. Next thing you know I bump into someone, dropping the piece of paper. A tall man yelled something I couldn't understand. A flush filled my cheeks. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." The man looked at me questionably. That's when it hit me. This was Magnus Bane.

"You speak English?" He had a slight accent.

"Yeah. I'm glad I found someone else who does." He smiled at me, and reached for the paper you dropped. He handed it to me.

"Where are you going such in a rush."

"I'm just vacationing here, and a friend recommended a place to eat. Ever heard of it? It's called Taki's." This is when those acting classes I was forced into finally pay off.

"Yeah, actually I'm headed there right now. Would you like to join me?"

"I would love to. What's your name?"

  "Magnus. Magnus Bane."

  "I'm Alec."

"The blue eyed beauty has a name." Another flush to my cheeks. "Come, that cafe is just around the corner here." That started my mission with Manus Bane.
